At CMU, I met with my first member of a student organization to go over the checklist for the organization’s late night event. After our meeting, which I think went really well, for my first meeting. I sent her a follow up e-mail with things that we talked about. I will need to reach back out to her again last week.
After CMU, I had to make an appearance at RMU. When I got back to my car, and drove to RMU it was 10 minutes to 3pm. When I arrived on campus, I called John and he said, he was in a golf cart putting signs up for move in day and would be back in the office in about 15mins. I got off the phone with him and went to his office and introduced myself to the orientation leaders. They said, Oh can you call John and ask if there are any more blue orientation schedule sheets. We don’t know when he is coming back and we think he might be mad at us. I said, I doubt he is mad at you guys. I called him and asked about the orientation sheets and said, we will probably need to print more. I got off the phone with him and told the leaders to separate the ones that need the orientation schedules from the bags that already has them and to count up the finished ones from the non finished ones. Then the Assistant Dean of Students came into the office. We said, hi! We talked about orientation if she needed anything. I told her my schedule at CMU. She said, oh okay, well there is a commuter event tomorrow. I told her I would love to help with it. She said, “okay, it is at 1pm.” Then John came into the office and she told him that I was helping. John and I went into his office. He said, “The commuter event is tomorrow.” I said, “No, it’s on Friday.” He said, “No that is the transfer student event.” I asked if he could pull up the schedule. I looked at the schedule and he was right the event is tomorrow. He said, “You are at CMU tomorrow.” I took a deep breath. He was right. I opened my mouth and said, I could do something, but I really can’t. I have a scheduling conflict. The assistant Dean of students, entered his office and John told her I had scheduling conflict. She said, that it was okay. I felt bad. John told me there would be other opportunities and he was right.
As I was getting ready to leave for my hair appt, he gave me some t-shirts and some RMU swag for orientation. I was helping with a Monte Carlo event on campus tomorrow night, aTransfer Student Event on Friday, the student-athlete orientation on Sunday, and I will be on campus for Bobby Mania. I am sure I had enough going on to do.
When I left RMU, I went to my hair appt. I was so off. Misty asked me if I wanted some wine, while I wait for my color to process. I said, yes please! I have to admit it settled my nerves. For my hair, we decided to do some darker roots, and leave my ends blonde. It was time to go dark again and get ready for fall. This was my cheapest hair appt yet! When I left, I made another appt for 6 weeks from now. Then I went to the wines and spirits store and bought a box of the wine Misty had at the salon. It was so good and I don’t like reds. It is called Naked Grape, Pinot Noir.
When I got home, Drew was there to make me smile. He gave me a hug and told me that it was okay. 🙂 It was okay. The day was over. 🙂
