A Taste of England

A Taste of England

This morning, I was exhausted. I didn’t sleep well. I never do on Sunday nights. Once we arrived in Oakland, we went to the Starbucks in the basement of the Cathedral and I got a Venti Caramel Latte. It was not that great. The woman who usually makes the coffee wasn’t there until later.

When I got to my desk, I sat down and started cranking out requests and answering e-mails. I mostly have organizing to do. I am taking it to project by project today. All of a sudden, one of my favorite professors to work with, walked by my office and he and I talked about England and summer. He then said, “I have something for you.” He went into his office and retrieved the gift and came back. I stood up and saw it it was a big box of Clipper tea! I couldn’t find this anywhere. I was so glad he remembered! I thanked him and I am so excited! A big old mug of Clipper should make his Monday taste a little sweeter!

Low Key

This morning, I was up at 7:45AM. Drew had to work from home today. I finished laundry, showered, made coffee, and pancakes for breakfast. I am supposed to hang out with Anthony today. I am waiting for him to come over so we can start the day. I am not sure what we are going to do. I am also waiting for my cousin Mackenzie to come over and drop the stuff off that my mom and I ordered from Amway. The business she is starting on the side. Then, I need to go to my parents to pick up half of the case of Hint water that my mom ordered. She ordered blackberry and peach. Andrew’s mom drinks Hint water. I love it. Then my mom is going to give me the money from her Amway order. Then where ever the day takes me is where I will go. I have thought about starting a new work week yet, but I feel ready though for whatever is coming my way.

Best Buy

It was one of those weekends, where we just took it easy. Andrew was on call for work, and it only happens like twice a year, so I can’t complain. Yesterday, I had a much-needed visit to the chiropractor. All the stress from the work week was just built up in my neck. I needed adjustment.  My neck popped so loud. It felt so good.

When I got home, I started organizing the basement and getting rid of somethings, and we took things to the garage. I hate clutter. Once we got to the garage, we started throwing away stuff that was old in a laundry hamper. My monthly visitor arrived later on in the day, as I was cleaning the house, and it slowed me down a little as I was making dinner. I never let it stop me from doing things. Drew helped me make dinner and clean up.

After dinner, I got changed, and then we went to Best Buy. Drew surprised me this week, and told me that he wants to buy me a Mac for my birthday! I am all for it. We are going to get one through Pitt because they will be able to do a payroll deduction. Instead of us having for it outright. After we looked at Macs, we decide to walk around the store. Typically, when we got to Best Buy it is for a purpose and then we leave. We never walk around and check things out. The movie section is so thin, and DVDs are still there, but barely. There are a couple video game consoles set up, but that section was pretty thin too. It is weird. We walked up to the Nintendo Switch and checked it out. I was like oh my God, the Nintendo. I used to play the original one it was a huge grey one, and then I had Super Nintendo. My dad and I played Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. Drew and I decided to play the switch and give it a try. We played three games of Mario Kart. It was so much fun! All the graphics look so different now, and so high tech and so real. It is not like it used to be when I was younger. It took everything in our power to not walk out of there with the Nintendo Switch.

Hello Friday!

Finally, Friday! A day I hav even waiting for since Monday! I was hoping for a nice relaxing day today, maybe a few requests here and here nothing major. I have been on and off the phone with Melanie all morning long adding things to my to do list. I can’t seem to finish a task today. As of now, the new semester already started for us, but I am already in the thick of it. I am hoping to get caught up today, but for now I am at lunch reading my new book, from the library, the Death of Mrs. Westaway. I typically don’t gravitate towards mystery novels, but this one was on the best seller list, so we will see. So far I like Ware’s style of writing. It’s accessible and seemingly easy. I appreciate it. I am trying to catch. Up on as much personal writing as possible before a new semester of grad school starts, then personal pleasurable reading ends until Christmas break!

Happy Friday!

Thursday

This week was so intense. I have had much better weeks, but I am okay. I have been suffering from the learning curve this week, and I have had so many reminders of things that I am still learning and need to remember for the future. Melanie has been in touch with me and I have been checking things off my list with her.

