Today, is Andrew’s first day of his MBA. He had accounting class tonight, and then on Wednesday he will have business ethics. I am so proud of him. He will do so well, but it will be an adjustment for both of us, but I am so damn proud of him.
After KitchenSaver left, we drove to his parents. When we arrived, my parents were already there. It felt so good to just sit down and relax with our families. Andrew’s birthday is a little different this year due to the craziness and the COVID-19 precautions. We are just glad to all be together to celebrate. Andrew’s dad cooked an amazing dinner. After dinner, we sang happy birthday and he opened his gifts. He received a huge framed University of Pittsburgh picture that has multiple pictures of Pitt on it, and it also has the fight song on it.
After dinner, my parents stayed for a little while, then went home to take care of my dogs. Andrew and I stayed at his parents for awhile; sat outside and had a couple drinks with them. We left around midnight, but we had so much fun and haven’t done that in awhile.
This morning I had a hair appointment with Misty. I wanted to do something a bit more natural. She put in some ash low lights and we still kept my light blonde. I love it!After my hair appt, I went home and got the house ready for kitchen saver to arrive. Before KitchenSaver arrived, I frosted Drew’s cupcakes for his birthday dinner that evening,
Ideally, we want to not put a ton of money into our place, since we are not planning to stay here, but we would like to give the kitchen a bit of a facelift, and it will only make the value of our home increase.
Our meeting with KitchenSaver went so well. They are going to do a cabinet renewal, not a refacing. We picked out our cabinets, handles, faucet, sink, and counter tops. We put a down payment down and saved 10%. We are so excited. We decided to have the install start in January 2021.
I did not have to report to CMU today and Andrew worked from home. I worked on some writing and then watched the new episode of Outlander. It is the last season of this show, and I know I am going to cry at some point.
When Andrew took a break from work for lunch, he went out and brought me home a bouquet of ballet pink roses. He knows I am not a red rose kinda girl.
After he got done with work, I made us dinner. We were going to celebrate Valentine’s Day tomorrow. Andrew planned on cooking a nice steak dinner.
After dinner, we opened our Valentine cards to one another. He picks out such nice cards.
Andrew and I went to the Pitt vs. Miami Game. I thought there were a lot of people there. We are not used to sitting around so many people. Andrew and I had to be careful with our language there were children in front of us, and next to us. It was a close game. Thankfully Pitt won!
After the game, we went grocery shopping, then went home. After we unloaded the groceries, Andrew worked on his homework for class. I polished my nails, and then got changed.
We went over his parents for dinner. Tommy and Megan were there as well with Butters and Waffles. We celebrated Megan’s birthday, and watched the Superbowl.
Oh, yes of course the Superbowl. I wasn’t into it at all this year. It is weird not seeing Tom Brady and company. The half time show was alright. Jlo and Shakira did well, but it was missing something for me. I don’t know Superbowl halftime shows used to be so much better and worth the anticipation.
While we were watching the game, I received an e-mail from Gina. She canceled class due to pneumonia. I felt so bad for her, but I was glad I didn’t have to present tomorrow. We have to turn in our updated problem statements, 1 page summary, and an annotated bibliography of 3 sources next Monday. I will be busy next weekend. 🙂 I did send her a clarifying e-mail to make sure I understand how to do the summary correctly.
After the half time performance, we got ready to leave and head home. Tomorrow is Monday.
This morning, I had a hair appt with Misty at 9:00am. I stopped and got us Starbucks on the way. Once I arrived, I described to her how I wanted only a little dark at my roots, but more blonde. She double processed me and of course I love it! (picture to be posted soon).
After my hair appt, I went to lunch with my mom at this place called Zoup. There is all kinds of homemade soups and sandwiches. It is like a Panera, but I think it is so much better than Panera. I had the tomato bisque with half a club sandwich. My mom had the tomato bisque mixed with broccoli cheddar, and half of a sandwich. I treated my mom to lunch. I do not get to do it very often, but she deserves it.
After lunch, I stopped at the beer distributor and picked up a sampler pack of the Truly spiked lemonades. Drew and I have been wanting to try them, but just never being able to find them.
Once I got home, I did the laundry. I took an hour nap on the couch and just wanted to take some time for self-care. Drew was working from home. When he was done working, we ordered pizza and wings. We got caught up on our shows; Tell me a Story, and Riverdale. One more episode of Tell me a Story, then I am cancelling CBS All Access. It is like $7.00 a month, which is not bad, but we have so many streaming services (Disney+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix).
It was such a relaxing Friday!
In the morning I went to the gym, then came home and I didn’t want to wait. It was the day of Christmas and Nothing brings me more joy then “dechristmasing.” I love taking down the Christmas decorations and putting everything away and getting back to normal. I am not a big fan of all the noise the holidays can bring.
However, I know Drew likes to put up the tree, decorate the house, and he likes to come home to a lit tree. I was so over it. The tree has been up since Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. It was time for it to come down.
