Halloween 2018

This morning, I helped out at the RMU football game. It was student government day, so every student, who swiped their freedom card and received a ticket, could vote for their organization of their choice. The organization with the most votes would win $500. The band, who belongs to the KKY organization, didn’t swipe in, but wanted to vote for their organization. The student worker that I work with, Jordan, she is a member of Sigma Kappa and wanted her organization to win. I actually am not sure, who won, but KKY did  get the most votes, but not sure if they count since the band didn’t swipe in.

After I got home from the football game, I went home and grabbed my acrylic dip powder set, and went to my parents. I did my mom’s nails. Then I went home to do some homework, until it was time to go to Leanne and Dan’s. I couldn’t wait to get all dressed up.

After I got my witch costume on, I put my make up on, and ended up dropping the eye lash glue cap down the drain. Drew had to take off the p-trap and get the cap out. I was a little off that night. I was starting to get a headache as well. I was a little hormonal, but I just had a day of being on the go and no time to catch up.

When we arrived, to Leanne and Dan’s, we knocked but then walked into the house. No one was in the living room. We walked inside the living room and I yelled, “Hello?” Maci came down the stairs dressed as a mermaid. She gave me a big hug she looked so cute.
44946624_10156822124644712_6338108845302218752_nShe is getting so big. I miss her being so little. I could tell that she is kind of a little uninterested in hanging out with me anymore. I am not around enough. It breaks my heart a little. I don’t live close to her anymore, so I don’t get to see her as often as before. Leanne hangs out with other moms, who have children that are friends with Maci. One of the mom’s was there and Maci was playing more with her and not really siting with me, and being around me like she used to. I will always be her Daniel, but she is growing up now.

I walked over to the stairs and shouted up to Leanne and said Happy Halloween! She said, “Hey broad.” she was up getting ready. Drew went down to see Dan and the rest of the boys. I went upstairs to say hi to Leanne before making my way down to the basement. Leanne was still getting ready with her friend. Eventually, I made my way down to the basement to join Drew and the guys. At one point, Nikki and Paul came in and Paul was dressed up as the mad hater and Nikki was dressed up as Alice and Wonderland. It was good to see them. I haven’t seen them in a while.

Andrew and I didn’t stay long. We left around 10:30pm. I was tired from having an early day that day. I needed to go home and go to bed. I had some homework to do tomorrow. Halloween was different this year

Halloween 2018 Movie Review

Let me first start by saying that I am in love with the Halloween franchise. My dad let me watch my first horror movie with him at the age of 6 or 7. It was a father/daughter thing for him and I. We share the love of horror movies.  since I first saw Halloween II (the original from the early 80s) when I was probably in about 4th grade or even 5th grade? My friend Amber had the VHS. She brought it over one night, when she slept over. I remember being so scared. She and I watched all the movies several times in our friendship and I started collecting them on DVD.

I am a huge fan of the original Halloween the 1978 version. It is the original Halloween. The special effects were cheesy, the acting was mediocre, and Michael Myers was so bad ass and creepy. Halloween II picks up where Halloween 1 left off. This time Laurie is in the hospital and eventually escapes Michael and he goes up in burning flames at the end of the movie. This is the movie where she finds out that she is Michael Myer’s sister.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch, there is no Michael Myers, so I never bothered with it and haven’t bothered to watch it.

Halloween 4 and 5: No Laurie, but she had a daughter who is being taken care of by a foster family, who has an older daughter, named Rachel. Jamie knows who her mother is, but not what happened to her, or why she is having nightmares of the boogeyman.  Eventually she is confronted by the boogeyman, and Rachel eventually figures out that the boogeyman is Jamie’s uncle. At the end, Jamie touches Michael’s hand, and ends up getting infected with the murderous desire to kill. Jamie kills her foster mother.
Halloween 5 Jamie suffered PTSD and is now unable to speak and is deaf from the gun shot wounds that were fired at Michael, or by touching him. She needs to use sign language to communicate. She lives in an orphanage. Rachel goes to see her every so often, but Rachel is eventually killed off and so are her friends. Jamie lives on at the end of the movie, but then we don’t hear from her again.

