Pitt Game & Superbowl

Andrew and I went to the Pitt vs. Miami Game. I thought there were a lot of people there. We are not used to sitting around so many people. Andrew and I had to be careful with our language there were children in front of us, and next to us. It was a close game. Thankfully Pitt won!

After the game, we went grocery shopping, then went home. After we unloaded the groceries, Andrew worked on his homework for class. I polished my nails, and then got changed.

We went over his parents for dinner. Tommy and Megan were there as well with Butters and Waffles. We celebrated Megan’s birthday, and watched the Superbowl.

Oh, yes of course the Superbowl. I wasn’t into it at all this year. It is weird not seeing Tom Brady and company. The half time show was alright. Jlo and Shakira did well, but it was missing something for me. I don’t know Superbowl halftime shows used to be so much better and worth the anticipation.

While we were watching the game, I received an e-mail from Gina. She canceled class due to pneumonia. I felt so bad for her, but I was glad I didn’t have to present tomorrow. We have to turn in our updated problem statements, 1 page summary, and an annotated bibliography of 3 sources next Monday. I will be busy next weekend. 🙂  I did send her a clarifying e-mail to make sure I understand how to do the summary correctly.

After the half time performance, we got ready to leave and head home. Tomorrow is Monday.

Pool Weekend

We spent Saturday and Sunday at the pool.

Saturday, after the pool, we went to his parents’ house. We were celebrating Andrew’s birthday with our families. We got showered and changed at his parents. I packed up all my stuff. The plan originally was after dinner to go to the Helicon brewery, but we decided against it. Andrew and I were worn out from the pool and were ready to head home.

Sunday, when we woke up, we got ready to head to the pool. I was more relaxed than yesterday. On Friday, I turned in my last writing assignment for my summer class. Now I just had one short reading to do, a discussion post, and responses by Friday at 12pm. After those last items, I will be done with my summer class. I am anxious to see my grades. This instructor is different.  I think he will post grades all at once. I have only seen one grade so far and it was a 10/10 on my first writing assignment.

After the pool, Andrew dropped me off at home, so I could get a shower and get some housework done. Then he went grocery shopping for dinner tonight, and for the week ahead. After I got out of the shower, I put some laundry away, changed our bedsheets, threw some clothes in the washer, and when Drew got home, I helped him put away groceries. He was cooking out on the grill tonight. I love when he grills.

After dinner, we started watching John Wick 3: Parabellum. We will probably finish it tomorrow. So far it is so good!

Nancy is on vacation this week. It will be a long slow week. Also, I am still waiting to hear the results of a possible opportunity. I hope this week is the week that I will hear something.

Baby Charlotte

After work today, Drew and I went to meet his cousin Stephanie at his Grandma’s. Stephanie was bringing Charlotte down, so grandma could meet her. I am so glad that Grandma got to meet a great grand child. She looks so happy holding Charlotte. 🙂

Charlotte is so alert and so tiny. She didn’t mind everyone holding her which was nice too. My mom stopped by too meet Charlotte. I know my mom is so excited for grandchildren. One day, I promise, but I am just not ready now. I think she understands, but sometimes I feel like I am ready when I hold other people’s children. 🙂

Charlotte is so sweet and adorable. I can’t wait to see her again.

Commitments

This morning, I had a such a rough night last night, but I needed to get to RMU for the transfer student event. My ear didn’t hurt as bad. The antibiotic was working. I didn’t tell John and Maureen that I was sick. I wanted to follow through with this event. The transfer students are important to me. I was one of them.

When I arrived to RMU, I parked outside student life, and went to Romo’s and got a bagel and some hot tea. I got back in the car and drove to Wheatley Center. I ate my bagel on the way. I got out of my car and pulled the suitcase of my trunk, that contained handouts and take-a-aways from the Office of Student Leadership and Activities Department. I shut the trunk door and walked into the Wheatley Center.

So the Wheatley Center, just opened at the end of my last semester at RMU. I never really spent time there. When you first enter, there is this giant area with an open welcoming space. There were tables set up for different departments on campus. I set up next to the UPMC my health network, there was so much irony in this. I put the handouts on the table and made it look pretty. I took a picture and sent it to Maureen. She thanked me for being there today.

Throughout the event, I kept blowing my nose, and drinking water. Next to me, was Residence Life. Anna a girl from my Master’s program was at the table. She and I talked for a bit. Anna, Diana, and myself just finished a group project together and we got an A on the presentation, an A- on the paper, and an overall A in the class. We talked about our grade and Max’s comments. I was proud of our group.

Ugh I hate being sick. The nurse at the table next to me on my right said that I should go to Walmart, and show my ID at the pharmacy and ask for Sudafed. It is the behind the counter stuff, so it is pretty powerful. I took her up on her suggestion.

After the event was over, it was around 11:30am. I got the table packed up and put all the handouts in my suitcase and I was the first one out the door. I drove to Walmart and picked up the Sudafed and a few other things. I felt well enough to perhaps go to the wedding reception that evening for Ashley and Andrew.