When Drew came home, he said I didn’t even get to say goodbye to it. I said I am sorry, but you know how much I like to dechristmas. He said, I know you do. I will admit part of me did miss the tree all lit up, but the local radio station was done playing Christmas music, and so was I.
When did you put your holiday decorations away?
This morning, we got ready and went to Drew’s parents. We hung out ate cookies, drank coffee, and relaxed, until it was time to pick up Aunt Tootsie. I rode along with Drew to pick her up. She had a ton of goodies to bring over. We love it when Aunt Tootsie bakes.
When we got back to his parents, my parents arrived shortly after and so did their family friend Lou. My father-in-law made such an amazing dinner. There was ham, turkey, all the different sides, and fixings.
After dinner, we went to see Grandma at the nursing home. She was so excited to see us. Drew’s mom brought her some treats. She was so happy.
We need to make more of an effort to see her. She loves when people visit.
We had a very blessed Christmas. I hope everyone else did, as well!
Christmas Eve, Drew and I got to my parents for a bit have some snacks, open gifts, then attend 4pm Christmas together mass, then we go home, cook dinner together, and watch it’s a Wonderful Life.
When we arrived to my parents, I got to see my pups Paris and Louie. I couldn’t wait to give them their gifts. We got them both chewy sticks. We figured the chewy sticks would occupy them while we opened gifts.
Christmas Eve mass that we attended is at the church where we got married 4 years ago. The church looks so pretty decorated for Christmas. Of course church was packed with the people who only go twice a year. 🙂 Unfortunately, we are those people.
After church, we went home to make dinner. I made haluski and a beef tenderloin. I cherish this tradition that we have. Sometimes the holidays can get so noisy it’s nice when we can just take a moment and just be with each other and enjoy the holiday.
After dinner, we snuggled up and watched it’s a Wonderful Life. This movie is so special to me. I am so glad Drew likes it as well.
I hope everyone had a safe and blessed Christmas
When I got home from Tracy’s, I changed out of the Snow Princess outfit, and into a cute outfit for our date night. Drew and I were finally getting around to going to Bistecca to celebrate our 4 years of marriage.
Back in October, Drew’s mom and dad gifted us with a gift certificate to Bistecca, a fancy restaurant in the Meadows Casino. Drew was not feeling 100% when we originally planned to go, so we decided to save it and use it over Christmas break.
When we arrived at the Meadow’s, we sat at the bar for a bit and had a drink. We relaxed and talked about the semester ending, and what is next for me in grad school, we talked about our future, and what we want for next year. It was nice to finally be on break, and just relax with one, another.
Around 7:00pm, we went up to the restaurant, and checked in with the hostess. It was going to be a few more minutes so we sat at the bar again, and had one more drink before heading to our table.
Once we were seated, we checked over the menu. Honestly, everything looked so good. We were so hungry. We ordered an appetizer which wasn’t all that great. Once we finished the app, we placed our order for our dinner. Drew ordered a Steak Au Poivre, and I ordered a 7oz fillet. I am a simple gal. The sides are made to share, so we split a baked potato and a side of asparagus.
Honestly, it was perfect and I was so full at the end of dinner and a little buzzed. After dinner, we went downstairs back to the casino area, and drank some Diet Coke and wandered around the endless aisles of slot machines and table games.
When we exited the haze of the smoking section we approached a slot machine titled, “Hot Hot Penny.” I am not a gambler. I don’t like chance. I had three dollars in my wallet in cash. I decided to try my luck. I put a dollar in and kept tapping repeat bet, so many lights, sounds, and mini cross line games of matching icons and figures. It is truly mesmerizing. I noticed the numbers going up where it said amount earned. I saw it was up to $9. $9 was more than what I started with, this is how it works, and the addiction could easily have been conceived right then and there. I hit cash out. No I will not give into the chance that his machine could either increase my $9 or make it disappear in an instant. I took my voucher and put it in tightly in my wallet. Drew said, “Good Job bub.” I smiled. I thought about it some more. I took out another dollar and fed the machine. I hit repeat bet. Maybe I would get lucky once again. I ran out of credits. game over. My dollar was gone. I had one more dollar left in my wallet. I fed the machine. Again, lights and sounds, music, criss cross matching figures, and the amount earned totaled $8. I said that is enough. I hit cash out and tucked my voucher in my wallet. I was so proud of myself. I jumped up and down and Drew said, “Good job Bub!” I smiled.
I was content with my two vouchers. Drew took out his wallet and decided to try his luck. He only earned .15 Drew decided to cash out his .15. So we walked along to the window and cashed in our vouchers. The woman handed Drew his .15 and handed me $17. I smiled and was so proud of myself. Just then, Drew said, “Hey babe, can I borrow a little money to tip the valet.” I smiled and said, “of course.” I handed him some money and Drew went to get the car.
It was a good night.