Halloween: The curse of Michael Myers. This was the scariest of them all. When Amber and I watched it we couldn’t fall asleep that night. Laurie Strode’s relatives live in the Myer’s House, which is across the street from a now grown up Tommy Doyle, who is played by Paul Rudd. Tommy Doyle was the little boy Jamie was babysitting in the first Halloween. He is determined to be ready for when Michael Myers returns to Haddonfield. Tommy Doyle and Kara strode team up to defeat Michael Myers.  The actor who plays Dr. Sam Loomis passed away after this movie was made.

Halloween H20: It has been 20 years since the first Halloween took place. Laurie Strode is back, but she changed her name to Keri Tate and is a teach at a prep school. She still is shaken up by the events that took place 20 years ago. She has a son, Josh Hartnett. His son has a girlfriend, Michelle Williams. Michael comes back on Halloween night to kill his sister. Laurie manages to survive along with her son and his girlfriend Molly. Laurie chops his head off with an axe.

Halloween Resurrection: Laurie is in psychiatric facility for killing the wrong man! On the roof of the facility Laurie and Michael battle it out, but he stabs her and she falls off the roof the building into the bushes. There is a reality show being tapped at the Myers’ house,  A Dangertainment production. College students are recruited to stay the night in the Myers’ house and be wear little cameras that will broadcast live to the viewers. Busta Rhymes makes it out alive, so does Rachel with the help of Decker her online boyfriend.

Rob Zombie made two Halloween films and gave the back story as Michael as a childhood, and it was gruesome and good. He did a create job I think of giving the Halloween fans a good artistic take on the Halloween franchise. Michael was more of  bad ass, and still iconic.

Halloween 2018: I have been waiting so long for this movie to come out. I read some things like don’t expect it to follow the previous movies, it’s an artistic take. This will take place 40 years after the first movie, and etc. Michael was older and grey, but still frightening. Laurie Strode suffers PTSD and has become a shut-in and lives in an house that is built for a zombie plan; cameras, and high tech security, and even a bomb shelter type basement equipped for survival. The movie was gruesome and full of gore. I didn’t like the story line. I was expecting more. I  thought the best part was the murders and the blood, and of course seeing Michael Myers. However, I did not appreciate how they portrayed Laurie. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I just didn’t care for this film and how they went about it. For me, the Halloween franchise deserves better and deserves more.

I am still a fan of Michael Myers and the Halloween movies, but I will stick the original, the older films, and Rob Zombie’s version.

Labor Day

We spent a few hours at the wave pool, soaking up the last pool day of the year. I am already looking forward to next summer. I will miss laying out by the water and going to the pool. It was pretty packed. The guy got on the intercom and made the announcement that they will be closing for the season at 3:30pm today. He made that announcement every hour.
When we left the pool, we went to Bath and Body works. I needed some scent plugins for Fall. When I do homework, at home in our office I like to plugin the stress relief scent. I wanted to get a couple of those as well. We also bought a Halloween candy dish, but I think it is a dish that you set your jar candle on.
After bath and body works, Drew dropped me off at home and then he went grocery shopping. I needed to get a shower and sit down and do some homework. I wanted to finish my summaries for my Monday night class, or at least start them. They are due next Monday (9/10). I am just trying to take it one assignment at a time.
When Drew came home, I helped him put away the groceries, and we watched the Season 6 finale of Smallville. I can’t believe we are about to start Season 7. I haven’t watched this show in so long. I am glad I got him into it. I look forward to seeing Tom Welling!
After the season finale, I worked on the budget proposal for my internship with RMU. I sent him what I had so far. It is not done, but it is a step in the right direction. I heard back from him and said, thanks for doing this and we will be in touch about the official on-boarding process soon. I imagine people were taking long weekends being that is is Labor Day weekend. When it was time for bed, I couldn’t fall asleep. I tossed and turned. I love long weekends, but they through me off.

30th Birthday & 2 Years of Marriage

Today, I am 30 years old. I feel pretty good about it surprisingly.

This morning, we went to Starbucks, when we got off the bus and I got my usual. A venti blonde roast with a pump of pumpkin, and room for cream. Since I am a Starbucks reward member, I get a free Birthday drink. Drew got his usual, venti iced coffee with a shot of espresso.

We parted and went to our buildings, I called my mom and she wished me a Happy Birthday. We talked for a bit, then when I got off the phone with her I got some work done. I don’t have too much going on right now, but that will probably change tomorrow, after I meet with my DGS. It will make the week go by faster.

