Wave Pool with my Bestie

This morning, we got up around 8:30am. I went to Starbucks and got us two cold brews. He texted me on my way home, that his friend Brent who cuts his hair, asked if he could come this morning at 10am for a trim. We did have plans to go to the pool, so as I said, as long as you are back by 11:30am. When I got home, I handed him his coffee, and kissed him. He was out the door.

I got my swim suit on and a pair of shorts with my Britney Spears t-shirt.

Then sat down to read my book for this week’s discussion. This book is titled, Seeking Common Ground Public Schools in a Diverse Society by David Tyack. Tyack references the treatment of women and institutional  minoritized students. The history was familiar from last fall, when I took Politics and History of Higher Education. I did find the history of the textbook interesting as well as the common historical figures that students seem to be familiar with, which includes more men, than women. I finished the book before we went to the pool. I want to let my thoughts marinate before I post them in the discussion board.

When we arrived at the pool, we met up with Anthony. He lost 70 pounds. He looks like a shadow of his former self. He and I laid out and took pictures. We gossiped about the latest drama. Sometimes I feel bad for my husband, because when Anthony and I get together we talk and talk and it isn’t always stuff my husband wants to hear.

We stayed at the pool until 2:30pm or 3pm, then we went and got Mexican food at Plaza Azteca. We made plans for fireworks with Anthony on July 4th. We were going to be at my parents that day and they live close to downtown, so we were going to be the neighborhood anyway.

When we got home, I got a shower and passed out on the couch until about 6pm. Drew went and did grocery shopping, I woke up and put some laundry in and then sat down to do my discussion post, while he replaced the blinds in our kitchen window.

Goals for the week

  • touch base with my friend from the radio station to pick up my Shinedown tickets for 7/10
  • finish my paper for assignment 1 that is due on 7/8 so I don’t have to do any homework over July 4th weekend
  • Perhaps start reading my next book titled,  The Global achievement gap: Why even our best schools don’t teach
the new survival skills our children need- and what we can do about it.
    by Wagner
  • Gym it up Monday and Wednesday
  • Make it through 3 days at work, then it is a four day weekend!

After review

I have been wanting to see this movie for so long. When I saw the previews for the movie, I was at theatre with my best friend, Anthony. He said, this looks like a biopic of your life. We laughed.

The second time I saw the preview for After was when I went to the movies with Jenna and Wynn to see Cruel Intentions. Jenna turned to me and said, “What is the plot?” I shrugged my shoulders and said it doesn’t need a plot he is hot!

While I was watching the movie, I thought about what Anthony said and laughed a little. However none of the guys in my past were as hot as Hero. It has been a long time since there was a good chick flick movie. There are references to great works of literature such as Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice. After combines a hot male main character with a trouble past and literature! Two things that make me swoon! If you have the chance watch it.

After I finished the movie, I goggled “After” and found that the movie is actually a book series by Anna Todd. She based it off of Harry Styles fan fiction. Harry Styles? I don’t think he is that good looking, but okay. I am going to have to check out these books.

Spoiler Alert: The movie has an open ending! Ugh, I think they are together, but I need to know for sure.

Wave Pool Day

In the morning, we went to the chiropractor and I had a good report on my hip! I don’t have to go back for 2 weeks!

After the chiropractor, we changed into our swimsuits. It turns out the rain was going to hold off until the evening time, so we packed for the pool.

We stopped for breakfast at Eat n Park in a Wexford, then we were off to the wave pool.

Once we arrived we laid down our towels and lathered up with sunscreen. We stayed at the pool until around 3pm, then left to head home.

When we got home, I showered, changed, and sat down to write my paper that is due on July 8th. I really don’t want to do homework over the long weekend, so I am trying to get it all done beforehand. I felt like I got a good start on the draft.

In the evening, Drew went over Mike and Steph’s for a guys night. So I decided to surprise my parents at church for 5:30pm mass, and then go out to dinner. I took them to the Bottleshop in Bridgeville to try something new. While at dinner, I missed my husband. I like how we can just go out and relax and have a couple drinks and chill. It’s different with my parents.

After dinner, I went back to my parents to see my dogs for a little, then I drove home.

When I got home, I put some pjs on and turned on the movie After.

