Halloween Party

This morning, I woke up and got ready to go to Crafton. I had a nail appointment at Bella’s Nails in Noblestown. I was meeting my mom at my parents’ house then we would drive to the Nail salon together. She was getting her nails done too.

When I arrived into Crafton, I stopped at Dunkin Donuts and got my mom two pumpkin coffees and my dad a chocolate donut. When I got to my parents, my dad was so happy and surprised with his donut. I said hi to my dogs, and then we were on our way to the nail salon.

When we arrived, I sat in Anna’s chair, and my mom sat next to me. Anna was going to do my nails first, then my mom’s. While I was soaking my feet for my pedicure, she was going to finish up my mom. It took a little over 2 hours to be completely done. My mom and I tried the SNS dip powder nails. It is this powder that they dip your nails in, and it supposedly it has nutrients in it, and makes your nails grow. I wasn’t sure about that, but I am excited to see how long it lasts. I love having my nails and toes done. It has been so long since my last pedicure. My nails and toes are a dark purple, almost like a plum. Fall means dark colors!

After our nail appointment, my nail trip costs me $90.00, not including a tip. I know this is a special occasion. My mom and I met my dad at Hanlon’s in the shopping center and we had breakfast. Then it was back to my parents. I wanted to try on the white tights that I had for my costume tonight. I  knew my mom would give me her honest opinion on whether or not they fit properly. Thankfully, when I tried them on they fit. I was ready for tonight. I couldn’t wait.

When I got back to Moon, Drew just got home. He asked how my nail appointment went and if I had fun? I told him it was so relaxing. I showed him my nails and my toes I think he liked them. I threw some laundry in and hung out, until it was time get ready. I was feeling semi nauseous. I was hoping I would be in tip top shape for tonight.

When it was time to get ready, I took my time and did my make up. I did my stitches on my face and on my neck, like Sally has them in the movie. I was being Sally from the Nightmare before Christmas. Drew was being Jack. The two main characters in the movie. Once we we were ready, we left the house and went to Giant Eagle to pick up my cupcake cake. Drew had it made in a particular shape. He wanted to surprise me with it.  I couldn’t wait to see it.  Once we picked up the cake, it was decorated in the shape of a pumpkin. It was orange with black writing. I loved it! We also picked up an energy drink, and gum.

My parents were next to arrive, my dad had the best costume! He was a pirate. My mom was dressed as a witch. I am so glad they  dressed up. My in-laws did not dress up.

Once they arrived, we ordered food. I had a grilled cheese and fries. Andrew had a burger and fries, so did my dad. My mom had a gyro. I think my father-in-law just had wings and spinach dip.
After dinner, Anthony and Dylan showed up. Dylan brought me a card, and inside the card was a $25 Starbucks gift card. My in-laws, got me two cards. One funny one, and one cute one. In side, the funny card was a $15 dollar Starbucks gift card. I felt so blessed. I knew where I was stopping on Monday! The bar sang Happy Birthday to me, and then I blew out my candles.
When it was time to leave, Drew and I were so tired. I was ready for bed. We got home around 10pm.

Anthony and Dylan came by our house for a bit, but they didn’t get a chance to eat, since they showed up so late. I was about to wait for them to eat at the restaurant. I was so tired. Anthony was in a mood too.  When they finally left, Andrew and I got ready and went to bed. I had a feeling I was going to be so lazy tomorrow.

Workshop & Birthday Sushi Lunch

This morning, I had a work shop to go to, but I was so busy working on Gen Ed stuff before I left for the workshop. I ended up being 5 mins late, but when I was in the elevator, the woman who was also in the elevator was the one hosting the workshop, so I am glad I wasn’t the only one late.

When I signed up for this workshop, I am not sure what I expected it was going to be like, but it was stuff that I pretty much already knew how to do. The woman overly explained things, and didn’t really seem to have the audience participate much, unless it was to ask questions. I was so tired and was disappointed over the workshop. It didn’t really provide me with anything new. I had so much to do at my desk regarding these gen ed proposals.

