Monday

Ugh I have a serious case of the Mondays. I was so tired this morning. I didn’t want to get up and get ready for work. Sunday nights, are always hit or miss when it comes to a good nights sleep for me.

At work, there is absolutely nothing going on. Nancy is out on vacation all week this will make for one slow week.

At lunch, I ate in the kitchen, Linda and Kim were in the kitchen as well. Wynn stopped down and we talked about the weekend.

Tonight, I think I will go to the gym. I have absolutely nothing new to report.

Pool Weekend

We spent Saturday and Sunday at the pool.

Saturday, after the pool, we went to his parents’ house. We were celebrating Andrew’s birthday with our families. We got showered and changed at his parents. I packed up all my stuff. The plan originally was after dinner to go to the Helicon brewery, but we decided against it. Andrew and I were worn out from the pool and were ready to head home.

Sunday, when we woke up, we got ready to head to the pool. I was more relaxed than yesterday. On Friday, I turned in my last writing assignment for my summer class. Now I just had one short reading to do, a discussion post, and responses by Friday at 12pm. After those last items, I will be done with my summer class. I am anxious to see my grades. This instructor is different.  I think he will post grades all at once. I have only seen one grade so far and it was a 10/10 on my first writing assignment.

After the pool, Andrew dropped me off at home, so I could get a shower and get some housework done. Then he went grocery shopping for dinner tonight, and for the week ahead. After I got out of the shower, I put some laundry away, changed our bedsheets, threw some clothes in the washer, and when Drew got home, I helped him put away groceries. He was cooking out on the grill tonight. I love when he grills.

After dinner, we started watching John Wick 3: Parabellum. We will probably finish it tomorrow. So far it is so good!

Nancy is on vacation this week. It will be a long slow week. Also, I am still waiting to hear the results of a possible opportunity. I hope this week is the week that I will hear something.

Andrew’s 33rd Birthday

When we woke up, I wished Andrew a Happy Birthday! We went to the pool and relaxed. The sun was out and the weather was better than yesterday. It was definitely a good pool day. We stayed at the pool until 2:30pm. Then went home and got ready to head down to the Northshore.

When we arrived at the Northshore, there were people everywhere. There was a Pirate’s game today, so every restaurant was packed with people. It was going to be an hour and 15 min wait for a table. We decided to check out the bar area. We ran into his previous boss from Service link who was there with his girlfriend. They were standing at a table in the bar area. We hung out with them and had a couple drinks with them. We ordered some food so we wouldn’t have to eat at the concert. They were going to the Pirate game. We talked about Europe and their upcoming trip to Prague. They recommended this site called European Destinations to plan our next trip to Paris.

Around 10 mins to 6pm, we left the restaurant to head to Stage AE for the concert. I was so excited. As soon as we entered the venue. There is a section where you can stand in the grass, or you can go towards the front of the stage. I secured our spot close to the stage. I am all about being in the pit.

Image may contain: 1 person, on stage, concert and textJimmy Eat World was amazing. They played the hits I was familiar with such as “The Middle”, “Sweetness”, and “Hear You Me.” I didn’t know all the other songs. There was a clear generational divide going on at this concert. The younger crowd newly 21-22 knew every Jimmy Eat World song, even the ones that were not the hits. I was there mostly for Third Eye Blind, but it was cool to see Jimmy Eat Word live.  During Jimmy Eat World, it started to rain. I didn’t care it was so hot outside, the rain felt so good. I just embraced it.

It was a different kind of crowd when they came on stage. It was so cool to hear “Never Let You Go”, “Jumper”, “How’s it Going to Be?” The 10-year old inside of me was alive and in love again! We made our way out of the pit and headed towards the lawn. We stood in the lawn for  “Semi-Charmed Life.” Then we made a break towards the exit. I love the nostalgia of it all. I am happy I got to check theses bands off my list of bands to see in this lifetime.

Personal Day

When we woke up, we got ready and went to the pool. I put my phone in my pool bag just in case I should hear back. Today was supposed to be the day. I was keeping my fingers crossed in hopes I would hear something.

At the pool, it was hard to relax. I kept looking back at Drew, who was laying on the towel. I was in the shallow end of the pool trying to lay out. relax, and enjoy the sun, when it came out of the clouds. It wasn’t the most ideal pool day, but I was trying to make it work.

Around 2:15pm, we left the pool and I went home and showered. I had birthday errands to run for Drew. His birthday is tomorrow. Dylan came over my house and accompanied me to the mall to get his birthday gift. We walked the mall and reminisced how the mall used to be so busy. It was nice hanging out with Dylan. We never really hang out just him and I. I usually only see him when I hang out with Anthony. I bought Andrew his favorite cologne from Macy’s and then we went to Walmart. I had to get gift wrapping, a birthday card, face wash, body wash, and Andrew asked me to pick up a few things.