Wednesday

This morning, I posted my original discussion post for my online class. The original post is due by Friday 6/28. The post is based on Neil Postman’s novel The End of Education. I liked Postman. It was an interesting read. I wanted to get my discussion post submitted  early and stay ahead of the game. I am going to start reading the next book, which is called Seeking Common Ground Public Schools in a Diverse Society by David Tyack. The discussion post for Tyack isn’t due until next week, but I will start it this weekend after I finish the book. I also want to start writing the first draft of our paper that is due next weekend, as well.

After work, I went to the gym and it was packed in there. It wasn’t that comfortable in there either temperature wise. I did the treadmill for a mile, then did some strength training and called it a night.

When I got home, I made my sausage keto stuffed peppers, and got a shower, then put on some pjs and watched The Handmaid’s Tale. Season 3 is everything so far! I am so hooked. This episode had me shook to the core!

Spoiler Alert: I am going to talk a little bit about the episode. I really don’t want Nicole going back to Gilead I am hopeful she will stay in Canada. Then commander Blaine being a member of the Gilead crusade and never telling Nicole! I was a little shocked, but not really, when he said his new post was at the front, why else would a driver be going to the front!? I like June (Elizabeth Moss is a bad ass). I do think it was brave of her to record that recording for her husband and tell him that Nicole was conceived out of love and how she loved Nick! I just can’t. I love this show!

Baby Charlotte

After work today, Drew and I went to meet his cousin Stephanie at his Grandma’s. Stephanie was bringing Charlotte down, so grandma could meet her. I am so glad that Grandma got to meet a great grand child. She looks so happy holding Charlotte. 🙂

Charlotte is so alert and so tiny. She didn’t mind everyone holding her which was nice too. My mom stopped by too meet Charlotte. I know my mom is so excited for grandchildren. One day, I promise, but I am just not ready now. I think she understands, but sometimes I feel like I am ready when I hold other people’s children. 🙂

Charlotte is so sweet and adorable. I can’t wait to see her again.

Sunday Pool Day

This morning, we woke up had some coffee and I watched Part One of the finale for the Spanish Princess.
Image result for spanish princess I hate how they ended it. Part 2 will not air until sometime in 2020! It’s a good thing I studied the British monarchy!
Drew was slow to come downstairs this morning. Drew made eggs for us for breakfast, and we took it easy until it was time to get ready to go back to the pool. The original plan was to possibly go to Stephanie’s pool and swim with her kids, Emma and Stephen, but she was coming down with a cold and an ear infection! I told her to please rest up and we will see her as soon as she feels better!

Drew and I went to the wave pool and laid out until about 3:15pm. He wanted to grill out this evening. When we got home, we made chicken on the grill. It was so good! I love it when he grills out. I also made guacamole and I think we filled up on that before dinner.

Our neighbor came outside talked to us for a bit. I guess some of the board members came by and power washed the siding of our house. There was some moss or green color to it from lack of sunlight. I was glad the association took care of it for us.

Goals for next week:

  • Continue to read for my summer class
  • write my 200-250 word original discussion post and have it posted by Friday 6/28
  • meet with my adviser to prep for my interview

Pool Day

The next morning, I woke up still bothered by the conversation and the events of last night. We got ready to go to the chiropractor. I didn’t bother showering. We were going to the pool after anyways. I put my swim suit on, a pair of beach pants, and a t-shirt. We went to Starbucks first, and for two cold brews. Then, we went to the Chiropractor. My hip was not in good shape, which I figured was the case. I could tell my gait when I walked was a little off. I haven’t been to the chiropractor in a while and I haven’t been good about stretching. I am trying to work out more now that it is summer. He wants to see me back next Saturday.

When we left the chiropractor, we stopped for breakfast at Eat n park. My hip was a big sore from him working on it. After breakfast, we were on our way to the pool. I left my phone at home, but I felt like I needed to send Leanne a message. I wrote her a message on Facebook  with Drew’s phone. She explained to me that she was kind of hurt, by me not updating her with my new number, and that I need to make time for my friends too. I shook my head a bit. I get where she is coming from, but at least we are cool.

When we got to the pool, Drew and I laid out and talked more about the drama her message. I was just having such a hard time with all of it. I try so hard. I really do. We stayed at the pool until about 2:30pm, then we wanted to stop at the Community Days that our townhome complex was having.

