Manicure

This morning I woke up around 9:30am. I had a manicure appointment in Crafton with Leanne. She asked if I wanted to come at 11:00am instead. It won’t take her long to finish up, her one customer. I got showered, got dressed, and texted Anthony back and forth about last night.
On my way to Crafton, I stopped at Starbucks and got an iced coffee with cream, shot of espresso, and whole wheat bagel with fat free cream cheese. I drove to Crafton, and then stopped at Dunkin Donuts for Leanne. She wanted a medium thin mint iced coffee with cream and sugar. I try to treat her every so often.
When I arrived to the nail salon, everyone was there. I set Leanne’s coffee down at her desk. I went back to the back and toasted my bagel. Nikki was there and she talked to me about how she went to Seven recently, and it was sort of fun, but it was weird crowd, and how it isn’t the same anymore. I told her about my night last night and how it just was an off night. Nikki and I used to go out all the time, and we had off nights here and there too.
After I was finished with my bagel, Leanne started on my nails. I had taken off my acrylics, so I just needed a manicure to make the nails stronger again. She didn’t seem all that upset. I told her that Drew and I spent so much money on attractions for our England and France trip. We probably spent close to a $1,000. I didn’t ask him for certain yet what the amount was, but I bet it was close.
After my manicure, I went tanning. I set the bed for 20 mins. I already had a base from when I went on Thursday. I fell asleep in the bed. When I woke up, I had two minutes left in the bed. I just figured I would get up and get dressed. I was ready to head home. When I got dressed, I cleaned the bed. Leanne said she would be in touch about my next appointment. I am shooting for the 19th of May. I want to get a mani before England. I was already getting a pedicure next Sunday for Mother’s Day with my mom.
When I arrived home, Drew was home vacuuming and cleaning the house up a bit. I set my stuff down and kissed him. I went upstairs and got a shower since I went tanning. I changed into grey pants and Pittsburgh Penguins shirt. We were playing tonight. I wanted to show some team spirit.
That evening, we went to South Hills Village mall. I had a 6:00pm appointment at the Apple store with a genius. I needed to get my screen replaced. It was completely shattered from last night. When I arrived, they got me checked in and then took my phone. They said, that I could come back around 7:25 to pick it up, painless. We went to Red Robin the mall, and I had a cheeseburger and fries (I haven’t really been a vegetarian lately). I also had two tall glasses of Coors Light. I was so relaxed. We watched the start of the Penguins game. At a commercial, we cashed out and went back to the Apple Store to pick up my phone. It was ready! It looked like a brand new phone. They encouraged me to get a case for it. I agreed. The cases I like tend to break easily. I don’t have much luck.
We decided to stop at the Verizon store, and pick out a case. There was no one in there. It was empty! They had only 3 people working. The guy who wanted on us, showed us where the cases are located and he said, “Of course we have the Kate Spade case. I said, “Perfect.” I picked out the one I wanted and it was Kate Spade. It has pink glitter on it and a grey stripe, “Sold.” The guy at the Apple store said, my Apple Care expires in October and we are unable to renew it. Typically people just upgrade by then. We asked Verizon if we were eligible to upgrade soon and he said, yes, we have 5 more payments on IPhone 7. Then we can upgrade, so I will be due for one in October. Typically Apple releases a new phone every September. Drew and I are thinking of Upgrading for a Christmas present. The holidays will be limited due to trying to catch up on our finances after England.
When we got home, I got changed and then laid down on the couch with Drew and we watched the rest of the Penguin’s game.  I fell asleep here and there throughout the game. I was tired. After the game, I got up and went upstairs to go to bed. I was having second thoughts about barre in the morning.

Wednesday

Last night, we packed to go to Crafton. Drew had a rough day at work. The system crashed and he texted me saying he wanted to throw up and scream. I felt so bad. I know how hard he has been working for this demo that is supposed to debut on the 13th, so I am trying to be as supported as possible. We had Wendy’s for dinner and watched two episodes of entourage, then packed up. After packing, we watched Siesta Key; the season finale, then went to bed.

