Friday: Paris and Louie

I did not sleep at all last night. I feel like I was awake for most of the night. I slept in my parent’s room with the dogs. Paris slept up by my chest in a ball, and Louie slept by my stomach on his side. I love how they snuggle.

My alarm went off at 5:00am. I got up turned off the alarm and took them outside to do their business. Then brought them back inside, locked the door. We went back to bed until 5:30am, then I got up and got a shower, dressed, and fed them breakfast. I took them out one more time before I left the house.

When I arrived at the bus stop, it was almost 6:30am. I was going to be so early, but I never know with them. I don’t know how long things will take, or if they will cooperate, but they did this morning. When I arrived in Oakland it was almost 7:15am. I stopped at Dunkin and got a coffee. I was so early.

When I arrived at my department, I opened up the place and put my lunch in the fridge. Then I sat down and browsed on Facebook, while I drank my coffee. Too early to start working. I started working around 8:00am. I got a lot done so far, and the day is still new. I feel bad I had to leave the dogs this morning. Louie watched me leave and gave me this look like I was the biggest asshole in the world. I am hoping to leave at 3:30pm today we will see. Drew is coming over after this evening to my parents to spend the evening with me and the dogs.

At the end of the day, I was able to leave work at 3:15pm. I was excited to be able to bug out a little earlier. When I got home, I took the dogs outside and they were so happy to have someone home! Then I took them upstairs and I got a shower and then tried to take a little nap, before Drew arrived. I slept for about 10 mins and then got up. I wanted to get the dogs fed, before Drew came home, and before we went to the Hop House for dinner.

When Drew arrived home, I was somewhat irritable. This period has to come soon. I am getting so anxious. I apologized for being so irritable. I am having all the symptoms it’s just no period.  What the hell! I can’t be pregnant. I don’t want to be pregnant right now. We got ready to leave the house.

When we arrived at the Hop House, there were a few people at the bar, and at the tables. Most people were outside. We thought about sitting outside, but for some reason, I thought it was kind of chilly. We took a seat the bar. We ordered our drinks. I was in the mood for a magic hat #9.  I was ready to get the weekend started. It has been a pretty easy week for the most part, but I do love my weekends.

Dinner was yummy. We split a soft pretzel for an appetizer, and for dinner, I had a chicken salad for dinner and Drew had a steak hoagie. This restaurant is our favorite little hole in the wall. We come here, only when we dog sit.

After we left, we went home and took the dogs for a little walk around the block, they did their business. Then we got them settled for the night. We watched Jersey Shore Family Vacation, then I went up to bed and the dogs followed. Drew stayed up for awhile and watched television. I was so tired. Tomorrow is another busy day!

Dog Sitting

This morning, I got up a little earlier than usual. I needed to get my car packed up. I got dressed, and packed up my car. What good is going over to your parents, if you can’t take your dirty laundry? I bagged up my dirty clothes in a garbage bag, and then packed up my duffle bag and my dress for Maci’s party on Saturday.

When we left the house, I met Drew at the bus stop and we drove to Crafton in my car, so we could take the bus together. Then, he would take the Moon bus home, and I would take the Crafton bus back to my parent’s. We had this all coordinated. When we arrived in Crafton, it was close to 7am. We missed the 28X as I was parking the car. He was like, “Oh man.”  I said, “We will be okay. We can get another bus and still be on time.” I don’t like the 28X anyway, even though it takes right to Oakland.

When we got on the Crafton bus, it was packed. The ride to downtown went pretty quick. I had my purse, umbrella, and two library books that I planned to return today at lunch. I was struggling to hold everything on my lap, as the bus was moving. This will be a lot easier on the way home.

When we arrived down town we got off the bus and walked to the bus stop to pick up a 61 or a 71. A 71 came by first, so we hopped onto that bus. When we arrived in Oakland, I got off at the stop where the Starbucks is on Fifth. I kissed Drew goodbye, and he went to his office in the cathedral. I needed coffee.

After I left Starbucks with a hot caramel macchiato in my hand, I was on my way to my office. I was running a little late, but I didn’t care. No one was going to know. I am on time most days and stay later than I have to on most days, and some times do not even take a full lunch hour, so it all comes out in the wash.

