A Night Out With Stephanie

A Night Out With Stephanie

In the evening, Stephanie came over around 6:30pm. She curled my hair and we drank a couple White Claws. We were going to call for an Uber around 9:30pm. She had never been to a night club before. We were going to go all out. Once we got into the Uber, he drove us down to the Northshore to Tequila Cowboy.

Thankfully, there was no cover. It was still a little early, so I showed her around the night club. When we first walked in, we walked into the Country room. There was a live band playing.  I showed her to the karaoke bar where Todd the bartender still bartends. He used to bartend at Saddle Ridge. He used to comp me with drinks back when I went to the club non stop when I was 21 and 22. I introduced him to Stephanie. We ordered our drinks and I kept my tab open. I wasn’t expecting to get comped, because the 30s are for paying for your drinks.

I showed Stephanie the 90s/hiphop room. It wasn’t too packed yet. I told her this place will be crowded later on. She wanted to go back to the country room, so we went back to the country room and danced on the outskirts of the dance floor. Eventually, we danced in the middle of the dance floor.

At one point, we were dancing and a man made eye contact with me as he walked by and I said, “Oh my God, Mike!” He smiled and said, “Danielle, what’s up!?” We hugged. I introduced him to Stephanie. I said, “Stephanie, this is Mike I have known him since I as a senior in high school. He was a club promotor back when I was 21. He is the reason I was Mardi Gras Queen back in 2013.” Mike and I laughed. He said, “We go way back.” When he walked away, I thought wow time really flies. The scene has changed since I was 21. The 21 year olds look like 12 year olds, and I am only 31. It was 10 years ago that I went out every weekend.

Around 1:00am, we cashed out and our bar bill was only 23.50 for each of us. I was shocked actually. We got comped. 🙂

At around 1:30am we got an Uber back to my house. Drew was on his way back from hanging out with Stephanie’s husband, Mike. We did a spousal exchange. 🙂

Marietta Bound

Marietta Bound

This morning I woke up around 6:30am and got a shower. I was excited to go to Marietta. I had never been there before. I can’t remember the last time I was in Ohio. Drew dropped me off at RMU’s campus. I met the students at the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development Office. I over packed. I had 4 bags and that included my purse. I don’t know how to pack light.

When John arrived with the rental car, we packed our suitcases in the trunk. It was like playing tetris. Zai and Jake sat in the back right before the trunk of the SUV. Dylan, Sydney, and Erica were in the second row of backseats, John drove, and I was passenger. I was so excited.

On the way to Ohio, we stopped at rest stop, so we could change into our dress clothes. Erica and I didn’t want to wear our dress clothes to travel in. We wanted to be comfortable until we arrived, or were close to arriving to the conference.

After we changed and got back into the car,  we listened to Britney Spears the whole way there. I was so happy. Sydney is a Britney fan like I am.  the next stop was Marietta, Ohio!

Once we arrived on to campus, it looked so cute and so historic. I didn’t really do any research on Marietta before arriving, but it definitely had a very chill vibe to it. It seemed like time moved slow there and it was relaxing. There was definitely something spiritually relaxing about the place. IMG_1263.jpeg

The buildings on the campus have this historical and colonial look to them. I like that look it almost feels like you are stepping into history. Robert Morris University’s campus is like that in some ways.

After registration, they served lunch and it was a nice buffet style table with linen table cloths. They had chicken, salad, green beans, and dinner rolls. It was decent food, as well.

After lunch, they had the key note speaker, was Marjorie Margolies. She is the President, of the Women’s Campaign International, and former U.S Congressperson. Her story is so interesting. She is also witty. I enjoyed her speech.

After the keynote speaker, we had to hurry up the elevator Robert Morris University was due to present at 2pm-2:50pm. Once we arrived the room, the students welcome participants to their presentation, and passed out flyers and a pen to each participant. They started their presentation on time, and I was so proud of them. They all worked so hard to get to this moment. They did so well! IMG_1267.jpeg

After the presentation, we went to some different presentations. Erica, Dylan, Jake, and myself went to the Millennials and Diverse Leadership session. It was okay. I didn’t find it that informative.

After the 3-3:50pm presentation, we planned to leave campus around 4pm. We wanted to get back to the hotel and check in and get freshened up before the evening happy hour.

