Pool Weekend

We spent Saturday and Sunday at the pool.

Saturday, after the pool, we went to his parents’ house. We were celebrating Andrew’s birthday with our families. We got showered and changed at his parents. I packed up all my stuff. The plan originally was after dinner to go to the Helicon brewery, but we decided against it. Andrew and I were worn out from the pool and were ready to head home.

Sunday, when we woke up, we got ready to head to the pool. I was more relaxed than yesterday. On Friday, I turned in my last writing assignment for my summer class. Now I just had one short reading to do, a discussion post, and responses by Friday at 12pm. After those last items, I will be done with my summer class. I am anxious to see my grades. This instructor is different.  I think he will post grades all at once. I have only seen one grade so far and it was a 10/10 on my first writing assignment.

After the pool, Andrew dropped me off at home, so I could get a shower and get some housework done. Then he went grocery shopping for dinner tonight, and for the week ahead. After I got out of the shower, I put some laundry away, changed our bedsheets, threw some clothes in the washer, and when Drew got home, I helped him put away groceries. He was cooking out on the grill tonight. I love when he grills.

After dinner, we started watching John Wick 3: Parabellum. We will probably finish it tomorrow. So far it is so good!

Nancy is on vacation this week. It will be a long slow week. Also, I am still waiting to hear the results of a possible opportunity. I hope this week is the week that I will hear something.

Short Hair Don’t Care

Short Hair Don’t Care

This morning, I had a hair appointment at what I thought was 10am. I woke up and put on my swimsuit and a romper. We were going to go to the pool after my hair appt. When I arrived, Misty was there she was cleaning. I looked at the receptionst and told her that i was here for my 10am with Misty. She said, “your appointment is at 11am.” I said, it is!? She said, “Yea.” Misty came to the front desk and said, “Yea, but you can come on back. I finished my 10am. I was going to call you and say if you want you can come in early.” I said, “I am so sorry, I hate when people do that and here I am doing it.” She said, “Don’t worry about it. come on back.

When I sat in her chair, I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She said, “we can do that. You want to go that short?” I said, “yes, please.” I wanted a change something fresh and new. The next time I see her. I will be going a little darker for the fall. I like to keep my edge up in the fall. I told her I wanted to remain blonde, but not so brassy and bleachy. We decided on ash blonde at the roots and pull some through, but still keep my light blonde look.

When she was finished, I was in love. I felt so much lighter and more relaxed. I figured Drew was going to be mad. He likes my hair longer. It will grow back. He was texting me while my hair was getting done, I was taking a little longer than expected. When I left it was 11:30am.

I pulled up to our house, and he was outside with the pool bag, anxious to get to the pool. When we arrived, I lathered up with suntan oil and put suntan lotion on my face. I got into the shallow end and pulled my hair up in a ponytail. I can’t get my hair wet for at least 24-48 hours. It isn’t as much fun if you can’t get your hair wet and it was a hot one. We stayed until 2:30pm, then I had to get home and finish my assignment for school.

When we got home, my scalp was burned from not being able to get my hair wet and not putting suntan lotion in my hair. I was hesitant about going back to the pool tomorrow. I got a shower and finished my assignment I sent it to Rachel for review. I was anxious to get her feedback on it.

Drew cooked steak kabobs on the grill and we sat outside and had a cigar and a drink. It was a relaxing day and night.

Wave Pool Day

In the morning, we went to the chiropractor and I had a good report on my hip! I don’t have to go back for 2 weeks!

After the chiropractor, we changed into our swimsuits. It turns out the rain was going to hold off until the evening time, so we packed for the pool.

We stopped for breakfast at Eat n Park in a Wexford, then we were off to the wave pool.

Once we arrived we laid down our towels and lathered up with sunscreen. We stayed at the pool until around 3pm, then left to head home.

When we got home, I showered, changed, and sat down to write my paper that is due on July 8th. I really don’t want to do homework over the long weekend, so I am trying to get it all done beforehand. I felt like I got a good start on the draft.