After the workshop, I went back to my office, and pretty much dropped my stuff, went to the restroom, and then Nicolette was meeting me outside Sociology for lunch. We were going to get Sushi, or something at Sushi Fuku. I was so excited. I love Sushi. When she arrived we went out the door of Sociology and walked to the Sushi place. I couldn’t wait to get out of that office. I had so much going on and didn’t want to be there.

When Nicollette and I walked into the restaurant we got in line. Luckily they weren’t too busy yet. I had never been there before. She said, that she usually gets a bowl. You pick your rice, then your meat, 4 vegetables, and then sauce. I thought that sounds like a plan. I got a bowl with brown rice, spicy crab meat, green onions, cucumber, cream cheese, avocado, spicy mayo. She got a bowl with spicy crab meat, the same vegetables and cream cheese, but with yum yum sauce.

While we ate, we talked about our weekend plans, and my birthday. She bought my lunch today for my Birthday. She is the best. We stayed and chatted for awhile after we ate, then we lost track of time and had to head back to the office.

30th Birthday & 2 Years of Marriage

Today, I am 30 years old. I feel pretty good about it surprisingly.

This morning, we went to Starbucks, when we got off the bus and I got my usual. A venti blonde roast with a pump of pumpkin, and room for cream. Since I am a Starbucks reward member, I get a free Birthday drink. Drew got his usual, venti iced coffee with a shot of espresso.

We parted and went to our buildings, I called my mom and she wished me a Happy Birthday. We talked for a bit, then when I got off the phone with her I got some work done. I don’t have too much going on right now, but that will probably change tomorrow after I meet with my DGS. It will make the week go by faster.

When Nancy arrived, she brought me a blueberry muffin, and wished me Happy Birthday! I told her Thank you! I was glad I didn’t get any pastries at Starbucks this morning!

At 11:45am today, I met Drew at the bottom of the escalators and we went to lunch. He was so cute. He held my hand, while we walked to Stacked. He asked me how my day was going and if I was having a good birthday so far? I said I was having a great day.  We walked to Stacked together.

When we arrived at Stacked, they aren’t so busy. It was nice. We got right in and got a table. We both did a build your own burger and curly fries. Lunch was so good. After lunch, went to the book store and he bought me a Pitt phone case since mine broke this morning. I really need a case, this phone has to last me.

After we left the bookstore, we went back to work. I didn’t want to go back at all. Thankfully the day went by quickly, and it was time to meet up with Drew again to catch the bus

When we got home, we made dinner and he went to the store. He got me flowers and two cupcakes so we both could have one, while he sang Happy Birthday to me. After dinner, we watched Halloween II. It was a great way to start a new decade. I felt so loved and so happy.

Gym & Birthday Dinner

At noon, we went to the gym and got a good work out in, after my cardio, I did some weights with Drew, then I went home and showered. I got ready to go to my parents. When Drew got home, he got a shower, got dressed, then we were out the door to my parents. I was so happy to see my dogs. I put a little Halloween tutu on Paris. She didn’t like it too much.

When we arrived at my parents it was 3:30pm. I snuggled my pups and kissed them. I missed them when I am not there. Drew and I started on the beer, then his parents arrived shortly after we did. My mom put some snacks out, so of course, I filled up on those before dinner. She made my favorite dinner ever, which is Meatball Stroganoff. She also made a pork tenderloin. It was so good.

After dinner, we sang happy birthday and I opened my gifts. The first ones I opened were Anniversary. We got another 5-piece setting to my Kate Spade wedding china pattern from his parents, then my mom and dad gave us money. I thought that was so nice of them.

When I opened my birthday gifts, I got 3 Alex and Ani bracelets from my mother-in-law and father-in-law, as well as another 5-piece setting to my Kate Spade wedding china pattern. My parents got me the iwatch 3. I love it! I was so surprised. They told me, that they weren’t sure if it was going to come in, in time, or not.

So earlier that day, my dad had to go out to the Apple Store in South Hills and get it. They only had one left. They canceled the order with Best Buy since they got this one instead. I was so happy it was there. It is so pretty I can’t stop looking at it! It was so easy to set up too.
Shortly after cake and dinner, it finally set it in a little bit. On Tuesday, I am going to be 30! It is so crazy to me. Around 8pm, we got ready to leave. His parents were going to leave too. My mom packed up the leftover dinner and gave it to us to take home. I was glad that we were able to do this, this weekend.

