Worse

Sunday, I woke up increasingly worse. I was so congested and worse. I probably shouldn’t have gone to the wedding, but I did. I laid around all day, coughed, and blew my nose.

Monday, I still wasn’t 100% I e-mailed work in the morning and said I was going to take another sick day. I stayed on the couch and watched movies from the 2000’s Valentine and Josie and the Pussycats.

Leadership Conference Day 2

This morning I got up at 5:45am and got a shower and got ready for the second day of the conference. I also packed up. It was weird sleeping without Drew. I really am enjoying the time at Marietta and the conference, but I miss my husband. However, it was nice to get away for a bit.

IMG_1305 (1).jpegAfter I got dressed, I went down the hall to see if Sydney, Erica, and Dylan were awake or ready. Sydney answered the door half asleep. She said, it is 7am. I said, I know I just wanted to see who was awake and ready to head to breakfast. I am a morning person. I told them I will see them down at breakfast. I felt bad they weren’t ready. I  left their room and knocked on Jake and Zai’s door. Jake answered and said, morning. I said, morning! I told him that I just wanted to see if anyone was awake yet. He said, yup. I said, already I will see you at breakfast. I was beginning to think I was the only one. I took the elevator downstairs and it let me off at the lobby. I stepped out of the elevator. I looked down at my phone so I could text John. Then I looked up and saw him there. I approached him and said, “I was just about to text you. I thought I was the only one up and ready to go. I got some coffee and we went to see what they had for breakfast. It was typical hotel breakfast food.

Eventually everyone came down for breakfast, after we all ate we packed up the car. We were getting a little bit of a slow start to the day. We wanted to sit in on a couple sessions and eat lunch before we left.

When we arrived back on campus and to the conference, they were half way through the 9am sessions. We got coffee and waited for the 10am sessions to start. Sydney, Erica, and myself went to the presentation about how women can use certain strategies in Leadership to shift their impact in the workplace. It was pretty interesting. Then we went to the last presentation before lunch.

Lunch was stuffed peppers and flank steak it wasn’t as good as yesterday. After lunch, we made our way the car and started the journey back to Pittsburgh. The trip home went smooth and quick.

When we arrived back to Robert Morris University, we dropped everyone off and then we met up with Drew so he could meet John at the rental car place. I was glad to see Drew. We drove John back to campus and then Drew and I went home. We talked about the conference and the plans for the evening. Even though I was pretty tired, I still wanted to go over his parents.

When we got home, we brought my stuff in and hung out for a bit, then went to his parents for dinner. His dad made cauliflower crust pizza, and we snacked on chips and guacamole. for some reason, I was so hungry, and so tired. I had so much fun at the conference and can’t wait go back and explore Marietta!

Traveling Back to the States

Traveling Back to the States

This morning we got up early, got dressed, ate our last hotel breakfast in England, then back to the room to make sure we had everything packed up. I did not want to leave at all. This was the best trip ever! We had an 8-hour flight ahead of us back to the states. Once again, another layover in Philly. I was so bummed, so was Drew.
When we arrived at the airport, we got checked in and went through security, and decided to check out the shops in the airport. I was checking out Harrod’s. They had two stores one that was just clothes, and high-end designers. The other was their name and accessories.  I forgot to go to Harrod’s when we were in London, but it was nice to go there now, even though we were at the Airport. Drew realized he forgot his Fitbit in security, he went over and gave them his information, and said they would page him if they found it.
Then we checked out Harrod’s accessories in their brand. Drew bought me a super cute tote bag. He surprises me sometimes. We got coffee from Starbucks and picked up a London mug. It was from the Starbucks anywhere collection. Then it was time to head to our gate. It was soon time to board the flight. We got on the plane, got settled in our seats. As we circled the runway, I said goodbye to England. I was so upset. I had to hold it together though.

When the plan was in the air, the flight attendants eventually came around with the beverage cart. We ordered our drinks. I had two vodka tonics, and Drew had two whiskeys over ice. Dinner was yummy, it was a roast, potatoes, and veggies. It was hard to be sad about heading home when you had such good service.
At one point, I finished the last episode of the Miniaturist that was uploaded on to the televisions. I can’t believe what happened and how the guy died, but his wife will be just fine I know it! I was hoping to catch more episodes at home, our Firestick. I also wanted to check for GoggleBox, as well. I am already missing English television.

After the miniaturist, I watched I, Tonya.  It was pretty good, better than I thought it was going to be. I was surprised. Margot Robbie did a good job. I do feel a little bad for Tonya Harding, so crazy though! I do remember that controversy and what happened to Nancy Kerrigan. I was young, but it was a big story.  After the movie, I read some more of Hemingway. I couldn’t sleep. I was running on adrenaline.

When we arrived in Philly, it was 3:00pm. We were in desperate need of a beer. We were drained from our flight. Drew said, the first bar we find. We found this one bar, (I forget the name) everything is a touch screen. We took a seat, ordered our first American beer.  I chose a Summer Shandy. We ordered some cheese fries to hold us over until we got home. The fries were so salty and the beer made me feel so bloated. Ugh, I already miss the food and the beer over in England, it had no preservatives and just made fresh and so good.

After our beer, we made our way to the gate and waited to board the flight to Pittsburgh. I couldn’t believe it we were in the states. Once we landed in Pittsburgh, my mom met us at the baggage claim area. Once I saw her I gave her the biggest hug. I did miss my mom and I know she was glad we were home safe and sound. She helped us with our luggage and my dad pulled up the curb and gave us both a hug. He loaded up his car with our luggage. They had so many questions for us about our trip and wanted to hear all about it.

When we arrived at our house, we brought our stuff into the house and then we ordered pizza. They wanted to hear all about our trip. We gave them their gifts. We bought my mom a little plate with Harry and Megan’s picture on it from the Royal Wedding. We bought my dad a shirt with Union Jack on it. He requested one. We showed them the gifts we bought for ourselves and they were so happy we had such a good time.
After the pizza arrived, we sat down and told them more about our trip, but we were ready for bed. I couldn’t wait to just lay in our bed and go to sleep.

Drew Came Home

This morning I worked 9am-12pm, then went to my parents to hang out with the dogs, until Drew’s flight came in. He wasn’t due in until 6:30pm. What to do until then? I hung out on the couch with dogs, and took them outside often. I was laying on the couch with the dogs, when I got a phone call from RMU. It was the Academic Media center. He asked if I could come in Monday for an interview at 12:30pm. I agreed to the interview. I was so excited. I called Drew really quick and told him. He was so happy for me. It was my second chance to get this right.

I went home to Moon closer to 6pm. When I got back to Moon, he told me I could leave whenever I wanted he just landed. I hopped into his car, and drove to the airport. I was so excited to see him!

When I arrived to the arriving flights, it is always a mess. People lined up almost to the off ramp. I finally was able to scoot up enough and told him what type of car I was behind, when I saw him he looked so tan. He also wasn’t feeling good. Once he got in the car, we kissed. He was so out of it, but happy to be home. When we finally got back on the highway, we chatted here and there, but I could tell he wasn’t feeling well.

When we arrived to our house, we got inside, and got packed up to go to my parents’ to dog sit. We laid in bed together, and just relaxed for a moment. This wasn’t quite the homecoming I thought it was going to be, and I was a bit disappointed, but I really did feel bad that he didn’t feel well. I left to go to my parents, and he was going to meet over there in his car. I had a hair appointment in the morning, and he had a chiropractor appointment, so we needed two cars.

When I got back to my parents, I let the dogs out again and waited for Drew to come home. When he arrived to my parents, we ordered pizza and watched the Pens game. I was so happy to have him home.
