This morning, I was up at 7:45AM. Drew had to work from home today. I finished laundry, showered, made coffee, and pancakes for breakfast. I am supposed to hang out with Anthony today. I am waiting for him to come over so we can start the day. I am not sure what we are going to do. I am also waiting for my cousin Mackenzie to come over and drop the stuff off that my mom and I ordered from Amway. The business she is starting on the side. Then, I need to go to my parents to pick up half of the case of Hint water that my mom ordered. She ordered blackberry and peach. Andrew’s mom drinks Hint water. I love it. Then my mom is going to give me the money from her Amway order. Then where ever the day takes me is where I will go. I have thought about starting a new work week yet, but I feel ready though for whatever is coming my way.
This morning, I got up at 10am, got a shower, and had some coffee. I made us pancakes for breakfast, and I watched some episodes of Reign. I am almost finished with Season 4. I will miss this show. Drew got ready to go to the gym, and I got ready to go to my parents in Crafton.
When I arrived at my parents, I noticed there was an unfamiliar car parked next to my dad. I wondered who is here, and they didn’t tell me that anyone was coming. When I walked inside my parent’s house, my dogs greeted me at the door. I bent down to pet them. I walked past them and into the living room. I was curious to see who was there.
When I entered the living room, I looked over to the couch and saw my cousin Bing. I thought oh great, he is going to sing, or he has already sung. It is coming. I kissed my parents, and then sat down on the floor and listened to the older generation talk. This is pretty much my life. I was an only child, so I heard lots of adult talk and Bing didn’t really seem too interested in talking to me, just parents, so I picked up one of my dogs and just snuggled one of them on my lap.
All of a sudden, Bing burst out into song. I looked down at Louie, my dog, who was laying in my lap. His head was turning to the side, and wondering what is all that noise. I tried to keep from laughing. I knew it was only a matter of time. I texted Drew. I said, Bing is here, and he is singing. Drew said, Of course. I had to hold back some laughter. Now you may think I am mean, but it is like the Johnny Angel and the Halos type music. If you aren’t from Pittsburgh and don’t know who Johnny Angel and the Halos are, then think of it as old jazz music, or like “old-timey” 50s music. Not something that I listen to really.
Around 15 mins to 2pm, I kissed my parents and my dog’s goodbye. I had a nail appointment to attend. I drove to the nail salon, and Leanne packed up her nail stuff so we could go to her house. She had enough of the salon and was getting annoyed with the people there. On the way to Leanne’s, my car notified me that there was low tire pressure in the front right wheel.
When we arrived at Leanne and Dan’s, we went inside and she got to work on my nails. Dan came home with Maci, who I was so happy to see! She gave a hug and a kiss. I love her. Dan is a mechanic and has done work for us before on my old car. He put air in my tire and told me that after I drive it, the sensor should go off and I should be good. He handed me a beer, a miller 64. I couldn’t turn it down.
After my nails were done, I drove home to Moon. I had to meet Drew at the house, we were going to get in his car and go to Beaver Valley Mall, so the jeweler could look at my grandma’s ring. It is too small and is going to need more platinum added to it. The ring is starting to get thin. it is 81 years old. I love it! I feel so honored to have it. I wear it pretty much every day.
On my way to Moon, the tire pressure notification was still on and I was really losing air rapidly. When I got home, I kissed Drew, changed, and then we were out the door. We decided last minute to take my car to NTB. We took separate cars. He drove mine and I drove his car.
We took his car to the mall, to look at the luggage for our trip. We needed one more suitcase, he and I both. We needed a bigger one. We found a 30″ at JCPenney’s and it was on sale. We both got one, and then we got the call from NTB. They said I had a small hole the size of a pin. They were able to patch it up until I would need a new tire. I was happy it was fixable, that costs $30.00.
After the mall, we drove to NTB, since they were going to close at 7pm. We picked up my car and took it back home. We then got in his car and went to the store to get a card and a gift card. We were going to meet his parents and his brother at the cafe, in Aliquippa. Well when we arrived, it turns out that Tommy wasn’t there only his mom and dad, which was okay. We talked about everything vegetarianism, LGBT, my ring, my parents, our England trip, their Arizona trip, grandma and we gave them their birthday cards. Andrew’s dad’s birthday was last month. I had grilled cheese with tomato and fries for dinner, and Drew had a burger.