Today, I drove into Crafton. We are dog sitting, again! I can’t wait to see my dogs, but it is such a pain to be back home, if that makes any sense. We have to pack, and then be responsible for the dogs. I just want to love them, play with them, cuddle them, then leave, but the responsibility in the middle of the work week, is ehh.

On my way to Crafton this morning, there was an accident in the left lane on the parkway right before the Green tree exit. Traffic was a slow crawl to the exit. The yinzers, who don’t know how to drive. You gotta love them! I texted Nancy and told her I would probably be a few minutes late. She was okay with it.

Once I got to the bus stop in Crafton, it was 7:15am. I didn’t want to wait for a 28x, so I took a g3 into town, then a 71 to Oakland. Drew was smart and got off on the Carnegie exit from the parkway, and went to Crafton that way. I should have done that I was hoping to not be in traffic that long. Being late sucks.

When I finally walked into my building, it was a little after 8am. I was so rushed. I called my mom for a bit, then got to work. I texted Nancy and told her I was here. She said, not too bad for an accident. I agreed. I have done some projects here and there, but today I have meeting with Mel and Jen at 2:30pm, then a 3pm meeting with Melanie. I hope this day goes fast so I can see my pups.

At lunch, Nancy and I went to Five Guys. I have never been there before. I had burgers and fries two days in a row now. I feel so fat. I can’t wait to go to the gym on Sunday. I need to eat better, but it so tempting. I eat salads everyday, but then Nancy asks me what I am doing for lunch? and I lose all control!

The meeting with Mel and Jen went well. We finally are on the same page, and seem to know what to do in case a student comes to us with an issue. After we met with Jen, Mel and I finished our One-on-One. I had some work to do when I got back to my desk, not enough people applied to teach in the summer. They seem to want the research money more than the teaching money. I had to remind a few students to please send in the applications, and I have some organizing to do, but nothing major.

After the meeting, the day flew by. When Drew and I were on the bus, he told me that they were able to restore back ups, since the system crashed, but he is thinking that he is going to have to pass on this weekend’s festivities, so he can catch back up. He feels so pressured. This demo is to take place in almost a week! I am sad that he might have to miss out this weekend, but I understand.

When we got on the bus, I got a call from my dad around 5:00pm. He called to ask me if I got home yet? I said, “No I don’t get out until 4:30pm. I get home around 6pm on a good day. You know that.” He said, “I know. I am sorry.”  I said, “I will call you when I get home.” I hung up the phone and gave Drew a look. He shook his head. They didn’t get the pet sitter to come today, because they left around 10am, but they should know what time I get out of work, and when I get home by now. I was just so annoyed. Nothing seemed easy today.

When we finally got to my parents’, I let the dogs out and they went to the bathroom and they were fine! After I fed them, my mom texted me and asked if the dogs were ok? I said, of course, I would text you if something was wrong. I just want them to back off. They should have had someone come to the house today, but since they didn’t they are up my ass about it. I am doing the best I can. I can’t control traffic, or when I get to leave work. I got it guys.

After I fed them, we ate dinner, then I got a shower and we watched a little of Pens game,  then turned on Entourage. I am just not in a hockey mood yet. I feel as though it just ended, but it was cool to see the banner be raised, and Sid come out with the cup. I didn’t feel like going to bed until 11pm. After two episodes of Entourage, we started to watch the Lady Gaga Documentary 5 foot 2. I like it so far. I started dozing off, but I had to get the dogs out one more time before I went to bed.

Car Troubles & Yoga with Maci

This morning, I was still reeling inside from yesterday. We did however, go out and try to get some business. We were hoping for a good day. We visited some businesses, Burns and Scalo said they want to revamp their drug and alcohol program and want us to meet with them sometime in the couple weeks to go over what we have to offer. I told Chris to go to Burns and Scalo a long time ago. I was nervous to walk in there, it wasn’t a good experience, working there.

When I walked into Burns and Scalo, the receptionist is an older middle aged woman, and the HR coordinator is new. The CIO is the same. We passed each other on the way to the HR coordinator’s office, which is now on the other side of the building. Also, as we were walking in a familiar sales executive was walking out, I forget his name, but he was odd. It was weird being in there. When we left Burns and Scalo, we drove around to the surrounding areas, and nothing major happened there. They just took our business card, and a brochure. Before we went back to the office, we went to the Amazon Fulfillment center. We were hoping for a good outcome.