Last Friday of My ’20s

At work today, I had to sit in on the Gen Ed Requirement meeting with the faculty. It is best if I sit in and see how I can assist them. I have a good idea of what the proposal packet consists of, but I am the central person for the answers, to their questions.

The meeting went really well. I have a better understanding and I think the faculty does too of what is required for the proposal packet. After the meeting was over, I went to the Porch and got a grilled cheese and soup, then sat by the  Schenley park fountain. I needed some fresh air and it was nice outside. I talked to my mom for a bit. Drew mentioned it being the last Friday of my 20s and thought maybe we could have some people over tonight. I invited Anthony, Dylan, Leanne, Dan, Maci, and my parents. My parents said they would stop by around 7pm-7:30pm. That is when people are going to arriving.

When we got home, we got ready for people to come over, and I got a shower and changed. He took the garbage down. I was ready to just let loose and play drinking games. Leanne, Dan, and Maci were the first to arrive. I hadn’t seen Maci in so long.

Then my parents arrived, shortly after Anthony and Dylan showed up. We played cards against humanity and drank. It was so fun. My parents didn’t stay long. Leanne and Dan stayed for another round of drinking games then left. Maci was getting so sleepy. I missed her. Anthony and Dylan stayed until  about 1am, then it was time for bed.

Busy Tuesday

This morning, I was late for the annual Graduate Studies; Grad Admin and DGS event at the UClub. I got tied up with Nancy going over the summer course work.

When I arrived to the UClub, Melanie as already at a table, and everyone was eating breakfast.  I put my stuff down at the table, apologized for being late, and then went and got breakfast. They had eggs, bacon, potatoes, pastries, coffee, tea, juice, etc. It was awesome.

When I sat back down, the Dean of Graduate Studies talked to us about the department and what is going on, how things are changing, and etc. All of the sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something scurry across the floor. I look really quickly and I see this little mouse, popping in and out of the vent. He then scurries up to where the Dean is giving his speech and then hops into another vent. My supervisor saw it, and notified her boss, and then I told Melanie, and she didn’t see it. I just kept watching the mouse.

At one point, we were allowed to ask questions. I didn’t have any questions to ask. I just listened. I thought it was informative and it was best for me to just soak it all in that day.

After breakfast, I went back to the office with Melanie and we updated one, another on the happenings in the office and my progress with my work.

When I got back to the office, Nancy asked me what was all over my back? I gave her a weird look and then took my shirt and moved it to the front, so I could see it. There was mud on my back. I wondered how that happened, then I realized I did accidentally step in mud on my way over to the UClub and must have kicked it up on me, because it is all over my jacket too. She asked me if I walk like a horse? I laughed.

At around 1:00pm, I had my meeting with the graduate committee. They had a huge agenda to discuss. I took notes, but my e-mail notifications on my phone kept going off. I know its is important that I be there, but I have so many issues with the course work, and need to get things sent off to registrar. There were a few times that I had to get up from the meeting and take care of requests.

After the meeting, I had to get ready for my 3 months with Linda. I wasn’t sweating it, and I feel like I have been doing well. I wonder what she was going to say. When I walked into Linda’s office, I took a seat. She asked me, how things were going? I told her they are going well. I am trying to finish this course work for the Summer. She nodded her head. Then we talked about how she feels as though I have such a great personality and that I have really good potential, but she wants to help me shape my personality into a more professional one. I told her I agree with her. She asked me, if I wanted her help? I said, yes, please. So, we have a plan now, and she is going to help me here and there, so I can be more professional. She said, other than that you are doing well and will go far. I was glad to hear it.

After meeting, I ended up staying until 5pm. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to make it to the gym again tonight.

Pitt’s Homecoming Game

This morning, we had a chiro appointment at 8:30am. I was nervous about this adjustment, because my neck was really out last time, but I am hoping for a good crack this appointment.

When we arrived, we were there before the doctor. We made a joke and said, we were going to leave if he was 5 mins longer. He laughed. When I got adjusted he said, that I was much more lose than last time, and he is glad I am better. When he adjusted Drew, he as a bit tight. Drew said, “Well we had that demo, and it was stressful, and etc.” Dr. Bailey said, to us that he needs to come once every other week, it is just the way it is. Drew and I just gave each other a look. He said, I am good to go for three weeks. Drew will call when he feels like he needs to come in. We haven’t met our deductible yet, and can’t afford to go all the time like that.