When I arrived to my office, I got started. There isn’t too much going on today. When Nancy came in we touched base regarding the drama in her friend’s circle. Wynn came down a little later in the morning, and asked me if I wanted to go the Greek Festival with them today. I was touched. I love when they include me. I said, I would love to. They take cards so I wouldn’t have to get cash. I haven’t been to the Greek festival yet. Drew said he went last year and it was so good. He wants me to bring him back a Gyro. I forgot a Gyro was Greek, that is what I will have. I don’t really know about anything else on the menu. I am weird about food.

When we arrived to the Greek Festival the line for the Gryos and hot food was up the sidewalk, past the church. I stood in line. Nancy, Wynn, and Lindsay went inside to get inline for food. I wanted a gyro and so did Drew, so I was determined to wait in line. There were a couple guys in line behind me, who were facilities people at Pitt. They were talking usual guy talk. I surfed my phone, texted Drew, and pretty soon I was next in line. It didn’t take too long. I got a freshly squeezed lemonade too. I can’t tell you the last time I had lemonade. I ordered two gyros and an order of Greek fries to go. My total was $28. I walked inside to meet up with the girls, and they were at a table, and had already finished eating. I sat down and opened one of the gyros and started to eat. They all thought I was crazy for waiting in the line.

On our way back from the festival, I stopped at the cathedral and dropped off the other gyro and the fries for Drew. The ladies made fun of me for bringing him his lunch. One of the women has been married twice and the other married for a few years with a daughter.  I didn’t care. Drew and I are newly married and I don’t do this all the time for him, and besides we were close any way to the cathedral.

When I left work it was 3:30pm, I stopped at the library and returned my two books. I browsed the shelves for a couple books to read this week and next. I wanted to read tonight at my parents. I picked up two historical fiction books. One about Charles Dickens, the other about Lord Byron’s illegitimate child. What I wanted was Hemingway’s movable feast about his time in Paris in the 1920s, but I couldn’t find it. I didn’t even think to ask my old professor if I could borrow his copy.

When I met up with Drew around 4:30pm, we took the bus out of Oakland together. He seemed moody and grumpy from the day. I was kind of glad I was going to my parents and spending the evening by myself with the dogs. I think with his attitude and how he is annoyed by the dogs, we would have wound up in an argument. Also, my period is 3 days late! I took a test yesterday morning and it said Negative and it was a definitive negative. I knew I wasn’t pregnant, but still this is annoying, just start already!

When we arrived down town, we kissed goodbye the G3 to take him to Moon was quick to arrive. Typically, I am the first one to get on the bus, when I have to go to Crafton. Shortly after his bus took off, a G2 arrived to take me to crafton. On the way home, I listened to music and stared out the window.

When I arrived in Crafton, I got off the bus and went to my car. I drove to Dollar General to get more pads. I didn’t want to be out of them. I was close to it from wearing a pad every day waiting for this period to arrive! After I left Dollar General, I went to Subway and got a foot long subway club on wheat with everything on it, but olives and jalapenos.

When I arrived to my parents, I set my subway bag and drink on the table outside and opened my parents’ back door. There were the dogs at the door. They ran outside on the porch to greet me. It was like unleash the hounds! I bent down to give them kisses and loves. I bet they are so confused. I let them run around in the grass and go to the bathroom, then I carried my food in and set it on the table. I got their food ready, and then set their dishes down. Louie loves to eat. Paris takes her time.

After dinner, I brought in my stuff, and took my dirty laundry downstairs. I put a load in, and then got a shower. After my shower, I ate half of my subway sandwich, then snuggled the dogs. I watched most of The Rage: Carrie 2, and Revolutionary Road.

One thing about the Rage, is that it was set in the 2000s. The turn of the millennium. I noticed all the fashion statements, and stereotypes from that time period. It is weird to think it was that long ago. I had existential moment.

Before I went to bed around 10pm, I let the dogs out one more time. Louie went, but Paris did not, then I locked up the house and went to bed.

Take Me to the Barre

Take Me to the Barre

After work today, I went to Barre class again. This was my second time. I was a bit bloated and hormonal. I am waiting for my monthly visitor to arrive, but they say exercise is best when you are PMSing. We changed it up a bit, but still did piles and some work up on our toes, but we added tondues as well.