When Nancy arrived, she brought me a blueberry muffin, and wished me Happy Birthday! I told her thank you! I was glad I didn’t get any pastries at Starbucks this morning!

At 11:45am today, I met Drew at the bottom of the escalators and we went to lunch. He was so cute. He held my hand, while we walked to Stacked. He asked me how my day was going and if I was having a good birthday so far? I said, I was a having a great day.  We walked to Stacked together.

When we arrived at Stacked, they aren’t so busy. It was nice. We got right in and got a table. We both did a build your own burger and curly fries. Lunch was so good. After lunch, went to the book store and he bought me a Pitt phone case, since mine broke this morning. I really need a case, this phone has to last me.

After we left the bookstore, we went back to work. I didn’t want to go back at all. Thankfully the day went by quickly, and it was time to meet up with Drew again to catch the bus
Image may contain: 2 people, including Andrew Hornyak, people smiling, food and indoorWhen we got home, we made dinner and he went to the store. He got me flowers and two cupcakes so we both could have one, while he sang Happy Birthday to me. After dinner, we watched Halloween II. It was a great way to start a new decade. I felt so loved and so happy.

Lawrencville; Dive, Blue Moon, Scarehouse

This morning we took our time getting ready, then we went to Home Depot to get the order finalized for our sliding glass door, then we went to Eat n Park to meet my parents there. When we arrived to Eat n Park, I greeted my parents, then my mom whispered in my ear, just so you know, “Amber’s mom and Zach are here.” I looked up and saw them at a booth by themselves. I had this awkward look on my face for a second. I approached the table and Zach got up and gave me a hug. He asked how I was doing? I said, “I am well. You?” he said, he was doing good. I said, “hi” to Amber’s mom. We chatted small chat for a bit, then Andrew came up behind me. I reintroduced Andrew to Zach and Amber’s mom.
Then I went back to the booth with my parents, and thought it was so random that they were there together. I ate lunch and relaxed with my parents. When Zach was leaving, he came back to the table and said goodbye to us before he left. When we left, Celeste, my mom’s childhood friend and her family were seated at a booth by the entrance. We stopped and talked to them for awhile. I said, “Wow I am seeing everyone here today!”
When we finally left Eat n Park, we said goodbye and thank you to my parents, then went to Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up the soap dish that matches our bathroom set. It was $16.00. I forgot I had a 20% coupon at home, but they didn’t bother to honor it, oh well. When we got home, we did some laundry cleaned up, and watched the ending of the Pitt game. Then Anthony was on his way over around 5:00pm.
When Anthony came over, we all got into Drew’s car, and then drove Downtown to kill some time. We didn’t have to be at Scarehouse until 9:00pm. When we arrived in Market Square, there was this urban festival going on. They had vendors there selling food, and handmade crafts, a DJ was playing music. It was alright. Drew had to use the restroom, so Anthony and I played this big game of Jenga, while we waited for Andrew. Well I lost and the bricks came down, so we started walking towards Starbucks, that is where Andrew was. He was walking towards us.
When we left Market Square, we drove to Lawrenceville, and we parked in the same parking lot, where we park when we got to the Blue Moon. We went to eat at Dive and it was this little hipster type bar. The food was awesome! We had never been there before.