After the chiro, we went to my parents’ house, we got there a little earlier, so I can see my doggies. When we got down to Heinz Field, I texted my professor that I work with, and tried to locate him. We had to park in a garage. He was in the gold lot with some friends and his wife. We had plans to meet up and join his tailgate, if we could find him.
When he called me, he stood out in the middle of the street until I saw him, when I saw him I introduced him to Drew and my family. My mom brought 2 boxes of cookies (She is so cute). Drew and I brought beer. We know how to tailgate. We met some other older couples and even ran into my Uncle Andy.

After awhile, we said our goodbyes and went into the stadium. We wanted our James Conner bobble head. They were only giving them out to the first 300,00 fans. We all got one, my mom, my dad, myself, and Drew.

When we got to our seats, we said Hi to Dave (one of Drew’s co-workers). He was in the same row with us. I had 4 tickets to give away. It was so hot outside. We only made it until the end of the 3rd and then left. Pitt lost, but they put up a good fight.

When we got back to Moon, I got a cold shower, and put a cute and comfortable dress on to go over his parents’ house for dinner. His parents were having a couple over for dinner. Don and his wife, Don calls me his girlfriend. This was the first time I met his wife and she was a hoot. She is from Jersey. She tells it like it is. I like her, but she is intense.
When we got home, it was 9pm. His dad sent us home with some food for the week. Good thing we didn’t go grocery shopping yet.

Summer Course Meeting & Goofy Golfing

This morning, we had the summer course schedulers meeting. I was still trying to consume some caffeine. During the meeting, we figured out who is going to teach what, and what classes we are going to offer. It was the easiest meeting thus far!

After the meeting ended, the work day seemed like it took forever to end. When I met up with Drew to catch the bus, he seemed a little tired. I wasn’t sure if we should go Haunted Mini Golf or not. Yesterday, he had that big Demo and it really took a lot out of him. I know he was stressed about it and he was working so hard.

When we got back to Moon, we hung out for a bit, then got ready to go to Hopewell. We go Haunted Mini Golfing at the Windmill every year. Each year, I get my annual Michael Myers picture. All the horror movie figures are hand painted onto the fence that surrounds the mini golf grounds. Well this year, they must have put Michael together unevenly he as lopsided, but I still got my Michael picture.

When we were on the last 6 holes, they finally turned on the spooky music, and a guy with a chainsaw was walking around revving up the chainsaw. Drew and I joked that times must be tough here at the Windmill this year. In the past, we would tie this event in with an Aliquippa weekend. I would drive down, and then we would go mini golfing, then to the Cafe with his parents for dinner, then go back and spend the night at this parents house. This year it is a little different, we are still meeting his parents for dinner at the Cafe, but they don’t life in Alquippa anymore.

After goofy golfing, (Andrew won by 2) we must up with his parents at the Cafe. I had a pretty busy week, so I was going to treat myself to a couple pumpkin beers with the brown sugar rim on the glass. I knew Andrew had a rough week, but he had to drive.  We always have a good time there at the cafe. I talked to the owner for a bit about my birthday party. He said, he would reserve a table for me that night and that we would be taken care of. When we got home, I was a bit woozy from the beer and couldn’t wait to go to bed.