After dinner, they picked up something to take home to Tommy. They kissed us goodbye and then they left. I was tired and ready to go home. I had enough for the day. I really did. I was over it. I got my corrections from my tutor via e-mail. Tomorrow is going to be a long day of homework.
This morning, I woke up around 9am. The dogs didn’t get me up any earlier, which I was happy about. I got them outside, fed them breakfast, then got a shower. When I got out of the shower, Cassie was awake. I asked her what we should do today? I had to stop at my house, either before we go to Oakland, or after Oakland. She said, that it would probably be easier to go before we go to Oakland. I agreed.
After she got ready, we packed up my car, then drove to Moon township. I was so happy to be back there tonight. She helped me bring the stuff in to the house, and put the beer and left over pizza in the fridge. I changed my top and my shoes and then we were out the door again to go to Oakland.
When we got to Oakland, I took her to the 36th floor of the cathedral. She loved the view and took some pictures, then we took the elevator down to the 7th floor and met Drew at his cube. He was going to meet us in Hogwarts, which is the common area of the cathedral.
Once he met up with us, we walked to Primanti’s. Cassie said, that she really liked this campus and thought it was so big, bigger than University of Kentucky. When we walked in to Primanti’s, we went upstairs to the second floor and sat at an empty table. They were pretty busy. The same waiter that waited on Drew and I the last time, waited on us again. The food was awesome and Cassie liked the sandwich, even with the coleslaw on it.
After we left Primanti’s, we said bye to Drew. I needed some coffee. I stopped at Dunkin and got a large coffee for the road. I showed her Heinz Chapel, and told her about the history of the building. I seemed to have forgotten some of it. I used to have to memorize this narrative about the building when I was a docent over the summer, but I forgot some key parts about the chapel.
When we left the chapel, I took her to my building and showed her the home plate from when the building was Forbes field. She took a picture of it. Then, we left Oakland, and drove to Downtown. I took her the same route as the bus, when it takes us into town to go home.
Then I drove her to Station Square, and through southside, so she could see all the bars and where people go to drink on the weekends. Southside holds so many good and bad memories for me. I drove her to the waterfront and I stopped at Target to get motrin and some water. I was starting to have a headache. I needed to be ready to go for tonight. We were meeting Anthony, Dylan, and Drew at Fright Nights tonight.
Around 4:30pm, we left Homestead to go to Kennywood. We hung out in the parking lot, until Anthony and Dylan showed up. Then we all stood in line. She was so excited! As soon as they let us in, we walked into the tunnel that leads us to the park and sure enough there were two actors waiting there to scare us. I jumped a little and they all laughed.
While we were waiting for Drew, we rode a couple rides. One was a smaller coaster and the other was a spinning ride. We walked through two haunted houses. We still had so much more to do. Drew met with us, while we were in line for the vampire haunted house. The one vampire at the end creeped me out. He said, “blondie is mine!” When we exited the house, Cassie and I were the last ones. Anthony, Dylan, and Drew were waiting for us outside the haunted house.
After I kissed Drew, Anthony and I registered for the skycoaster and we bought our tickets. Our time was 7:30pm. They said they could get us suited up now. I was so excited! When we got suited up, Anthony said, “I have been dying to do this with you.” I said, “Well if we can’t date, then we should fly!” He laughed. They got us locked in the apparatus, and then we were laying on our stomachs lifted up off the ground. They gave Anthony instructions what to do, and how to pull the cord. I was so nervous. I knew he would pull the right cord.
When they started lifting us up, we heard the chain lock in place. I was so excited and so ready to fly! Drew, Dylan, and Cassie were standing on the bridge taking a video and watching us, go higher and higher. Anthony and I waved to them and we locked arms until the first swing then we could release them and spread out. I was so excited. I hadn’t done this since I was a preteen.
Once we were at the top, the chain locked and the loud speaker said, “Alright flyers, three, two, one, FLY!” He pulled the cord and down we went. We swung back and forth, and it was so cool to see the entire park, the smoke, the lights, the creepier music. It was the coolest thing in the world. While, I was up there swinging, I felt like I just dropped and let go of all my worries. It was so cool!