When we walked into the Fulfillment center, it looked like a prison break. Everyone was starting to leave at the same time. We thought it was a fire alarm. We were waiting for the HR coordinator to come to the window, someone was supposedly getting her for us. So Victoria and I waited, and waited.

Finally, Victoria asked someone where they were going. He said, “oh we are going on break.” She said, “You guys get to all go at the same time?” He said,”Yea, are you going to start working here?” We both said, “No”, at the same time. He laughed and said, “Aww Damn.” We both looked at one another and gave each other a look. Finally, the HR coordinator came to the window, and approached us. She looked familiar, then I realized I went to grade school with her. Her name is Julie. She remembered me, but it wasn’t going to help. She said, she would pass this off to corporate. They typically do hiring events, and bring everything with them, so they pretty much do it themselves. That was a lost cause. Time to go back to the office.

Once we got back to the office, I told Chris all that happened, and he was glad we had some success, especially with Burns and Scalo, so he drafted up a proposal, and sent it over to them, and will follow up with them in a few weeks. I just get so frustrated with them. We could have had their business a lot sooner, than this, but he never went out to sell. He just hung out with us in the office, expecting us to cold call.

After work, I changed in the bathroom and then got in the car, and went to Autozone to pick up the parts for Drew’s car. Then went back to my parents in crafton. My dad bought me subway. After I picked up the subway, I went back to my parents to eat. After I ate, I kind of laid down on the couch with the dogs for a minute, then got back up and went to Leanne and Dan’s, once they got home from going shopping.

When I got to Leanne and Dan’s, I hung out with Leanne and Maci, until Drew arrived. Once Drew arrived, Dan started working on his car. Apparently, shock plugs are typically easy to replace if you don’t run into any issues. Well, they ran into all sorts of issues. The one side, the bolt had to get re-threaded and he had to do that tomorrow, because it was going on 9:00pm, and no place was open.

At one point, they had to stop and get some parts, and a bigger wrench, etc.  Maci and I did yoga and documented it on Facebook live.  Finally, we just decided to leave and come back tomorrow to pick up the car. Drew asked if I could swing by after work and pick up his car if it was done. I told him I could, but I can’t wait for it. I have plans to meet up with Paula and Phil for a drink in Oakland. They are done at 3:00pm, due to the holiday. I was a little pissed, like I am not going to stop my plans, just so you can have your car to take to the chiropractor. We will take mine instead, and get there just fine. When we got home, the Penguins game was still going on, so Drew stayed up to watch it end in Overtime. I got a shower, and went to bed.

6 Months Smiles Consult

This morning, I woke up when Drew left for work. I got ready and drove to my parents to drop off my car. My mom took off work today to go to the dentist with me. I wanted her to sit in on this consultation with me. The consultation was free. I wasn’t sure about this. I am not sure I want braces as an adult.

During the consultation a girl took a mold of my mouth, in case I choose to do this, then the molds will be ready to go to be sent off to a lab. She also took pictures of my mouth, almost every angle imaginable. I had to put in cheek separators and she even took a birds eye view of my teeth. Then, we met with Dr. Barber. He explained what COULD happen if I do not get this done in the future to my teeth. I could have a tooth chip, or lose a tooth due to the fact that the bottom teeth pushed them out, because they weren’t straight. My crowding could get worse, and make it harder to clean, and my gums would get more inflamed. I felt very educated and informed when the consultation was over. The cost however is steep for us right now. $5,000 dollars roughly is what it will cost to have this procedure. I will have to keep the braces on for 4 months, then they will put in a fixed retainer to keep them straight, and to keep them from moving back.

Upon leaving the consultation, I received a folder of information, and a cost breakdown for Drew. My mom and I went to lunch at Eat n Park, then did some shopping at Penney’s. It was nice to get out and have a day with my mom. After we went shopping, we went back to Crafton. I stayed at their house for awhile, to see my dogs. I left around 3pm to go home. I was ready to see Drew and talk to him about 6 month smiles.