On top of all this, Nancy is out on vacation and so is my supervisor. I am on my own. Thankfully, the division administrator is here. She and I had an impromptu meeting about the events of the week and she said, they were good learning experiences. We had a nice chat and I feel so much better now. I am glad I can talk to her. I have a little agenda for Phyllis when I talk to her on Monday. I will be so happy when tomorrow gets here because it will be Friday!
Yesterday, Wynn came down to see me and she talked me down off the ledge as always. She is the best. She really is such a great person and is always there for me to learn from and to vent to. She helped me with a few things and I am just truly grateful for her. I was going to call her and ask her to come down, but she was there first thing in the morning. She must have a radar. I checked out of here at my normal time, since I had work study. I went to the gym did some running and walking, and machines. Then home, to eat a potato and be a slug.
Today, I just feel so much better. I really do. I feel like I can slow down and forgive myself and not be too hard on myself, and just learn from my mistakes. I read this morning, that Mercury is in retrograde, so that means that there are going to be some miscommunications, and technology might fail. This is going to last until August 19th. Tiger’s eye is good for protection. I know you may think oh my goodness, Danielle you are crazy! ( at least that is what my mom said…) No, I am very spiritual. I won’t say that I not uber religious, but there is some truth to spirituality I believe in it. There is a supernatural world out there, and honestly, it sort of makes sense to me, and I find myself I am drawn to reading about it and learning about it.
This afternoon, it has been okay. I feel refreshed and rebooted. This evening, I am going to pick up the house a little and get ready for my parents to come over tomorrow. We are going to have a movie night. I will have more for you later.

Sunday, Drew’s Parents for Dinner

This morning, we took it easy. We drank some coffee and watched Smallville. We are on season 3 now, Clark meets Lois for the first time. I am such a sucker for Superman, especially Tom Welling. After Smallville, we got ready and went to the gym. I was going to try to get a really good work out in and run again. I am really trying to get back into it, without thinking about it too much.
The gym was a bit packed, I wasn’t sure how long I was going to stay, but whatever. I went to it. I got on a treadmill started out at a 3.5 speed on a 3.5 incline for about 10 mins, then I turned the incline down to 0.0 and increased the speed to 4.5 and started to run for at least 4 mins. I used to be able to run for 7 mins, but it’s not happening as of late. I can’t wait to get back to that. I did another walking session back at 3.5 speed and a 3.5 incline and walked for 10 mins, before kicking it back up again and running again. I did this for about 30 mins, and then I got off the treadmill. I used to do an hour of cardio, but I have been talking to a few people and they said, that all you need is at least 20-30 mins of cardio anymore than that is ridiculous.
After the treadmill, I did some weights. I did the lat machine three sets of 20. I was sore the last time I did this, and I like that feeling. After the lat machine, I did the hip abductor. I looked over and saw Drew in the weight room lifting weights, he looks so in his zone. I am struggling so bad getting back into this.
After the strength training machines, I went home to get a shower and get ready to go to his parents. I put on some comfy beach pants that I got at Old Navy. I am so in love with that store. I paired the striped blue and white pants with a white tank top. I was just going comfy. When Drew got home, he got showed and then we were on our way to his parents.
When we arrived, his dad was already cooking on the grill and the dinner was almost ready. It has been a while since we were over there for dinner. His dad made steaks, potatoes, hot dogs, hamburgers, salad, some cheese spread with cut up pastrami over peppers, baked potatoes, and sweet potatoes. I was ready for a steak. I was so sick of hamburgers and hot dogs. We talked about work, school, grandma, Tommy and Megan’s new dog waffles; I can’t wait to meet him. For dessert, we sang happy birthday and had cake, chocolate covered pretzels, and because they know I am not a fan of chocolate cake they bought me a piece of vanilla cheesecake. I am so hormonal and thanked them for the cheesecake, but told them I am going to have a small piece of cake today.
After cake, Drew opened the gift he got Bose wireless headphones. We are not too sure what happened to his other headphones. The cake was so good. It had pieces of chocolate chips in it, so yummy. I got up and went into the living room and laid on the couch. I was so full. I ended up falling asleep.
While I napped, Drew helped his mom set up her Fitbit. We gave her his old one. After he finished setting it up, Drew came over and kissed my cheek to wake me up. He is so sweet. He said, “Want to go soon?” I said, “Okay.” I smiled and got up from the couch. His mom packed us up at a doggie bag to take home. I love when they do that, because it is helpful to us. The leftover food will help with his lunches and dinners for a couple of days. It seems like Drew had a great birthday weekend, now to get home and start a new week again.

