This morning I got up after Drew got out of the shower. I got in the shower, and got dressed. I went downstairs, and opened the coolers, grabbed the ice out of them and began to fill the coolers with the food with the fridge and the ice. I noticed that there was water on the floor by the coolers. Neither one of us, thought to plug up the cooler, so I had to clean that up. I was so annoyed. I hate when things change, just want stuff to stay the same. I don’t like when appliances break, or when you have to move things in order to paint the room. It is aggravating, and I wasn’t sure what time these guys were coming, but I wanted to be prepared. The automated phone call that I received yesterday said, between the hours of 8am-12pm. I hate how they give you such a wide window of time. I feel tied to the house.

At one point, I decided to get out of the house for a bit. I drove to McDonald’s and got a vanilla iced coffee. Victoria from Fastest Labs got me hooked on them. Around 10am the delivery drivers showed up. They got out of the truck, one of the men came up to the porch to talk to me. He surveyed the house. He said, that they will have to take a part the back door, since we can’t move the couch. Space is limited in our little town home. When they were getting ready to bring in the new fridge, they said to me, “Oh, I see you got a dishwasher too.” I said, “Yes.” He said, “We don’t install dishwashers, or fridges. We just deliver them, so you will get a call from a contractor within 48-hours.” I was stunned. I thought a contractor would just follow them, so I asked them, “What am I supposed to do until they call?” He said, “I don’t know ma’am.” So they brought the new fridge around back, and then came into the kitchen, to pull out our old fridge and saw that we have a copper wire line. They stepped back, and said “Oh you have a copper wire line, we can’t touch copper.” I said, “What do you mean?” He said, “because if that breaks, you can sue us, and our paychecks are too important.” I said, “oh okay, well this sucks.” I called my friend Geoff. He came over, and asked if I had some pillars? I went next door and borrowed pillars from our neighbors. He then told me to go down and shut off the main water. Once I did that, he was able to get the copper line off the fridge, but it was still dripping water. I put the copper line in a water bottle, and they were able to take the old fridge. I swept out behind the old fridge.

Then they brought in the new fridge, once they got it in, Geoff had no clue how to hook on the copper line, and had to get back to work, so he left. At this point, I had no choice but to call Dave Lehrman, my parents’ handyman. I really didn’t want to call him. He creeps me out. I had no choice. It was either have no main water to the house, and have a leaky copper line, or call Dave.

When I called Dave, he was busy at his rental properties, but said he will be right over. When he came over, he was able to install the copper line, but we had to get some parts at true value, after he installed the fridge. I put the food from the coolers back into the fridge. I took him to lunch at Eat n Park in Moon and then I had to go to PNC to get money out of the bank for him. I couldn’t wait until this day was over with.  When we got back to the house, he decided he could help install our dishwasher, as well. He said it has been awhile, but he wanted to try. He ripped out our old one, and did a little damage to our counter, because he didn’t disconnect the water supply line first.  Oh my God! Well we had to get some parts at True Value again, and then it was all hooked up and ready to go. Whew! What a day! I was so glad when he left.

Throughout the day, I have been text messaging Drew and keeping him updated. He said, we have to go to Home Depot tonight to get paint, and we are bitching them out. This is bullshit.” I agreed. When Drew got home, we did exactly that. The manager at Home Depot, acknowledged our issue, and was going to talk to the delivery company for not installing our icemaker, at least. He gave us back $157. He did the right thing, and we will never buy an install package again from Home Depot.

When we got home, Drew got to painting upstairs, he planned on finishing the second coat tonight. I decided to watch some Versailles. I checked on him throughout the process, and got him something to drink as he needed it. I am so proud to have him in my life. He does so much for us, without compliant.