When I got home, I said goodbye to Dylan. I put Drew’s gift together and sign the card. Then I sat down and started to work on my paper. I realized I need my book. I can’t do anything without my book. I looked in my bookbag and remembered that I left it in my office. I didn’t plan to take the day off today. I  told Drew the news and he said, when he got home we would go back to Pitt and get my book. I was so upset that I left my book at work.

Thankfully, we were able to drive to Pitt and back in record time. I started typing up my paper using my cell phone on the way home. When we got home, I sat down and finished my paper, and sent it off to my writing tutor for review. My head was everywhere. I had so much I needed to accomplish with my summer class ending, RMU CLA curriculum, and the project with my advisor. I was also anxious to hear the decision about an opportunity.

For dinner, we ordered pizza and just hung out the rest of the evening.

RMU CLA

After work today, I decided last minute to take a personal day tomorrow. I sent the e-mails and the text messages then put up my out of office.

Once I dropped Drew off at home, I went to RMU to meet with the CLA and plan the curriculum for next semester. I stopped at Romo’s when I got to campus and picked up two granola bars. It was going to be an insane couple days so I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t eating too much junk.

I walked into the UPMC Events Center, and walked into the Athletic offices and met with Nelle and Danny. We planned started to plan the curriculum and talked about the upcoming events. I am excited about the CLA this year and to put our ideas in motion. We divided up the work to accomplish remotely. After the meeting, Danny let us pick through the box of apparel. I got two RMU volleyball shirts and a pair of sweats. 🙂 I love free merch! I didn’t get home until closer to 10pm. I was exhausted and so ready for the long weekend ahead.

Monday

This morning on the way to work, we stopped at Black Forge Coffeehouse’s new location. They opened up a coffee shop in McKees Rocks on Chartier’s ave. We pass by it on the way to work every day. This was going to be Drew’s first time. I was so excited to see the venue and get some awesome coffee.  I told Drew these are my people.

When you walked in, there is this big open seating area with a coffee bar to your left. In front of you, there are tables and a big stage area. I am excited to see a show here. This venue is so nice. It will be great. I am happy for them. We walked up to the counter and I ordered an iced coffee with a shot of espresso. Drew ordered the same. I congratulated them on their grand opening and how I visited their Allentown location during the night market event and how excited I was for them. They were appreciative of my excitement and well wishes. I love supporting small businesses. The coffee is so damn good. I will be back. B

At work, it was a Monday. Nothing exciting happened.

After work, I went home and made some dinner. Drew ate the last of the kabobs from the weekend. I made a keto chicken and broccoli casserole. I am picky about chicken anymore. I didn’t particularly care for it.

Lazy Sunday

When I woke up in the morning, my monthly visitor arrived and since it was day one I wasn’t up to going to the pool. Drew went bike riding with his dad out in South Park. I decided to go to my parents and just hang out with them for a little and see my dogs.

When I arrived, I snuggled my dogs and said, hi to them. My mom cooked my dad and I breakfast and we just lazed about. I made them watch the movie Midnight in Paris. My mom and dad never saw the movie before.

Image result for midnight in paris I am so Owen Wilson’s character,. like him, I suffer from “Golden Age Thinking.” I think the past is sometimes better than the present.  I love all the writers mentioned in the film, especially Fitzgerald. I miss Paris. I really can’t wait to go back.

I stayed at my parents until around 2pm then went home. When I got home, I got another shower and made the edits to my paper that my writing tutor suggested and I submitted it. I needed to get it submitted by 8pm. I will be happy when this summer class is over.

Short Hair Don’t Care

This morning, I had a hair appointment at what I thought was 10am. I woke up and put on my swimsuit and a romper. We were going to go to the pool after my hair appt. When I arrived, Misty was there she was cleaning. I looked at the receptionst and told her that i was here for my 10am with Misty. She said, “your appointment is at 11am.” I said, it is!? She said, “Yea.” Misty came to the front desk and said, “Yea, but you can come on back. I finished my 10am. I was going to call you and say if you want you can come in early.” I said, “I am so sorry, I hate when people do that and here I am doing it.” She said, “Don’t worry about it. come on back.

When I sat in her chair, I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She said, “we can do that. You want to go that short?” I said, “yes, please.” I wanted a change something fresh and new. The next time I see her. I will be going a little darker for the fall. I like to keep my edge up in the fall. I told her I wanted to remain blonde, but not so brassy and bleachy. We decided on ash blonde at the roots and pull some through, but still keep my light blonde look.

When she was finished, I was in love. I felt so much lighter and more relaxed. I figured Drew was going to be mad. He likes my hair longer. It will grow back. He was texting me while my hair was getting done, I was taking a little longer than expected. When I left it was 11:30am.