After awhile, we had to grab the loop and come down. I was bummed. I could have stayed up there for a little while longer. Once we were unstrapped and on our way to meet up with Dylan, Drew, and Cassie. They gave us hugs and Drew kissed me. He said, “You did it bub!” I said, ” I loved it!” We did the alien haunted house next, then got in line for a Dark Shadows Haunted house, which was alright, then we did an escape the room, and we were so close to solving the puzzle. no one solved it yet. I had never done an escape the room before, after the escape the room, we went into the haunt and it was a voodoo theme. Then we rode the Phantom, Anthony and I rode together. Dylan rode by himself. Cassie and Drew sat this one out. Drew couldn’t fit and Cassie was scared.
After the phantom, we rode one last ride and I shouldn’t have got on this ride. It was called the Black Widow. Drew and Cassie sat this one out. The ride was a spinning ride, and lifted you in the air and spun you around and around. When I got off the ride, Dylan had to help me out of the seat. I felt so queasy. I never used to get that way, but I guess I am getting older. No more spinning rides I said. I was ready to go home after that.
When we got in the car, I drove home to Moon and I was slowly sipping water. Drew got home right before us. I was so icky. Cassie had a great time, and I am glad that she did and that I got sick towards the end. I wanted her to have fun.
This morning I had my hair appointment at 11am, when I walked into the salon I saw Kathie. I didn’t know she was back. I looked at Kim. Kim was like, “Oh hi, I thought you were my friend Danielle.” She was trying to play it off, as if she didn’t plan on doing my hair. I just laughed threw it. These women are so damn strange. I noticed at Leanne’s desk was Lisa L. She works at the University of Pitstburgh and I have been trying to get a job there for so long. I remember I applied for a position in her department, and she told me at one time, that I would definitely get a call for an interview. I knew my time at the music department was coming to end then, and I was trying to be proactive and set up my next move.
Well, I never got that phone call for an interview. Time went on, and when I saw her after she said, that I would get a call and I didn’t, she couldn’t even look me in the eyes, but had Leanne tell me that I just didn’t have enough experience and that I should apply for that job again, and those like that position, when I have more experience. It was a bunch of bullshit if you ask me, she shouldn’t have opened her mouth and said, I was going to get an interview, if they were never going to call me.
When I sat down in Kim’s chair, who does my hair EXACTLY how I want it to look, Kathie asked me how my job search was going. I looked over at Lisa in Leanne’s chair, and back at Kathie and I simply said, “I am supplementing right now, and really don’t want to discuss it, but I am glad you are back.” One has to know how to play the game, when dealing with these people. All she said was, “Gotcha, and thank you.” I am sure she could tell that I didn’t want to go to her anymore, and didn’t want to talk too much about my job situation. The last thing I need is for Lisa to get wind that I already have a position, and tell someone at the University, and etc. I just didn’t want anyone in my business. I had enough.
After my hair was colored and styled, Kathie came over to me and said, “Look at you blondie.” I smiled, and asked her how she was feeling. She said, she is better, but they damaged her vocal cords taking out the breathing tube, so her voice was a little froggy, but it will go away eventually. I felt bad for her. I was glad she was better.
When I got home, I told Drew about who I saw at the hair place, and he thought it was a good idea for me not too say too much. We planned out our evening. We wanted to try this new pizza place, called Brick Oven. It is like chipotle, but for Pizza. It was so yummy. The pizzas were a bit bigger, than personal pans. Then we went to the movies to see Power Rangers. We were both so excited!
While we were in the movie theater, I got so sentimental for my childhood. It sucks being an adult sometimes. During the battle sequence, they played the old theme, “GO GO POWER RANGERS!” I almost cried. I was so excited! At the very end of the movie, the original Pink Ranger, and Green Ranger were taking a picture with their cell phones of the giant transformer the power rangers operated in order to save the day! Drew tapped my leg and said, “Babe, look!” We both couldn’t believe it. There they were. The pink ranger was still cute, but the green ranger, his hair line was receding, and you could tell they were older. When we got home, we went straight to bed, but we kept singing “Go Go Power Rangers.”