We wanted to snap one picture as a group first.IMG_1276 (1).jpeg

When we arrived at hotel, we got our bags and checked in, I was so ready to get a shower and change. I needed to chill for a little. I was tired from the day already! John let us pick our room keys. I was 217, Jake was 218, Sydney, Erica, and Dylan were 223, and John was 335.

Once I opened the door to my room, it was a nice suite with two beds. I had never been in a hotel room by myself. It felt weird, but I could spread my things out. I laid on the bed and called Drew. We chatted for a bit, then I laid there for a second in the quiet. I didn’t bring any homework with me, and I didn’t turn on the TV. I just took in the quiet for a minute.

I got a shower and changed into jeans and a stripped top with my black flats. I dried my hair and then I got a text from Sydney and Erica. They said come over! I smiled and grabbed my make up bag and room key. I went down the hall and knocked on their door. Sydney did my eyebrows for me and then John texted me asking me what time we were meeting in the lobby to head to the happy hour? I said, 20 mins.

After the girls and Dylan were ready, I knocked on Jake and Zai’s door before going back into my room to grab my make up bag and Kate Spade clutch. I made sure I had all that I needed to head to the happy hour. We met up with John in the lobby and then we all got back into the SUV and drove to the Galley, where the happy hour was taking place.

The sky looked so pretty. It was still a bit too cold to be outside. I enjoyed hanging out with them and taking selfies. They are the coolest group of students I will probably ever work with. We stayed until about 10pm, then went back to the hotel. We had an early day in the morning and it was back home to Pittsburgh tomorrow afternoon. I will miss Marietta.

Personal Day

Today, I took a personal day. I needed some me time and time to get some homework done with this weekend with all that we have planned. I also had a couple errands to run. In the morning we went to breakfast at a French and American Cafe, Cafe Des Amis. I am Boujee (as you know) and I am a bit of snob, but Drew and I went to Paris and we went to England. We have been to great restaurants and not so great restaurants. The food at Cafe Des Amis is awesome, but the staff and service is a C- it can be so much better and should be so much better.

When you walk in, you got to the counter, place your order, pay for your meal and then seat yourself. You have to get your coffee yourself, it is self serve as well as the bottled water, and bottled drinks. I hate that. If I am going out to eat I want to be waited on. The least they did was bring you the food once it was ready.
IMG_0947.jpegI ordered the French toast and it was served on a baguette. It was amazing. The food was so good. Drew got a bacon and avocado omelet. I won’t hurry back to the restaurant at all, but the food was so good.

I don’t know what do you guys think of having to serve yourself pretty much at cafes? Does it bother you?

After breakfast, I went home and started to work on my homework and he went to his annual PCP appointment. I worked on homework until about 11:15am. Then I got ready to meet one of my old colleagues from the radio station where I used to work. He was hooking me up with lunch and Disturbed tickets. I was not hungry at all but he treated me to lunch. I had a small grilled chicken salad. It was good to catch up with him, so much has changed there since I left.

After lunch, I stopped to see my old boss from Fastest Labs, Chris and then I talked to Earl the maintenance man, who also does the maintenance for the radio station where I used to work. The buildings are in the same office complex.

After visiting with my old friends, I went to get my oil change then to the goodwill. At the goodwill, I snagged a blue Calvin Klein dress for $6 dollars and a top that had the tags on it still. The top was $58.00 and never worn. If that is not Boujee on a budget then I don’t know what is. I have become such a good goodwill shopper. I have always found a few things when I go.  I think I am going to wear a blue dress to the ballet tomorrow. I will be sure to post some pictures.

Also, I was able to set up my interviews for my project for Student Development Theory. All-in-all it was a nice and relaxing day.