I pulled up to our house, and he was outside with the pool bag, anxious to get to the pool. When we arrived, I lathered up with suntan oil and put suntan lotion on my face. I got into the shallow end and pulled my hair up in a ponytail. I can’t get my hair wet for at least 24-48 hours. It isn’t as much fun if you can’t get your hair wet and it was a hot one. We stayed until 2:30pm, then I had to get home and finish my assignment for school.

When we got home, my scalp was burned from not being able to get my hair wet and not putting suntan lotion in my hair. I was hesitant about going back to the pool tomorrow. I got a shower and finished my assignment I sent it to Rachel for review. I was anxious to get her feedback on it.

Drew cooked steak kabobs on the grill and we sat outside and had a cigar and a drink. It was a relaxing day and night.

Shinedown Concert

After work today, I drove to Anthony’s and parked my car. I sat on his front porch and waited for him to come from work. He was only a few minutes late. I wasn’t concerned. I was ready for this concert.

When he came home, we hung out at his house for a bit, so he could change, then we were out the door. We went to the Shiloh Inn for dinner. It was cheaper than eating dinner at the concert. We told the hostess table for two. She smiled and said I have a romantic table in the corner with some dim lighting for you, two. I smiled and looked back at Anthony (everyone thinks we are together!). He said, “I love a romantic table.” I laughed. We took a seat across from each other. We laughed about the comment the hostess made. I said, “It is the hat. You look straight with it on.” He said, “Oh I know, it is. Let’s order frozen cosmos.” I laughed and we that ordered frozen cosmos to start and then we shared some appetizers. I wasn’t feeling a salad or a legit dinner. It was Happy Hour so drinks and apps were half off. I was ready for this concert. I couldn’t wait to get to the venue. It was going to be a hot one though.

After dinner, we drove to the venue and the traffic wasn’t bad at all. On the way, we listened to Spice Girls. It was funny. We were on our way to a rock concert, and listening to Spice Girls. Once we arrived at the venue we took a picture for my contact at the radio station, who hooked us up with free tickets.
Image may contain: Danielle Hornyak and Anthony Lombardo, people smiling, closeupThe picture didn’t turn out that bad. We did some walking around the venue, checked out the people, and the different stands that were set up. I purchased water it was like $7 for a bottle of water. That is a concert for you. We walked around before committing to a location on the grass. I wanted to get close enough to at least make out the people on stage. Anthony kept walking back. I said, not so far back we won’t be able to see who is on the stage. I like to get as close as possible.

While the openers were on, Anthony went to get popcorn, then came back and stood on the lawn next to me. We took some pictures and posted about how hot it was outside and how emo we were trying to look.

I was so happy to be there with him. He is my best friend in the world. We looked around and couldn’t find any hot rocker guys. Clearly, we had an image in my mind of what crowd we were going to find here like a hot rocker guy with skinny black jeans and a lip ring, but nope none of those guys existed at this concert. Anthony said, not one. There is not one single hot guy here.

When the openers ended, a man approached us and said, “Do you guys want to upgrade for free? We have some Pavillion seats left? I look at Anthony and he left it up to me. I said, “Sure! but if you have something as close as possible to the stage we will take it.” He said, “Really?” I said,”Yes, please.” He reached into his pocket and said, “I have something for you.” He gave us seats 4 rows from the pit! I was so excited and so thankful. I said, “Thank you so much!” We made our way down towards the stage. the seating attendant told us where to go. We were right in the middle of the row. There was no escaping to go to the bathroom now. We were so close to the stage. I loved it!
Shinedown as amazing live! They sounded good, just like they do on the radio. I knew most of their songs.
IMG_1902.jpegShinedown as amazing live! They sounded good, just like they do on the radio. I knew most of their songs. There were some songs that I did not know, but the ones from their “Sound of Madness” album and of course “45” which came out in 2003. I knew the beat the moment it started up. I love some 2000s rock. I really do. When they came out there were was fire and pyrotechnics. Anthony said all of those guys are so hot except for the drummer. I didn’t realize how hot they were. We had such a good time. I knew I was going to be half deaf at work the next day, but it was so worth it!

Meeting with Advisor

Today, I had a status meeting with my advisor. I have been working on a project with her and two other girls from my program. I have been putting it off it seems, but I am about 85% of the way done. I need to do some course descriptions, but other than that I feel like I have most of the information in the spreadsheet. At the end of the meeting, we set a completion date for the final product which is August 15th at 12pm. I need to dedicate more time to this and finish my part. I am trying to make another opportunity happen for me (I will have more details as they become available), my summer class, and wanting to soak up a little bit of summertime. I have been so busy.

After the meeting, my advisor and I just decided to jump right into our advising appt for that we originally scheduled for tomorrow. I spoke to my advisor about everything and she gave me some advice. She is so helpful and I value her advice and opinion on anything. We had a good meeting. She told me to keep her posted on what happens with the opportunity, and how the project comes along if I run into any questions. I am thankful and grateful to have her in my corner.