Typically the right for your arms, when you are doing tondues to the back is keep your arms right arm straight out in front of you (if you are working your right foot).   Since I had previous ballet training, this is what I am accustomed to (hair flip). However, some people in the class haven’t had it, so she just says to keep your arm out to side, since it is easier for people. We had a little conversation on the side there about arm positions in ballet.
When it came time for the abdominal part, I think it went well. I did better than did last week. It is going to get easier. I did a plank for 10 seconds, a new record for me! I hate planking.  After class, I told her that I was planning on attending her barre class next Sunday at her friend’s dance studio. She was glad to hear it. We wished each other happy Easter, then I went home to my husband.
When I walked in, he was folding laundry. He had a long week at work, and I know he was ready for the week to be over.  He skipped out on the gym. I went up and got a shower, got dressed in sweats and a t-shirt, then we watched the Office until we went to bed.

First Week

My first week as a full-time employee of Pitt was awesome! Yes, it was a bit overwhelming with all the information, but my office is beautiful. It is so big, and I have so many shelves. I am just so happy. Today, I finally feel like I had a grip on what exactly they were talking about, but there is still so much to learn and a whole different vocabulary, as well. I need to add to my acronyms list.

Today, I met with Mel in the morning. She and I developed a list of things we need to do, orientation is one of the top priorities, and updating the binder, as well as creating them for the students. It is hard when the previous person isn’t here to train. I am trying not to get too overwhelmed, but it is difficult to pick up where someone left off, and not know really where they left off, or where anything is.

When it was time for lunch, Wynn and Nancy asked me if I wanted to go with them to get Chinese food. I was so happy, my first lunch date with the women from the office! I am fitting in so well here already. At lunch, I learned more about the people and the department. I am sure whatever we talk about at lunch, stays at lunch.

After lunch, we went back to the office. Nancy and I had no clue what we were doing, or what we needed to get done. I finally was able to finish this project I had been working on with Mel regarding student eval letters and OMETS. I had to upload them in the Box, and make sure everything on the box was on the Z drive. I have so much still to do, but Monday will be here soon enough.

Around 5pm, I sent the final update to Mel. Then, I got a phone call from Frank at the chapel, asking me where I was? I said, I am finishing up at work. He said, Oh okay, well how much longer do you think you will be? I said, Wendy is supposed to be there until I get there. He said, “Oh she much have forgot, because she left at 4pm.” I said, “Oh okay, I will be there in 10-15 mins. I have to shut down and walk over. He said, “okay great.” I hung up the phone and said, “really?” Nancy said, “Whats up babe?” I said, “Wendy is supposed to be there to cover and she left at 4pm. I mean I am sorry it’s not my problem. I am helping you out. I will get there when I get there.” I shut down my computer, pulled my office door shut, said Goodbye to Nancy, then walked to the chapel.

When I arrived at the chapel, Frank was lining up the wedding party to go down the aisle, I walked down the aisle and set my purse to the side, and he gave me my clipboard, and introduced me. I was still trying to catch my breath. The first Bride didn’t seem to happy with anything. She hardly smiled. They took forever to leave, as well.

The third bride wanted her party to be up at the altar with them, in a horse shoe type shape. It made it hard for Frank to gain control of the rehearsal. Everyone was up there talking, and carrying on. It just made it drag out. I was so annoyed and crampy. My period just started. I was ready to get out of there. I kept looking at Frank, and giving him looks like, get control of this so we can leave.
When we finally practiced the procession, it went down much smoother. she wanted to practice the recession twice. I told Frank, “Hey I got to go.” He said, “No problem go ahead, see you tomorrow at 12:15pm.” I thought to myself yeah yeah. In all my temping careers, I have never wanted to put an assignment behind me so quickly, as I do this one. I really can’t wait for this assignment to be over and I am so glad I got hired on full-time.

However, I loved the other half of my job, which was being a docent. I liked giving tours, and talking about the building, the windows, and the architecture more than people’s weddings.

When I got home, we ordered pizza and just relaxed. I had weddings tomorrow and I was not looking forward to it.