Andrew’s Birthday Pt.2

Andrew’s Birthday Pt.2

This morning, I had a nail appt with my mom at Bella’s nails in Crafton. I met my mom at my parents’ house so I can see my doggies. I got to see them for a bit, then it was out the door to Bella’s. I drove my car to the nail salon. We stopped to get coffee on the way. Once we got to Bella’s, I signed in and told them that I was here for Ana. I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a full set or just a little bit of tip with the acrylic dip. I wasn’t sure. I needed to talk to Ana. I knew she was running late, but I didn’t want anyone else to do my nails, but Ana.
When Ana arrived, she asked if I could come outside for a second? I walked outside, and she said, “I am sorry, but I have an 11:30am. Do you mind if someone else does your nails? I feel terrible.” I said, “yes, that is okay.” she said, “I will still do mom’s, but what exactly do you want done to your nails?” I said, “Well I know I want the dip, but I think I want a little tip on the end for some length, but not too long.” She said, “Okay.” She walked in and explained to the man who was doing my nails what I wanted.  I was so nervous it was hard for me to relax. Well, they turned out great! Now I am trying to get used to life with nails again.  I thought Drew was going to kill me. He likes my natural nails.

After the nail salon, my mom and I met my dad at Hanlon’s for breakfast, in Crafton/Ingram Shopping Center. I love that place. I didn’t like it when it first opened up. I missed what it used to be, Andrea’s. The food tasted so good at Andrea’s. I was excited to see my dad.
At breakfast, we talked about work, and my upcoming semester of grad school, and etc. We talked about the concert, and how the lead singers aged and sounded a little different than what they used to sound like. My dad said, well that happens. The 90s were a long time ago. It just doesn’t feel that long ago.

After breakfast, I drove my mom home, and then I went home myself. I  had some birthday things to do with Drew tonight. When I got home, I kissed Drew and tried to hide my hands. I didn’t want him to see my nails, not just yet. I knew he would notice them soon enough, but I wanted to wait as long as I could. I cleaned up the kitchen a bit, and then we went to Best Buy. Drew wanted to get the Fitbit Versa for his Birthday gift.

On our way to Best Buy, I had to stop and get him a birthday card. This is so unorthodox. The element of Birthday surprises is gone when you get married and if you chose to have a joint checking account, well then there goes the surprise for certain. We also got candy to sneak into my purse at the movies. When we arrived at Best Buy, it is like a gadget lovers paradise. Everything looks so bright and shiny in that store. We went to the FitBit area, and there was the Versa, now the Fitbit is much better for tracking activity, then the iwatch I will say. I do miss my Fitbit sometimes, but my iwatch is more of a smartwatch, then a fitness tracker. The iwatch still tracks my fitness, but it is not as good as the Fitbit. Drew picked the special edition version of the Versa. The band was more of a nicer mesh material, instead of a rubbery feel. I told him he never treats himself. He should get what he wanted.
After Best Buy, we went home and talked about going to see hotel Transylvania 3. I made dinner and Drew ordered tickets. We were all set for the 8:50pm showing. I was so excited for this movie.  I was hoping it would be good. Drew set up his Fitbit. He looks so happy!
After dinner, we got ready to go to the movies. I couldn’t wait to see this movie. I was just hoping it was going to be good. Once inside, we promised to try to see this movie without popcorn, since we just had dinner, and smuggled in candy. We were sitting in our seats at the theater and we couldn’t take it anymore. I went into the lobby and bought popcorn. I brought down. I only got a medium though, with butter in the middle, and no butter on top. However, I do love a ton of butter, but we need to cut back and be healthier.
When the previews, started they showed the preview for the new Winnie the Pooh movie, that I can’t wait to see. I think Anthony and I are going to go see it. I know I will cry my eyes out. Goosebumps 2 was coming out. I loved those books as a child, I will probably drag Drew to see it with me when it comes out. It looks so good.
