July 4th

This morning, we got up and got ready to go to the pool. We wanted to get there right when it opened. We didn’t have too much time to relax at the pool before our families were arriving for 4th. We were having a cookout. I always wear my American flag dress on the fourth of July dress. I didn’t bother with a selfie this year.

After we came back from the pool the madness set in. Once we came home, I got a shower and got ready for our parents to arrive. While I was in the shower, I listen to music on my phone (I keep my phone in the bathroom, in a glass container. I was listening to Florence and the Machine. I had the music going and the bathroom fan going. Thankfully, I was finishing up, but I heard Andrew yelling for me, “Danielle!” He was standing at the bottom of the stairs. He didn’t bother coming upstairs to tell me that his Dad was 15 mins away with Aunt Tootsie. I got out of the shower, wrapped a towel around me and opened the door and said, “I can’t hear you.” He said, “Turn the music down.” I said, “come up and talk to me.” He just laughed, then said, “My dad is on his way with Aunt Tootsie they will be here in 15 mins.” I said, “Okay, I am coming down.” I got dried off and dressed in my American flag dress. I have to wear shorts underneath, it is a bit too short in the back. It is cut weird. I got it at the goodwill.

When I went downstairs, I started making buffalo chicken dip. His dad arrived with Aunt Tootsie, walked in through the living room and said, “Where’s Dwarfy?” He calls me Dwarfy because I am short. I am 5’3 and everyone else is so tall in this family, including Andrew. I said, “I am in here.” When he came into the kitchen, he said, “What are you making?” I said, “Buffalo Chicken Dip.” While I was waiting for the oven to heat up, I started making guacamole. It was going to be one of those days, where I rarely sit and enjoy the company.
A little while later my parents arrived, the gang was all here. When I went to the movies with my dad, my dad opened his trunk of his SUV and gave me 75.00 of fireworks. I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do with them. I know they are legal now in Pennsylvania, but I have nowhere to set them off. We have neighbors and trees our HOA would be so mad if we burned our grass. I didn’t see how we would have any use for them. Well, last night, Andrew and I sorted through them and we were able to pull some small ones out that we could set off, but the ones that have artillery shells were going to have to wait for another day. My dad is so into fireworks and setting them off, and I think it’s cool, but there is a time and definitely a place for all that. It’s not the same anymore, where liability is a huge issue.
Andrew and his dad cooked dinner outside on the grill. His dad brought his grill, of course, Andrew had his.  It was nice for them to grill together. I was happy they got to spend some father/son time together. My dad hung outside with them as they grilled. I made sure everyone was staying hydrated. Dinner was fabulous; Burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, potato salad, chicken salad, fruit, and Aunt Tootsie’s German chocolate cake! It was nice to spend time together.
Around 5pm, Andrew’s mom left, so did Dad and Aunt Tootsie. I sent some leftovers home for everyone. My dad, my mom, myself, and Drew set off some fireworks in the backyard. I am such a Daddy’s girl. The look on my dad’s face, when I told him we couldn’t set any of those fireworks off was just too much. I hate bumming him out. I am glad we were able to set off some. My mom was talking about making this a tradition. We will see. 🙂

Fathers Day

This Father’s Day, my parents are away on vacation, but as soon as I woke up I wished my dad Happy Father’s Day over the phone. I also posted something cute on Facebook. The plan was originally to go to the wave pool today, and then head to my in-laws for dinner, and try to spend time with the dogs, but Drew and I decided that we probably shouldn’t go to the wave pool, but take our time packing up and then head home, and go to his parents. I kinda felt the same way.
We ate breakfast, took it slow in the morning, and then took our time packing up. I fed the dogs and took them out before we left. The nighttime dog sitter from Rover said, whenever we want to leave could text her and she would be right over. I did just that, but it sent as a text message, not an I message. I tried calling her phone before we left, and she didn’t answer. It went straight to voicemail. Her phone is off. I told my parents and they said, “just go she knows to be there tonight.”
When we left, we went home to our house and dropped off the stuff out of the car. I got changed into a dress to go to his parents. It was a beautiful day outside. it would have been a great pool day, but we were all burned.
When we arrived at his parents, his dad was making steaks on the grill, baked potatoes, and sweet potatoes, corn on a cob, and salad. It was so good! They gave us some things to take home as well. We are so grateful and so blessed. We talked about our trips, and how theirs was, and they asked us about Europe. I miss Europe so much.
After dinner, we had gourmet chocolate covered pretzels for dessert and a truffle fudge cake. I stuck with the chocolate covered pretzels. I wasn’t in the mood for cake. After dinner, we stayed for a while, and dad opened up his cards and he loved his gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Mom got him a gift card to Best Buy.   When we left, we packed up the car and it was back home, to get ready for another week ahead.