Oakland & Kennywood Fright Nights

This morning, I woke up around 9am. The dogs didn’t get me up any earlier, which I was happy about. I got them outside, fed them breakfast, then got a shower. When I got out of the shower, Cassie was awake. I asked her what we should do today? I had to stop at my house, either before we go to Oakland, or after Oakland. She said, that it would probably be easier to go before we go to Oakland. I agreed.
After she got ready, we packed up my car, then drove to Moon township. I was so happy to be back there tonight. She helped me bring the stuff in to the house, and put the beer and left over pizza in the fridge. I changed my top and my shoes and then we were out the door again to go to Oakland.
When we got to Oakland, I took her to the 36th floor of the cathedral. She loved the view and took some pictures, then we took the elevator down to the 7th floor and met Drew at his cube. He was going to meet us in Hogwarts, which is the common area of the cathedral.
Once he met up with us, we walked to Primanti’s. Cassie said, that she really liked this campus and thought it was so big, bigger than University of Kentucky. When we walked in to Primanti’s, we went upstairs to the second floor and sat at an empty table. They were pretty busy. The same waiter that waited on Drew and I the last time, waited on us again. The food was awesome and Cassie liked the sandwich, even with the coleslaw on it.
After we left Primanti’s, we said bye to Drew. I needed some coffee. I stopped at Dunkin and got a large coffee for the road. I showed her Heinz Chapel, and told her about the history of the building. I seemed to have forgotten some of it. I used to have to memorize this narrative about the building when I was a docent over the summer, but I forgot some key parts about the chapel.
When we left the chapel, I took her to my building and showed her the home plate from when the building was Forbes field. She took a picture of it. Then, we left Oakland, and drove to Downtown. I took her the same route as the bus, when it takes us into town to go home.
Then I drove her to Station Square, and through southside, so she could see all the bars and where people go to drink on the weekends. Southside holds so many good and bad memories for me. I drove her to the waterfront and I stopped at Target to get motrin and some water. I was starting to have a headache. I needed to be ready to go for tonight. We were meeting Anthony, Dylan, and Drew at Fright Nights tonight.
Around 4:30pm, we left Homestead to go to Kennywood. We hung out in the parking lot, until Anthony and Dylan showed up. Then we all stood in line. She was so excited! As soon as they let us in, we walked into the tunnel that leads us to the park and sure enough there were two actors waiting there to scare us. I jumped a little and they all laughed.

While we were waiting for Drew, we rode a couple rides. One was a smaller coaster and the other was a spinning ride. We walked through two haunted houses. We still had so much more to do. Drew met with us, while we were in line for the vampire haunted house. The one vampire at the end creeped me out. He said, “blondie is mine!” When we exited the house, Cassie and I were the last ones.  Anthony, Dylan, and Drew were waiting for us outside the haunted house.
After I kissed Drew, Anthony and I registered for the skycoaster and we bought our tickets. Our time was 7:30pm. They said they could get us suited up now. I was so excited! When we got suited up, Anthony said, “I have been dying to do this with you.” I said, “Well if we can’t date, then we should fly!” He laughed. They got us locked in the apparatus, and then we were laying on our stomachs lifted up off the ground. They gave Anthony instructions what to do, and how to pull the cord. I was so nervous. I knew he would pull the right cord.
When they started lifting us up, we heard the chain lock in place. I was so excited and so ready to fly! Drew, Dylan, and Cassie were standing on the bridge taking a video and watching us, go higher and higher. Anthony and I waved to them and we locked arms until the first swing then we could release them and spread out. I was so excited. I hadn’t done this since I was a preteen.
Once we were at the top, the chain locked and the loud speaker said, “Alright flyers, three, two, one, FLY!” He pulled the cord and down we went. We swung back and forth, and it was so cool to see the entire park, the smoke, the lights, the creepier music. It was the coolest thing in the world. While, I was up there swinging, I felt like I just dropped and let go of all my worries. It was so cool!
After awhile, we had to grab the loop and come down. I was bummed. I could have stayed up there for a little while longer. Once we were unstrapped and on our way to meet up with Dylan, Drew, and Cassie. They gave us hugs and Drew kissed me. He said, “You did it bub!” I said, ” I loved it!” We did the alien haunted house next, then got in line for a Dark Shadows Haunted house, which was alright, then we did an escape the room, and we were so close to solving the puzzle. no one solved it yet. I had never done an escape the room before, after the escape the room, we went into the haunt and it was a voodoo theme. Then we rode the Phantom, Anthony and I rode together. Dylan rode by himself. Cassie and Drew sat this one out. Drew couldn’t fit and Cassie was scared.