When I got home, I rested for awhile and then we got ready to go to the reception. Now I probably shouldn’t have went, but I was feeling like I could make it. I put on a brown dress with some beige pink heels.

When we got to the Marriott, we walked inside and started talking to some of Drew’s cousins. It was good to see them. We only seem to see them at events like weddings, funerals, bridal showers, and baby showers.

Finally the ballroom was open and we could go inside, the photographer took a picture of Drew and I in front of a board that had the seating chart listed. We were at table 3. We were at the same table as his cousins, his brother, and sister-in-law. We haven’t seen them since Christmas Day. It was good to hear how Waffles is doing now that he is home safe.

There was an antipasto station, and an iced tea, and sangria station. Dinner was served around 7pm. They had chicken, ravioli, salad, sliced meat, vegetables. Dinner was so good. Dancing started around 8:30pm or 9pm. I danced with the bride to the Cupid Shuffle, and then Drew and I danced together. I also danced with Aunt Paula. I was doing so well. I thought I was getting better.

We left around 10pm or 11pm and went to my inlaws where Tommy and Megan were staying the night. I wanted to see Waffles. I was so happy to see him. I almost teared up. Waffles went missing a month or two ago in Erie. He was found 3 days later and has been home since. Those three days were so rough on Drew and I. When I saw Waffles, I hugged him and kissed his nose. I let him knock me down and tackle me. I have to admit I was fighting back tears. I also made sure to show Butters some love, but he just wants you to throw the ball.
IMG_1433.jpeg I cropped myself out of this picture, because it was a terrible picture of me, but there he is Waffles!

Leadership Conference Day 2

This morning I got up at 5:45am and got a shower and got ready for the second day of the conference. I also packed up. It was weird sleeping without Drew. I really am enjoying the time at Marietta and the conference, but I miss my husband. However, it was nice to get away for a bit.

IMG_1305 (1).jpegAfter I got dressed, I went down the hall to see if Sydney, Erica, and Dylan were awake or ready. Sydney answered the door half asleep. She said, it is 7am. I said, I know I just wanted to see who was awake and ready to head to breakfast. I am a morning person. I told them I will see them down at breakfast. I felt bad they weren’t ready. I  left their room and knocked on Jake and Zai’s door. Jake answered and said, morning. I said, morning! I told him that I just wanted to see if anyone was awake yet. He said, yup. I said, already I will see you at breakfast. I was beginning to think I was the only one. I took the elevator downstairs and it let me off at the lobby. I stepped out of the elevator. I looked down at my phone so I could text John. Then I looked up and saw him there. I approached him and said, “I was just about to text you. I thought I was the only one up and ready to go. I got some coffee and we went to see what they had for breakfast. It was typical hotel breakfast food.

Eventually everyone came down for breakfast, after we all ate we packed up the car. We were getting a little bit of a slow start to the day. We wanted to sit in on a couple sessions and eat lunch before we left.

When we arrived back on campus and to the conference, they were half way through the 9am sessions. We got coffee and waited for the 10am sessions to start. Sydney, Erica, and myself went to the presentation about how women can use certain strategies in Leadership to shift their impact in the workplace. It was pretty interesting. Then we went to the last presentation before lunch.

Lunch was stuffed peppers and flank steak it wasn’t as good as yesterday. After lunch, we made our way the car and started the journey back to Pittsburgh. The trip home went smooth and quick.

When we arrived back to Robert Morris University, we dropped everyone off and then we met up with Drew so he could meet John at the rental car place. I was glad to see Drew. We drove John back to campus and then Drew and I went home. We talked about the conference and the plans for the evening. Even though I was pretty tired, I still wanted to go over his parents.

When we got home, we brought my stuff in and hung out for a bit, then went to his parents for dinner. His dad made cauliflower crust pizza, and we snacked on chips and guacamole. for some reason, I was so hungry, and so tired. I had so much fun at the conference and can’t wait go back and explore Marietta!

Dinner and Corgis

This morning I had a nail appt at Sun Rays. I was getting my acrylic nails back on. I can’t take it anymore. My friend Leanne who does nails has been my nail tech off and on for years. She does everything by hand(no drills, only file).
We went for an ombré look.  I like It for the most part. I am not too crazy about it. I would rather have something more simple and plan, but it is worth a shot.

After my nail appt, I went to lunch at Hanlon’s with my parents, then it was home to get ready to go to my in-laws for dinner and the Pitt game. My in-laws were babysitting Waffles and Butters, their fur grandchildren, who are also our nephews. We couldn’t pass up a chance to get some corgi loving in!
cN+xeWVSQQKhVWlA2xnZdQWaffles (in the featured image) is so affectionate and sweet. Butters (pictured to the left) is the athlete. All he wants you to do is throw the tennis ball. I was holding the tennis ball in one hand and taking the picture with the other hand.

Andrew and I had an awesome dinner. His dad made us a steak, sweet potatoes, broccoli, and green beans. We always eat so well.

After dinner, we watched the Pitt game. They lost unfortunately, and so did RMU.

We are going to hang out here a little longer, and spend time with our sweet nephews!