Wave Pool

This morning, Drew had a Chiro appointment and I stayed home with the dogs. I took them out before Drew left, and then when he left. I fed them breakfast, and then I got ready to go to the pool. When Drew came home,  I made sure to take the dogs back out again. He got his swim trunks on and then we went to the pool. Anthony and Dylan were going to meet us there, and after the pool, we were going to have them over for a cookout.
When we arrived at the pool, we set our towels down and waited for Anthony and Dylan. Drew hurt his neck that morning. He must have slept on it wrong, so he laid on his towel and rested for a while, before getting in the water. Anthony Dylan and I laid out at the shallow end when the wave session happened, they got their inner tubes, but they couldn’t fit in them, and on them, so Dylan and I started quoting Titanic. he said, “Get in the boat Rose.” I laughed and got on the inner tube. They dragged me through the waves, and eventually, I fell over. It was so funny. The waves almost made me lose my bathing suit.  I need a full piece to hang out with them.
At one point, I made it to the deep end in the inner tube, then the wave stopped. Eventually, we got out, and then went back to laying out. Drew eventually got in the water with us and carried me around like a mermaid. It was so cute, even if he didn’t feel well.
After the pool, we left around 3:50pm, we had to stop at the store and get groceries for tonight. Dylan and Anthony were bringing things as well. We went home and got the dogs taken care of, and then Drew fired up the grill. I fed the dogs, then made macaroni salad, guacamole, and cut up things for the burgers. Dylan brought tortilla chips, and yams, but they were candied yams. He messed up. However, he brought corn on the cob too, and potato salad it would work!
Dinner was a feast! We ate at the dining room table like adults in the air conditioning. We all so burned from a day at the pool. After dinner, we cleaned up, and then went outside to play Cards Against Humanity. I left the dogs inside, but they started howling and screaming. I ended up letting them out but tied them to my chair so they wouldn’t lick and eat things off the deck. I hate when they do that.
After the card game, it was getting dark and the bugs were biting. It was time to head in. I think Anthony and Dylan wanted to leave to get ice cream. I couldn’t fathom eating ice cream right now, ugh. When they left, we straightened up the house, and then it was off to bed.

Jim’s Cookout

Jim’s Cookout

This morning, we took our time getting ready. I made buffalo chicken dip again for Jim’s cookout today. After we got ready, we went to Kirklands first in Robinson Town Center. They had so many cute things for Fall. We bought a set of Halloween mugs that say, “Mr. Handsome Devil and Mrs. Wicked Witch.”

No automatic alt text available.

I loved them. I blame his cousin Melissa for my love of Kirklands. We also saw this orange Pumpkin that had a white H on it. I said, we have to have this. I have been looking for this for our wedding. We have to get married again! We both laughed.
After Kirklands, we went to Bath and Body in the Town Center and looked for some fall soaps. They didn’t really have that big of a selection, so we bought two room refreshers. They are plug-ins both are houses. One is a fall house and  the other is a haunted house. they are so cute. Drew picked them out. He has good taste. We picked a few different scents, then we left.
When we got back home, we brought our purchases in and got ready to go to Jim’s. When we arrived at Jim’s, the party began, but I really wasn’t in the mood to be there. I was so tired from the long week. I just wanted to be home and on the couch.
For dinner, we had ribs, beans, potato salad, chips, and dip. Of course I filled up too much on the snacks before dinner. I didn’t really eat. I didn’t like the ribs, but I had one or two. I just wasn’t feeling it.
After dinner, we played whiffel ball. I think we won the game. I am not sure I can’t remember, that was fun. Of course we played cornhole too. I suck at cornhole, but I try. We stayed until 9:30, then it was time to go home and go to bed. We were tired.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

This morning, we went to the gym. Traffic was a nightmare due to the Memorial Day parade that was happening in Sewickley. Drew had serious road rage. I was a little annoyed. We finally got to the gym, and I hopped on to a treadmill. Drew texted me while I was on the treadmill, and asked if I wanted to play some basketball? I said, “Sure!” It has been awhile since we played and there was no one in the court.

