Happy Hour

In the afternoon around 3pm, I had my final meeting with Melanie. We went over some upcoming assignments that I need to complete. We talked about my provisional coming to an end.  She honestly told me it is hard because I am so new. The faculty are frustrated because there isn’t someone more hands-on to train you. My predecessor was there for 6 years and knew all the answers, and what to do. You are still learning, so there are growing pains for everyone here.

At the end of the meeting, I put my laptop back in my file cabinet drawer, in my office and locked up. I turned off my Christmas lights and said Goodbye to Nancy. Melanie and I met out in the hallway, and we walked to the Porch together. She said, her husband was coming to meet us there eventually. I was excited to meet him. We sat at a table, and a waiter brought over some menus, and we ordered two beers. I ordered the Mad Elf. It was a darker ale, but it was good.

Eventually, Melanie’s husband arrived, and he shook my hand. It was so nice to meet him. He seemed so relaxed and chill. You could tell how much he loved her and she loved him. It was sweet to see. Drew was at the Porch as well. He was with some friends from his department. They had their annual awards ceremony today, and they always conclude it with a Happy Hour.

At one point, Drew came over and shook hands with Melanie’s husband. We all talked about Pitt, sports, and what Drew does for a living. Drew had to go back to his party, and after we finished our second beers, Melanie and B left. I said goodbye to them and told B it was nice meeting him.

After they left, I joined Drew’s table. I sat across from his boss, next to Drew.  Drew’s boss complimented my nose stud. I had a beer with them, and we all got up and went to Hemingway’s for Music Trivia night. Drew, Jim, and I said goodbye to Bill and Chad and walked to Hemingway’s.

Once we arrived at Hemingway’s, we found our party, and we squeezed into a booth. They were finishing up the round and then there was going to be a Last Chance round.  Miller Lite was sponsoring the Music Trivia night, so they were giving away T-shirts, socks, wrist bands, and promotional sweaters. The sweater that they were giving away, was the one I saw at the Beer distributor when I went with Drew. I said, “Babe, that the sweater I wanted.” Well one of Drew’s co-workers at our table, won the raffle for the sweater. She gave it to me. I was so happy. Drew and I also got t-shirts, as well. It was so much fun. I had some beer there too. I was not looking forward to tomorrow morning. When we got home, I put some pjs on then it was right to bed. We had such an early day tomorrow.