CCAC Interview. Ohio with Dad. Fish Fry

Today is the first Friday of Lent, so that means Fish fry! This morning, I got up around 7:30am, and got a shower, dressed for my interview, and then made my way out to CCAC in the North Hills. We were supposed to get some snow today, so Drew let me take his car instead. When I arrived at CCAC, I parked the car, and thought how cool is this? I am back at the campus where it all started for me. The friendships I have made, the struggle through math class, Sarah and I stopping at Sheetz before class, and ice cream at Brusters sometimes after class. I had two or three classes here at this campus, but it was so cool to be back. The same receptionist sits at the front desk still, after all these years. She and I talked a bit about how I used to go here, and how long she has been working here. I told her I was here for an interview with the Career Services Department, then the woman that I was interviewing with came around the corner and said to me, “Please tell me I told you, 10:00am? I said, “Yes you did, but I am always early.” She gave me a couple papers to fill out, and asked me to wait at the café. She will be down to get me. I went to the café, bought a small latte for nostalgia sake, and sat down at the table to fill out the papers.

As I was sitting at the café, a boy looked in my direction from down the hall. I didn’t recognize him. I am sure the people that I used to know here are long gone, and moved on from this place. A little while later, the boy appeared again, and made his way to my table. I saw him walking towards my table, so I kept my eyes focused on my papers, and then looked at my phone. I didn’t want to draw his attention to me. I wanted him to go away. I didn’t want him to think I was interested. I could tell there may have been something wrong with him. A minute later, he walked away. The woman who was interviewing me approached me, and took me up to the third floor where my interview was going to take place. When we made our way to the room, two men were coming out of the room. They were confused about the time and location. She said to them, “No you are in the right place.” She introduced me to the gentlemen. They all had a part to play in the career services department. Their titles escape me now. They were seated in panel style. I passed out my resume to them and the interview was underway.

During the interview, she told me about the position, my duties, and who I would be reporting to, the hours, the wage, etc. She said the position is part-time. One of my duties, would be to create resumes for students to use as template for their own. Wait what? I had to create my resume on on my own. Well Drew helped of course, and maybe Emily did too at Pitt, but it was up to me to make my own resume, and make the connections. This is babying at its finest. I don’t like that all. Part of the journey is figuring this out on your own. Well and as time went on, and my experience grew, and I started working at Pitt, Emily helped me with mine, but still I had to seek the help out on my own.

Suddenly my wrist band started to vibrate, and I looked down at my wrist casually, and saw it was a phone call. I thought maybe this is Pitt. Maybe this is them! I felt the need to be honest during the interview, and I told them the honest truth. I am looking for a full-time position, so just to be upfront. Also, I am waiting on results from a second interview that I had with Dean Davis, in the social work department of the University of Pittsburgh. She said that she was an alumnus of that University, and has her Ph.D in Social Work and is familiar with Dr. Davis. What are the odds!? She said, thank you for being honest and if Pitt is what you want, then we wish you the best of luck! I kind of figured that I wasn’t going to hear back from them.

After the interview, I drove to my parents.’ I told my dad I would go to Ohio with him. He had to make the final payment on an end table, and pick it up today. Afterwards, we were going to go to the Dutch Haus for lunch.

On the way to Ohio, we drove through a snowstorm. We couldn’t see 10 feet in front of us. We made it to Sheely’s safely, then to the Dutch Haus. Once we go to the restaurant, I wasn’t all that hungry, so I had the salad bar, and a cup of soup. I had to be careful what I ate. It was Friday, so no meat. I didn’t want to spoil dinner either since we were getting fish from Moon’s fish fry.

Once we got back to Crafton, I stayed at my parents for a while, so I could see the dogs and keep them occupied while my dad set up the end table. When he finished the end table, I left to go back to Moon.

On my way back home, I stopped at the Fish Fry and picked up our dinner. Fish isn’t good cold, so I was going to have to reheat it when Drew gets home. When Drew came home, he brought us beer and I reheated the fish. It was yummy. We were ready for the weekend to begin!