After we shot some hoops, he went into the weight room, and then I went on the elliptical, and did my 30 mins. After that, I did some machines and BSed with Claylene. I feel like I never get anything done when she is there. We just BS, while I do reps. It was fun. Erin was there. She complimented my weight loss. She said, she can tell in my face that I lost weight. I was glad it is noticeable to other people.

After we finished at the gym, we stopped and grabbed 2 twelve packs, and then we went to the grocery store and picked up ketchup, lemon cake mix, frosting, chips, and salsa. We were finally going to have a cookout to ourselves. When we got home, I showered and put on a cute dress which I ruined while I was baking the cake, so there goes that. I went up to change, and then sat outside for a bit, while Drew grilled. We listened to some classic rock radio, and we had so much fun. I love when he cooks out. He enjoys it, and it makes me happy. After we ate dinner, we got ready to watch Black Sails, so far a lot of the key characters are dying since it is the final season of the show. I was not looking forward to work the next day.

Leanne and Dan’s Cookout

This morning, when we woke up, we felt pretty useless from all the food and beer we consumed the night before. I was laying on the couch with Drew, watching television when he got the text from Dan saying the car is done for the most part, and it should be ready by 1pm. Then Leanne texted me asking me if we were coming to the cookout. I really didn’t want to go and neither did Drew. I just wanted to pick up his car and be on our way. Drew wanted to cookout on his grill, and we wanted to be alone at some point during the weekend.

Well we ended up going to the cookout, and Maci was sick. We didn’t bring anything. We offered, but we didn’t need to, so we didn’t. Dan put the finishing touches on the car, and Drew pulled it out of the garage, finally!  We helped them set up the tables, chairs, and tent for the cookout.

At one point Dan started cooking, but then he had to run out and get plates and forks. Everything was behind because he didn’t finish the car on time, and things were rushed. Maci was sick. Leanne was sitting around bullshitting with Gretchen, Shawn’s girlfriend. I was so annoyed. After we ate, we hung out around the table and then they started talking about Bumper’s wedding. George said, “if it even happens. He proposes to every girl he sleeps with.” They all looked at me. I made the motion with my hands like cut it out, stop. It is so awkward when they bring him up, and the fact that I was his girlfriend at one point makes me feel like I am forever marked. It’s fucking awkward for Drew too I am sure. I can’t stand them sometimes. I just put up with the bullshit because I am friends with Leanne.

After the conversation, switched gears we got up to leave. Drew and I had enough of the O’Grodnik House. We needed to go grocery shopping and we wanted to get back, relax, and finish watching Black Sails. I will miss this show. It was full of swashbuckling pirates, Long John Silver, trade deals, and relationships. We said our goodbyes, which always takes a few minutes. Then we were on our way back to Moon. We stopped at the grocery store and did some shopping, then went home and relaxed for the rest of the night.

Jim’s Memorial Day Cookout

Jim’s Memorial Day Cookout

This morning, Drew took my car to the chiro, I stayed back. I wanted to get this laundry done. When he came home, we went to the store and bought the ingredients for the salad to take to Jim’s. We were excited to go to a cookout and just chill.

When we arrived at Jim’s, everyone was standing out front admiring the green shutters, but what color should they paint the door. Ari and I both decided on a Hunter Green, or a Teaspot green would complement the shutters. I didn’t really care, I was ready to drink and eat snacks. Jim took my salad, and came back with a beer. I was so happy, a beer!  Finally we started playing some cornhole. Jim turned up the music, and we had ourselves a party.

Finally, dinner was ready and we had butter burgers, pulled pork, beans, etc. It was yummy. For desert, we had some kind of chocolate brownie, and whipped cream trifle. It was so good. I drank a bit too much. The guys would disappear to do shots every now and then. We would tease them. We played whiffle ball, and I was able to hit it a few times. I even impressed myself. We stayed until 10:30pm, then it was time to go.  I had more fun this time. I don’t know I think because I wasn’t in such a crazy outfit, I came in jeans and tennies to play all these damn games. It was fun. When we got home, we got showered and went to bed.