After dinner we went to the Blue Moon for a drink. This was going to be Andrew’s first time at a gay bar. I was excited and nervous for him. It was still early yet, so I was hoping it was going to be very low key. There were only a few people in the bar, which was nice. I wasn’t sure what Andrew was thinking. We took a seat at the bar. Andrew was in the middle, Anthony on the one side of him and me on the other side of him.
Our Bartender was a drag queen, who was not done up in Drag.  She did look familiar. Her name was Cindy Crotchford. I have seen her perform before here. We chatted off an on for a bit. I had two beers, and I was so full. One gay guy approached us and said, it is hard to tell, who is straight and who is gay in here sometimes. I said, “Well my husband and I are straight. We are allies.” We held up our wedding bands. Drew was laughing a little. He said, “Yea I am gay, but I got one of those too.” He held up his wedding band. I said, “Well congratulations.” He said, “Well we have been partnered for 20 years, but he is at home and we have an open relationship.” I said, “Oh okay. Well that wouldn’t work for us, but it is whatever works for you.” He smiled and turned and walked away. I looked to Anthony and he looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and I said, “I am sorry, if that was awkward for him.” Anthony said, “Whatever there is a lot of that here.”
Before we left, I had to use the bathroom. Drew put his hand in mine and said, “Come back to me bub.” I laughed. I said, “I will.” When I returned, Andrew said will you come with me to use the bathroom? I laughed even more. I stood outside the bathroom door with him. When he was finished, we went back to the bar with Anthony. Drew whispered, “What is prep?” Anthony and I explained what it is and Drew was like, “Oh okay.”
When we left the Blue Moon, I said to Drew, “I am so proud of you!” He said, “thank you, but I bet if I went at a busy time it would be too much.” Anthony and I smiled at each other. When we arrived at the Zoo parking lot, to be bused over to Scarehouse the lot seemed pretty dead. There was one actor there trying to scare people. He had flashing lights on his gloves and zombie make up. It didn’t look scary at all. I thought oh this is going to suck.
When we got on the bus, and got to Scarehouse we waited in line for a what seemed like forever.  There was this serial killer bunny going around dancing. It was dumb. When we got inside, there was no story line, just rules and regulations. The walk-through wasn’t scary at all. The only part that scared me was the clowns. This clown, who was so freaking tall, he had contacts in to make his eyes even creepier.  I almost cried. I can’t. I hate clowns. Clowns are my biggest fear.
When we walked out of the Haunted House, I was totally disappointed. There were some crew outside promoting the basement. They said, if you want to do the basement, then we can take you down right now, there is no line. I said, “How much is it?” They said, “25 dollars a person.” I asked, “What exactly  goes on down there? I have read so much on it, and it was really negative.” They said, “No nothing goes on down there that is all that bad, but you only go on in two at a time. Some walk-through are completely dark. They can touch you and wiggle around you. It is a very up close experience and more intense. It is solely dedicated to you and your experience.” We all are thinking of doing it at one point, but not that night. We were so disappointed with Scarehouse and thought Hundred Acres Manor was the best so far. Thankfully, the tickets for Scarehouse were half off. Once we got home, we said goodbye to Anthony, then we went inside and went to bed.

Hair Appointment/Date Night

This morning, I had a hair appointment in Crafton at 10am, so I left the house around 9:30am. Drew went to the gym and to Dr. Bailey’s. I finished my last dose of anti-viral medicine today. I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to drink a beer, but I have to wait a week, unfortunately.
At my hair appointment, I wanted to do something different with my hair. I wanted to go a little darker at the top, but still keep the blonde going down through my hair. I was a little nervous when the color was on my head. I went to the bathroom at one point and looked in the mirror and thought holy cow. I hope this isn’t too dark.
When she washed out my color, trimmed, styled my hair I was in love. It looked much better dry. I told her my concern and she laughed. We talked about my shingles and she said, that her boyfriend at it on his neck, and it was so painful. He went to MedExpress and still went into work, and he does construction. I was shocked.
After my hair appointment, I went to my parents to see my dogs, and they gave me the gifts they brought back from DC. I felt a cramping in my stomach. my monthly visitor had arrived. If it isn’t one thing, with me it is another. I was glad it was here, so I could stop bloating and feeling a little gloomy. I just have been going through so much it seems, but I have to keep reminding myself it could be worse.
My parents and I went to breakfast at Hanlon’s and it was nice to see them and hear about their  trip. We talked about my job, and how it is going. They are glad that I am happy and that I am finally where I want to be. After breakfast, I went home to Drew. He was doing little work on his computer. I gave him his shot glasses and he was feeling a little out of it and I was cramping. We both were a mess. I took an 800 milligram motrin that knocked the cramps right out of me.
At one point, Drew asked me if I wanted to go to Central and go on a little date. I said, that I would love that, but I don’t know when I am going to be hungry. He said, that was okay and said we could go around 5pm or 6pm and still have the evening. I liked the idea of it. I did some laundry and we watched the Pitt game. I did some tidying around the house, then it was time to go to dinner. I put on a cute top and some jeans for dinner. I could tell I was still so bloated, ugh.
At dinner, I just had French Onion soup and a small side salad. Drew had an omelette. I was still pretty full from breakfast. It was nice to get out and have dinner together. looking around, I did notice that we were the younger ones without a child having dinner at this hour.
After dinner we went to Spirit Halloween store, and he got his costume, and I got the make up for my costume, and a Michael Myers mug. I love this time of year. I can’t wait for Fall. October is such a busy, but fun month for us.