In the evening, Drew went over Mike and Steph’s for a guys night. So I decided to surprise my parents at church for 5:30pm mass, and then go out to dinner. I took them to the Bottleshop in Bridgeville to try something new. While at dinner, I missed my husband. I like how we can just go out and relax and have a couple drinks and chill. It’s different with my parents.

After dinner, I went back to my parents to see my dogs for a little, then I drove home.

When I got home, I put some pjs on and turned on the movie After.

Wednesday

This morning, I posted my original discussion post for my online class. The original post is due by Friday 6/28. The post is based on Neil Postman’s novel The End of Education. I liked Postman. It was an interesting read. I wanted to get my discussion post submitted  early and stay ahead of the game. I am going to start reading the next book, which is called Seeking Common Ground Public Schools in a Diverse Society by David Tyack. The discussion post for Tyack isn’t due until next week, but I will start it this weekend after I finish the book. I also want to start writing the first draft of our paper that is due next weekend, as well.

After work, I went to the gym and it was packed in there. It wasn’t that comfortable in there either temperature wise. I did the treadmill for a mile, then did some strength training and called it a night.

When I got home, I made my sausage keto stuffed peppers, and got a shower, then put on some pjs and watched The Handmaid’s Tale. Season 3 is everything so far! I am so hooked. This episode had me shook to the core!

Spoiler Alert: I am going to talk a little bit about the episode. I really don’t want Nicole going back to Gilead I am hopeful she will stay in Canada. Then commander Blaine being a member of the Gilead crusade and never telling Nicole! I was a little shocked, but not really, when he said his new post was at the front, why else would a driver be going to the front!? I like June (Elizabeth Moss is a bad ass). I do think it was brave of her to record that recording for her husband and tell him that Nicole was conceived out of love and how she loved Nick! I just can’t. I love this show!

Sunday

Sunday

This morning, I woke up and got a shower, I looked in the mirror and saw how red I was on my chest and arms, not so much on my face. I finally got that sun that I wanted to get so badly! Today, is Stephanie and Mike’s youngest son’s birthday, Stephen. I looked outside and thought today looks like a great pool day! We thought about going to the wave pool, but Drew said it was supposed to rain around 2:30pm (it ended up not even raining). It was probably a good thing we didn’t I needed to work on this market assessment evaluation for my adviser. I meet with her on Thursday and I need to have something to show her and I do have a few questions. I am finding that it is not as easy as I thought it was, or maybe I am thinking too much about it.

After we ate breakfast, so Drew could get ready to go to the  grocery store, I put in his work clothes. He was going to grill out tonight, but also wanted to go to the gym. While he was at the store, I started researching. He called me to check and see if we had olive oil, so I got up from my computer and checked. I said, “No, we need some.” Then, we got off the phone. I went back to researching and then he texted and said I am on my way home. I ignored his text and kept working on my project. When he came to the door with the groceries, he rang the door bell. I got up from my computer, and opened the door for him. He carried the groceries into the kitchen and set them on the counter. i asked if he wanted help? He said, “no I got it you go back to researching.” I said, “Your clothes are done in the washer. Do you want me to get them or are you going to hang them up after you put groceries away?” He said, “can you hang them up for me please?” I went down to the basement and hung them up. I put another load of clothes in the washer. He was on his hands and knees looking for a mixing bowl to marinate the steak and the chicken. I walked into the kitchen and saw him I said, “Why don’t you just go to the gym with me tomorrow and prep dinner, and help me around the house so I can get this project started on?” I felt like he was doing too much with little time.  He said, “Alright, I can do that.” I smiled and I helped him with the marinade and then went back to the project.

As I was working on the project, I was running into some road blocks and needed to ask her some questions on Thursday. Luckily, it is not due until end of August, and we are just collecting raw data. I took my computer outside, around 4pm when we started to grill and tried to research one more piece and then I put it aside for the night to enjoy my evening. I was able to get most of the laundry done and I assisted him clean up in the kitchen. Dinner was amazing! Steaks, asparagus, chicken (marinated on the grill). We made extra food for the week. I need to get back to eating low carb if not keto.