Image may contain: 2 people, including Anthony Lombardo, people smiling, closeup and indoor

After the phantom, we rode one last ride and I shouldn’t have got on this ride. It was called the Black Widow. Drew and Cassie sat this one out. The ride was a spinning ride, and lifted you in the air and spun you around and around. When I got off the ride, Dylan had to help me out of the seat. I felt so queasy. I never used to get that way, but I guess I am getting older. No more spinning rides I said. I was ready to go home after that.
When we got in the car, I drove home to Moon and I was slowly sipping water. Drew got home right before us. I was so icky. Cassie had a great time, and I am glad that she did and that I got sick towards the end. I wanted her to have fun.

Wednesday

Last night, we packed to go to Crafton. Drew had a rough day at work. The system crashed and he texted me saying he wanted to throw up and scream. I felt so bad. I know how hard he has been working for this demo that is supposed to debut on the 13th, so I am trying to be as supported as possible. We had Wendy’s for dinner and watched two episodes of Entourage, then packed up. After packing, we watched Siesta Key; the season finale then went to bed.

Today, I drove into Crafton. We are dog sitting, again! I can’t wait to see my dogs, but it is such a pain to be back home if that makes any sense. We have to pack, and then be responsible for the dogs. I just want to love them, play with them, cuddle them, then leave, but the responsibility in the middle of the work week is eh.

On my way to Crafton this morning, there was an accident in the left lane on the parkway right before the Green tree exit. Traffic was a slow crawl to the exit. The yinzers, who don’t know how to drive. You gotta love them! I texted Nancy and told her I would probably be a few minutes late. She was okay with it.

Once I got to the bus stop in Crafton, it was 7:15am. I didn’t want to wait for a 28x, so I took a g3 into town, then a 71 to Oakland. Drew was smart and got off on the Carnegie exit from the parkway, and went to Crafton that way. I should have done that I was hoping to not be in traffic that long. Being late sucks.

When I finally walked into my building, it was a little after 8am. I was so rushed. I called my mom for a bit, then got to work. I texted Nancy and told her I was here. She said, not too bad for an accident. I agreed. I have done some projects here and there, but today I have a meeting with Mel and Jen at 2:30pm, then a 3pm meeting with Melanie. I hope this day goes fast so I can see my pups.

At lunch, Nancy and I went to Five Guys. I have never been there before. I had burgers and fries two days in a row now. I feel so fat. I can’t wait to go to the gym on Sunday. I need to eat better, but it so tempting. I eat salads every day, but then Nancy asks me what I am doing for lunch? and I lose all control!

The meeting with Mel and Jen went well. We finally are on the same page and seem to know what to do in case a student comes to us with an issue. After we met with Jen, Mel and I finished our One-on-One. I had some work to do when I got back to my desk, not enough people applied to teach in the summer. They seem to want the research money more than the teaching money. I had to remind a few students to please send in the applications, and I have some organizing to do, but nothing major.

After the meeting, the day flew by. When Drew and I were on the bus, he told me that they were able to restore backups since the system crashed, but he is thinking that he is going to have to pass on this weekend’s festivities so he can catch back up. He feels so pressured. This demo is to take place in almost a week! I am sad that he might have to miss out this weekend, but I understand.

When we got on the bus, I got a call from my dad around 5:00pm. He called to ask me if I got home yet? I said, “No I don’t get out until 4:30pm. I get home around 6pm on a good day. You know that.” He said, “I know. I am sorry.”  I said, “I will call you when I get home.” I hung up the phone and gave Drew a look. He shook his head. They didn’t get the pet sitter to come today, because they left around 10am, but they should know what time I get out of work, and when I get home by now. I was just so annoyed. Nothing seemed easy today.

When we finally got to my parents’, I let the dogs out and they went to the bathroom and they were fine! After I fed them, my mom texted me and asked if the dogs were ok? I said, of course, I would text you if something was wrong. I just want them to back off. They should have had someone come to the house today, but since they didn’t they are up my ass about it. I am doing the best I can. I can’t control traffic, or when I get to leave work. I got it guys.

After I fed them, we ate dinner, then I got a shower and we watched a little of Pens game,  then turned on Entourage. I am just not in a hockey mood yet. I feel as though it just ended, but it was cool to see the banner be raised, and Sid come out with the cup. I didn’t feel like going to bed until 11pm. After two episodes of Entourage, we started to watch the Lady Gaga Documentary 5 foot 2. I like it so far. I started dozing off, but I had to get the dogs out one more time before I went to bed.
