Celebrating 4 Years of Marriage

When I got home from Tracy’s, I changed out of the Snow Princess outfit, and into a cute outfit for our date night. Drew and I were finally getting around to going to Bistecca to celebrate our 4 years of marriage.

Back in October, Drew’s mom and dad gifted us with a gift certificate to Bistecca, a fancy restaurant in the Meadows Casino. Drew was not feeling 100% when we originally planned to go, so we decided to save it and use it over Christmas break.

When we arrived at the Meadow’s, we sat at the bar for a bit and had a drink. We relaxed and talked about the semester ending, and what is next for me in grad school, we talked about our future, and what we want for next year. It was nice to finally be on break, and just relax with one, another.

Around 7:00pm, we went up to the restaurant, and checked in with the hostess. It was going to be a few more minutes so we sat at the bar again, and had one more drink before heading to our table.

Once we were seated, we checked over the menu. Honestly, everything looked so good. We were so hungry. We ordered an appetizer which wasn’t all that great. Once we finished the app, we placed our order for our dinner. Drew ordered a Steak Au Poivre, and I ordered a 7oz fillet. I am a simple gal. The sides are made to share, so we split a baked potato and a side of  asparagus.

Honestly, it was perfect and I was so full at the end of dinner and a little buzzed. After dinner, we went downstairs back to the casino area, and drank some Diet Coke and wandered around the endless aisles of slot machines and table games.

When we exited the haze of the smoking section we approached a slot machine titled, “Hot Hot Penny.” I am not a gambler. I don’t like chance. I had three dollars in my wallet in cash. I decided to try my luck. I put a dollar in and kept tapping repeat bet, so many lights, sounds, and mini cross line games of matching icons and figures. It is truly mesmerizing. I noticed the numbers going up where it said amount earned. I saw it was up to $9. $9 was more than what I started with, this is how it works, and the addiction could easily have been conceived right then and there. I hit cash out. No I will not give into the chance that his machine could either increase my $9 or make it disappear in an instant. I took my voucher and put it in tightly in my wallet. Drew said, “Good Job bub.” I smiled. I thought about it some more. I took out another dollar and fed the machine. I hit repeat bet. Maybe I would get lucky once again. I ran out of credits. game over. My dollar was gone. I had one more dollar left in my wallet. I fed the machine. Again, lights and sounds, music, criss cross matching figures, and the amount earned totaled $8. I said that is enough. I hit cash out and tucked my voucher in my wallet. I was so proud of myself. I jumped up and down and Drew said, “Good job Bub!” I smiled.

I was content with my two vouchers. Drew took out his wallet and decided to try his luck.   He only earned .15 Drew decided to cash out his .15. So we walked along to the window and cashed in our vouchers. The woman handed Drew his .15 and handed me $17.  I smiled and was so proud of myself. Just then, Drew said, “Hey babe, can I borrow a little money to tip the valet.” I smiled and said, “of course.” I handed him some money and Drew went to get the car.

It was a good night.