Goals of the week ahead:

  • Hopefully hear about an interview for the GSA position
  • Gym
  • Happy Hour with my music Friends on Tuesday
  • Meet with my adviser on Thursday to go over this project
  • Long weekend next weekend

Polar Vortex

I hope everyone is staying warm during this Polar Vortex. I used to never like the cold weather. I used to think it was miserable. As I got older, I found a sense of comfort in the cold weather. When I was studying towards my undergraduate degree at RMU, sometimes I would have to walk from one end of the campus to the other. It was beautiful to walk in the fall and early winter on campus. Even on cold, but not polar vortex cold days, it was easy to breathe and enjoy the scenery on my walk.

However, 10 degrees is too cold for me and polar vortex cold is too cold to enjoy. I stayed home from work today. I wanted to keep an eye on our pipes in the powder room. We have had the pipe connected to the toilet freeze before and it wasn’t pleasant. Andrew worked from home today. I managed to get some homework done so I won’t have to do too much over the weekend. Also, I got my laundry finished, as well. It was productive.

Yesterday, I stayed home from work, as well. I had a migraine and some nausea. This usually happens, around my time of the month. I just stayed on the couch and watched movies and tv. It was nice. I watched a Siesta key, my guilty pleasure reality show, and the movie Cruel Intentions, an oldie, but a goodie,

Tomorrow, we go back to work. Then it’s the weekend!

Stay warm and think happy thoughts!

RMU Winterfest

This morning I got up at 7:45am. I got a shower and put on some gym clothes. I had to head to RMU to help out with Winterfest, but I wanted to go to spin class first. John Locke, my supervisor of my internship as well as my previous professor was the spin instructor. I was so excited about my first spin class.

We listened to Christmas music, throughout the class. It was challenging, but fun.

After class, I went home showered, changed into black jeans and a red Colonials top. I dried my hair and then I was off to help out at Winterfest. I was going to be on hand to help with anything until 4pm, then we were going to Anthony’s Christmas party.

The student program board, set up the build-a-bears and the vendors came and set up for the wax hands, and the bead bracelets. It was nice.

When things started to get underway, John and I went into his office and had our meeting about McDonough. We talked about the abstract that I was tasked to write 300 words and I would have to submit it to him by Tuesday. He also wanted me to come back to campus on Tuesday.

While we were meeting, Ray walked into John’s office. I was surprised to see him. They talked about Theater stuff and Ray is going to stage manage for the musical in the spring. Ray told me that he and Anthony are looking for a place together in the Northside. They fell in love with the one duplex. I knew that was Anthony’s dream to live in the Northside. He is trendy like that.

After the meeting, I went back to the cafeteria and helped the kids clean up. Jordan and I got our pictures taken in the photo booth, and then we had lunch together. Shortly after lunch, I left campus and went home.

When I got home, Drew had the house cleaned up and was cooking dinner. I got up and got a shower and got changed into some party clothes. After dinner, it was out the door to Anthony’s.

When we arrived, Anthony greeted us, but Dylan seemed moodier than usual. He must be upset about the move. However, we still managed to get some Titanic references in.
He wrote on my cup Rose Dewittbukater. He is my Jack Dawson.

We all sat around and talked about Anthony and Ray’s potential new place. We talked about Anthony’s job, and love life. Then Ray and Tony arrived, along with Rebecca and Shelley. Everyone was there.

Ray, Dylan, Tony, and Anthony did the gift exchange game. It was hilarious to watch because there were only a few of them participating. Then we played the game where there is a giant ball and you have to unwrap it with oven mitts, without tearing a hole in it. It is so fun. Meanwhile, someone is rolling dice to get doubles so they can steal it off of you.
After that game, we all took pictures and I think it was around the time to go. I had such a long day and tomorrow was Sunday.
