Drew and I met up with my friend Jenna from work, and her husband Mattaeo at the Speakeasy in the Omni William Penn Hotel. It was so cool. The atmosphere was dimly lit and it was red and gold decor. It definitely reminded me of prohibition. The drink menus were leatherbound and made to look secretive.
When Jenna and Mattaeo arrived, we placed our order. I had a mint julep. Andrew had a John Collins. Jenna had prosecco, and Mattaeo had soda water. They are not big drinkers. We chatted about the ballet and how excited were to see it. We talked about how Drew and I started dating and how Jenna and Mattaeo met and started dating. It was cute their love story. They met while she was studying aboard in Italy.
After drinks, we cashed out and got ready to make the walk to the Benedum. It was so cold outside, and we both were in dresses and heels. I couldn’t wait for this ballet. Once inside we said our goodbyes to Jenna and Mattaeo they were sitting in a different section.
Once we found our seats, which were much better than the seats we had for the Nutcracker. The lights dimmed and the curtain opened. The ballet had it’s moments where it differenced from the novel and the movie. I was able to follow, but if you didn’t know the story of The Great Gatsby, but then I can see how one may have found it difficult to follow.
At intermission, we met up with Jenna and Mattaeo. Jenna was loving it, but Mattaeo wasn’t sure how he felt about it. We didn’t see them after the ballet was over, but I was going to see Jenna at work on Monday. I couldn’t wait to recap with her.
After the ballet was over, and we made it home I went straight to bed. I was so tired. It has been a weekend!