When we got home, we got changed into our pjs and we started to finish watching the movie My Cousin Rachel, when my phone rang. I picked up the call and answered it. Dylan was on the line and he wanted to know what Drew and I were doing tonight? I said, why aren’t you guys out at a bar having fun? He said, well Anthony wants to go, but he wants to go hit on guys and I will be the third wheel. I said, “well I can’t go out tonight to a bar.” He said, “yea, I figured. do you guys want to go bowling or something?” I said, “That could be fun.” I asked Drew and he was down to go bowling, then Anthony suggested a Haunted House. He said, “Lets go to Hundred Acres Manor.” I asked Drew and he wanted to go too. I said, “Yea we are down, come on over and we can all go in Drew’s car. We have to get ready. We are in our pjs.” They laughed and we hung up the phone and got ready to leave.

When they arrived, they got in the backseat and we were on our way to Hundred Acres Manor. On the way, we stopped at GetGo. Drew and I got energy drinks to keep us alert and awake. We blasted music, and gossiped the whole way there. I was hoping it wasn’t too much for Drew. He hears a lot of things, when we are all together.
Image may contain: Anthony Lombardo, Dylan Murtha, Danielle Hornyak and Andrew Hornyak, people smiling, beard, eyeglasses, closeup and indoorWhen we arrived to the Haunted house, we couldn’t wait to get in. The actors were scaring people in line, and there was this clown that new Dylan and Anthony. It was creepy. Once we were inside, I got so scared and so excited. The Dead Lift was where they put you in an elevator and the elevator attendant was gay, but the actor was dressed as a zombie. When we first entered the elevator, he said, “everyone get inside and put your backs against the wall.” Immediately, Anthony and Dylan turned with their stomachs against the wall and the butt out. It was hysterical. The actor even tried not to laugh. I said, “Guys he said put your backs against the wall!” I was cracking up laughing.  My favorite was Foggy London town theme where everyone seems to have been dying from the plague.
After the Haunted House was over, we were all so excited for Scarehouse next weekend! I felt so amped! When we got back to our house, Anthony and Dylan got in their car and went back to Anthony’s. We went inside and got ready for bed. I wasn’t all that tired, but I figured I would sleep eventually. Andrew was tired, but woke up in the middle of night, and couldn’t fall back asleep right away. I guess we shouldn’t have had the energy drink.

Steelers Game, Dinner at In-Laws

This morning, we checked over my application for grad school, and I submitted it. I couldn’t believe I was doing this. I won’t know anything until November. We got ready, watched an episode of Entourage, then went over his parents around 3pm. We had stop and pick up some charcoal for his dad.
When we arrived at his parents, we hung out and watched the game. We ate steaks, potatoes, green beans, corn, coleslaw, hot sausage, hot dogs, and had pumpkin roll and mac’s donuts for dessert. We were so stuffed. His dad and mom are so good to us. They packed us up a doggy bag to take home.
After dinner, I painted my nails with his mom’s nail polish. She has OPI Infinite Shine Nail Polish. I love it. It lasts for a week! I only use it when I am over there. I sat at the table with everyone and painted my nails. It was a berry color for Fall, so pretty!
When we left his parents, we went to go see Annabelle.  We haven’t been to the movies in so long! When we arrived at the movies, we got a drink and Sour Patch Kids. We were too full for popcorn.
At the Cinemark, they have reserved seating, so you have to pick your seats, when you buy your tickets. It is so cool. Not all of the screens have it, but this one did. The seats are so plush and they recline. There is even a tray for you to put pop, and food on. I never will want to leave. I don’t know about you, but I can never seem to get compfy. I am too short for the movie chairs, but I enjoy going to the movies.
Annabelle was so good! I loved it. I haven’t been that scared at a movie in so long. I jumped a few times and was so scared. I am so ready for Halloween and Haunted houses. I love this time of year. When we got home, we got ready for bed. We were so tired and weren’t feeling all that well from eating so much, again!