Christmas Shopping Blackout

After work, we had to do some last-minute Christmas shopping. I don’t want to be shopping up until Christmas, but there were still somethings that I needed to pick up for my mom, and perhaps myself. JOnce we got to the mall, Drew dropped me off at the entrance and he went to go park his car. I walked inside JCPenney’s, a woman greeted me and handed me a coupon for 20% off. I gratefully took the coupon, smiled and said, “thank you.” I walked past the associate and saw all the Santa Claus figures and the Nutcrackers. We don’t have a single Santa Claus in our town home. We need a Santa Claus, but which one? There was one where Santa was dressed in the traditional red suit with sequins, but there was also one where Santa was dressed in a burgundy type cape with the gold staff. Sure, everyone loves the traditional Santa with the red sequined suit with his list and his sack of toys, but I liked the Santa with his burgundy cape and gold wizard staff. There was something mystical about this Santa. I wonder which one Drew would pick?
When Drew walked in, a woman handed him a 20% off coupon and then he saw me looking at the all the different Santa Clauses. He greatly accepted the coupon and said, “thank you” and approached me. He said, “look babe they are on sale.” I smiled. I loved those words, that means we are getting a Santa, but which one? I said, “Yes, they are. Can we get one?” He said, “Yes, we can.” I said,  “Which one do you like?” I said, “I like this one.” I picked up the mystical one the burgundy one. He said, “really? He looks like a wizard.” I said, “you think?” He said, “Yea, I like this one.” He picked up the traditional Santa with the red sequined cape and his sack of toys. I smiled and said, “really? The list is so tacky and traditional.” He said, “this is Santa, he is not some wizard.” I laughed. He said, “We will get both.” I smiled and said, “Are you sure?” he said, “Yes, babe. I am sure.” He looked across from the Santa Claus section and saw they have Nutcrackers. He said, “Babe, they have nutcrackers too. Do you want a Nutcracker?” I said, “I would love one.” We walked over to the Nutcrackers. He asked me which one I like. I picked up the one that had sequined uniform. He said, “I was thinking that one too.” We both smiled.
After we checked out at JCPenney’s with our 20% coupons. Drew walked the Nutcrakcer and our two Santas to the car. We still have Christmas shopping to do. While he was doing that, I walked to the yoga pants and tops section. I thought about how I need to get back to the gym. I saw this shirt will sweat for Rose. That is the truth. Drew met me and we walked hand-in-hand to Things Remembered to place the order for Grandma’s Christmas Stocking, and his dad’s rocks glass that had a cigar holder with on the side. It was cute and so for him. While I was placing the order, Drew stepped out of the store to call his brother to see what to get their mom for Christmas. I suggested they chip in for a gift card to the Sewickley Spa. Things Remembered Said that my order would be in on the 21st. That is so close to Christmas too close for me.
Our last stop was Macy’s. While we were in Macy’s, we were walking around Home Goods. We picked out my mom’s gifts and I saw this adorable Kate Spade mug that I wanted it. When all of the power went out. Drew was over looking at ornaments and I was frozen solid near the bridal section where all the china was. The lights were out for a brief moment, then they came back on again. Then after a few minutes the lights went out again, and then came back on again. This time it was only the emergency power. Drew approached the China section and said, that was so weird!” I said, “Yes, it was.” We looked around the registers were down. We had to leave our things with the bridal consultant, and he would call us tomorrow when the power was on again and the registers were working again. We tried to be productive.

Sunday

This morning, I started my Leadership paper and created an outline and I was glad I got it started. Next weekend was going to be too crazy. Other than being a little tired from last night. I hung out and got caught up on my shows.

That evening, Andrew’s parents came by and dropped off my birthday gift, a coach iwatch 3 band. I have been eyeing this band up for so long now. I need to invest in some leather cleaner. I love the classic C’s it is symbolic of Coach. 🙂

Dip Powder Set

Dip Powder Set

After I finished my paper, and got to work on some other assignments. I treated myself to a trip to Walmart. While I was at Walmart, I got some candy  for the two trick or treaters that live next door to us. We get them the big king size candy bars. I wish I could trick or treat again. lol

While I was at Walmart, I picked up some eye lashes and glue for my witch costume that I will be wearing next Saturday at Leanne and Dan’s. Then I treated myself to a dip powder set. Instead of paying 50 dollars for me to get my nails done at a salon, why not just do it myself? I was a little nervous to try it, but why not. I like to have polish on my nails. or else I bite them.

When I got home, I sat down at the dining room table, while Drew did his home work, and attempted the dip powder. They didn’t look too bad, but it is so involved! There was barely any dry time. I was glad of that.  🙂 They didn’t look too bad when I was done. Now how long will they last is the question. The box said they would last for 21 days. We will see!
