This morning, I left a little earlier to get to the Marriott to help with Grandma. I arrived at 12:30pm. No one was there. I put my gift on the gift table, restroom, and then hung out in the lobby for someone I knew to show up.
A few minutes later, Aunt Paula showed up with Ashley. I helped carry in balloons, and then Grandma and Mom showed up. I helped Grandma into the door, while mom parked. When my mom came inside, she handed me the gift, and stayed with Grandma. I took the gift into the shower room, and set it down on the table. I looked around for a familiar face, and tried to help if I was needed. I wasn’t sure, I didn’t really know anyone there, but Aunt Paula, and she was busy.
When Stephanie arrived, I gave her a hug, and then went to check on Grandma and Mom. They were coming out of the bathroom I walked with them back down the hall to the party room. Grandma was struggling. I felt so bad. I wish there was something we could do for her. Paula approached us, and Pam said this was too far for her, and there is going to be something done the day of the wedding. She can’t even go to the bathroom at this event, because it is too far of a walk down and back. When we were almost to the party room, some ladies came up behind grandma, and we were walking really close behind her, tail gating her. Pam, my mother-in-law said, you know you could go around us. One of the women, kind of huffed and said, “We’ll try.” My mother-in-law made eye contact, and knew that the woman was being a rude bitch. We let it go. I heard the woman say to another woman she was with, “I should just take that woman’s walker.” I thought oh that’s nice bitch.
When we walked into the party room, a girl was a holding a chair there for grandma. I approached her and she said, “I was told to hold this for Grandma.” I said, “Thank you, she is right there.” she said, “Okay” and walked away. I put my purse down at one of the seats to hold it for her. When I looked up and saw that same rude woman from the hallway. She was trying to take our seats across the table and she looked at me and said “I guess we can’t sit here now, because her purse is here.” I never met this woman in my life. I looked at her and said, “No, the bride-to-be’s grandmother is sitting here, who just had a long journey pushing a walker to get here from the bathroom.” So, you think the woman would be respectful. She said, “oh we are just trying to all sit together, since we never see each other.” I said, “I am sorry the bride’s grandmother is sitting here.” she gave me an evil look, and said to her friends at the table, “I guess we will just see you at the wedding in June” and walked away. I am sorry, but have some respect for the bride’s grandmother, who is older and has health problems and needs to sit asap. Apparently, this woman is Uncle Tom’s family, and they all are really strange. I didn’t want to cause drama for Stephanie, on her day, but damn how rude can you be?
When we finally sat down at the table, you could tell we really weren’t welcomed, and the other attendants at the table, would much rather have the other rude woman and her posse at that table, instead of us, whatever. The woman who was a chair away from me, asked me I was Andrew’s wife? I said, “Yes, my name is, Danielle.” She said, “I am Stephanie’s, Aunt Denise.” I thought to myself, you are a bitch by association, but I will just smile. My mother-in-law sat next to me, and grandma was on the other side of her, as well as Mary Jo, who sat next to Grandma. Mary Jo was at my wedding, as well. She made Andrew and I towels with our initial on them.
When the shower got underway, I wasn’t sure how this was going to go. I didn’t have a good feeling about it, and it was going to be boring anyways. Someone else’s shower, other than your own is always so boring. Lunch was yummy, we ate chicken salad mini sandwiches, half of a croissant, wedding soup, and vegetables. Dessert was cupcakes, and or sheet cake.
After dinner, the rude woman approached our table to talk to the other attendants, she was standing next to me, and had her hands on the empty chair beside me. I got up and pulled my char, in between Grandma and my mother-in-law. I didn’t want to be around that woman, or breathe the same air as her. I hope she knew it.
Finally, the games got underway, and Stephanie opened her gifts. I stayed until she opened mine, then I left. I had to stop at home and get some things from Moon, before I went back to Crafton. I crept out of the party room, doubting anyone would miss me.
Once I got to Moon, I called my mom and told her about the shower, changed my clothes, grabbed the things that I needed, and then I was on my way back to Crafton. When I arrived back to Crafton, I let the dogs out and cooked some dinner. I really wasn’t hungry, but I knew Drew would be.
After dinner, we settled in for the night and watched the last of the Hugh Hefner series on Amazon Prime. It was so good. I didn’t want it to end. What were we going to watch now?