When we got home, I showered and changed. I put on some shorts and tank top and then we walked down to the cookout. The cookout was taking place in the parking lot outside of one of the board member’s house. He had a grill set up and some people from the community were sitting around chatting. We got to meet a few people who live in the other sections of our town home community. We played some corn hole and talked about the issues the board wants to fix.  It was nice. I hope they continue to do little things like this in the future.

I left the cookout around 5pm, I had to start reading for my online class that starts on Monday. I wasn’t sure if I had to post something in the discussion board by 5pm on Sunday or not, but I wanted to finish this book to stay ahead of the work. Drew came home around 6pm ish and said they moved the corn hole thing to the shade. He asked me if I needed more time to finish the book? I said, just a little and he said he was going to get a shower.

While he was in the shower, I finished the book and went upstairs where he was getting ready.  I said, “what should we do for dinner? Do you want to get out for a bit? It’s saturday night.” He said, “We can if you want to? We do need to go to Walmart.” I said, “okay, do you want to get Mexican? I am in the mood for tacos.” He said, “sure, we can do that.” We went to a local Mexican restaurant. It was empty! We tried Corona Premiere. it was pretty good and super light and low carb. I didn’t have the bloated full feeling.

After dinner, we went to Walmart, then home for the night. We were going to sit outside, but we ran into one of our board members, who was chatting with another board member. We thanked them for the cookout and said we had a good time. We talked to them for a little then went inside for the night.

Friyay

This week although short, was a long one. I have been so tired and the weather has been rainy. I didn’t go to the gym this week. I will start back next week.

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from my instructor for my summer class. He attached the syllabus and the course calendar. It doesn’t look too bad. I need to buy one more book. I ordered it this morning.

I started reading Postman last night. I have some homework to do over the weekend. I am waiting for the instructor to open up the Courseweb shell.

I am going to lunch with Wynn and Gene at the food trucks. 🙂

This evening, Drew and I are attending a surprise party (Hopefully she isn’t reading this entry lol

This weekend I need to get my homework done for Monday, go to the pool and tan, catch up on sleep, and prep for another week ahead.

But most importantly, I will relax and enjoy the weekend. I hope everyone has a great Friday and don’t forget to love yourself first!

Rest in Peace Uncle L

My Uncle Larry was laid to rest. He was a Vietnam veteran, so we had a military style funeral for him. The funeral ceremony was at St. Phillips Catholic Church, where my Uncle was baptized as an infant, attended grade school, and where I was married. The same priest, who married Drew and I presided the funeral. I read the first reading, Becky read the second reading, and my cousin Lambing read the petitions. It was good to see the family all come together.

After the ceremony, a patriotic and veteran motorcycle gang called the Patriot Guard escorted us to the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Once we arrived at the cemetery, we were greeted by armed military soldiers. They saluted us and escorted us into the space where the they were going to fold the flag, and do the 21 guns, and a solider played   taps on the trumpet.

V1DFhX60Rh6KwNiT0ujIswBecky held it together and accepted the flag from the solider in honor of her father.    She is at peace and so is my Uncle Larry.

Father’s Day 2019

This morning, I was running late to pick up my dad for Father’s Day lunch. I was slow moving. I picked up my dad and took him to lunch. He wanted to go to Applebees. We talked about work, school, and my internship. We talked about Father’s Day and my Uncle’s Funeral, which is taking place tomorrow. I was glad to take him out for Father’s Day, but I was so tired from last night.

After lunch, I went back to my parents and passed out on the couch and my dad fell asleep in the chair. My mom came home with my cousin Becky, who flew in from Indiana. After her plane landed, they stopped and got lunch. Becky’s dad is my Uncle Larry, who passed away.  I was glad I got to see her. I stayed for a while and visited, then I went home. Drew was still at his parents spending time with his dad and mom for Father’s Day.

While I waited for Drew to come home, I started watching the movie The Aftermath. When Drew came home, I paused the movie. We talked about Father’s Day, and his dad cooked me a steak. I heated up the steak and the little sweet potato and ate it up. I was so hungry.

After dinner, we snuggled and watched some more of the movie. I turned it off and decided to finish it another day. I was tired and needed to go to sleep. We had to be up early to get ready for the funeral.
