Robert Morris University Student Activities Fair

This morning, I woke up around 8:30am. I got a shower and got dressed in “Colonial Casual.” I was helping out at the Student Activites Fair. I was going to work alongside the Assistant Dean of Students and help out at the Student Life table. I was so excited to work with her. I helped her gather somethings from her office, and we went up to Hopwood Hall.

We hung out at the table and waited for prospective students and their families to stop by on their way to the talk that John Locke (my internship supervisor, previous professor, and friend) was giving.

As students and their families came by our table, we answered their questions about Student Life at RMU. There were things I couldn’t answer because I was a commuter and transfer student. I didn’t take advantage of Student Life.

At one point, the assistant dean of students left to go check on the other events that were happening in the Hale Center. I took a seat on the window ledge and posted my pictures on social media. A man left the auditorium and walked to the water fountain and approached the seating area where I was. He asked me if I was a junior or senior? I smiled and said, “thank you, but I am actually a graduate intern. However, I did attend RMU for my bachelor’s. He took a seat on a chair. He said, “Oh okay, what did you study?” I said, “English Studies, literature, and etc.” He said, “Oh okay, How did you like it here?” I smiled and said, “I loved it, but I was a transfer and commuter student, so I didn’t take full advantage of the opportunities that RMU had to offer. I would say like my last year here I was finally getting into the groove of things. I made friendships, and developed a routine of arriving at campus early, and not leaving until like evening time, but then before you know it, you graduate, and it’s over. He smiled, and asked, “Where did you commute from?” I said, “Crafton. my family lives there still.” He said, “Oh we are from Crafton.” he told me his street name. I had friends who lived on that street. I smiled and nodded. I told him where about my parents live and he nodded. I smiled.

At one point in the conversation, he made it a point to tell me that he was there with his ex-wife and his son. It seemed like he was gauging my interest. He then said, “Alright, well I better get back in there.” I smiled and said, “Nice talking to you.” He said, “Yes, you too.” I stopped and thought for a moment did I just get hit on or was he being nice? Around 12pm, I helped break down the table and pack up the flyers and helped her carry things back to her office. I stopped into John’s office on my way out to see if he needed anything he was talking to Scott, my old boss at RMU, who used to run the Phonathon department.

Throughout the conversation, Scott remembered he wouldn’t be able to take the students to the Carnegie Museum on Saturday. I asked if he wanted me to do it? He said, “You would?” I said, “yea, what time are you thinking I am supposed to go to the KISS concert with my dad that night?” He said, “You are going to the KISS concert?” I laughed. He said, I will confirm with you, but if you could that be awesome. John interjected, “Yea, she can do that.”

When I left RMU, I went and got my nails done. I had plans to get them done next Saturday in preparation for McDonough, but if I am taking the students to the museum, then I am not going to be able to get them done. I drove to Bella Nails and was able to get right in and out.

Then I went to the Mall. I needed jeans. I went to American Eagle and bought two pair of Size 12 jeggings! I was so happy I fit into a size 12!

After the mall, I went home and Drew was unpacking groceries. I helped him put them away and then I started dinner. I was so hungry.

After dinner, I took a nap and then watched this movie called The Dirt on Netflix. It is about Motley Crue. It was good, a bit cheesy, but good. I could never live the rock star lifestyle. I would get so tired of it.

Andrew’s Birthday Pt.2

This morning, I had a nail appt with my mom at Bella’s nails in Crafton. I met my mom at my parents’ house so I can see my doggies. I got to see them for a bit, then it was out the door to Bella’s. I drove my car to the nail salon. We stopped to get coffee on the way. Once we got to Bella’s, I signed in and told them that I was here for Ana. I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a full set or just a little bit of tip with the acrylic dip. I wasn’t sure. I needed to talk to Ana. I knew she was running late, but I didn’t want anyone else to do my nails, but Ana.
When Ana arrived, she asked if I could come outside for a second? I walked outside, and she said, “I am sorry, but I have an 11:30am. Do you mind if someone else does your nails? I feel terrible.” I said, “yes, that is okay.” she said, “I will still do mom’s, but what exactly do you want done to your nails?” I said, “Well I know I want the dip, but I think I want a little tip on the end for some length, but not too long.” She said, “Okay.” She walked in and explained to the man who was doing my nails what I wanted.  I was so nervous it was hard for me to relax. Well, they turned out great! Now I am trying to get used to life with nails again.  I thought Drew was going to kill me. He likes my natural nails.

After the nail salon, my mom and I met my dad at Hanlon’s for breakfast, in Crafton/Ingram Shopping Center. I love that place. I didn’t like it when it first opened up. I missed what it used to be, Andrea’s. The food tasted so good at Andrea’s. I was excited to see my dad.
At breakfast, we talked about work, and my upcoming semester of grad school, and etc. We talked about the concert, and how the lead singers aged and sounded a little different than what they used to sound like. My dad said, well that happens. The 90s were a long time ago. It just doesn’t feel that long ago.

After breakfast, I drove my mom home, and then I went home myself. I  had some birthday things to do with Drew tonight. When I got home, I kissed Drew and tried to hide my hands. I didn’t want him to see my nails, not just yet. I knew he would notice them soon enough, but I wanted to wait as long as I could. I cleaned up the kitchen a bit, and then we went to Best Buy. Drew wanted to get the Fitbit Versa for his Birthday gift.

On our way to Best Buy, I had to stop and get him a birthday card. This is so unorthodox. The element of Birthday surprises is gone when you get married and if you chose to have a joint checking account, well then there goes the surprise for certain. We also got candy to sneak into my purse at the movies. When we arrived at Best Buy, it is like a gadget lovers paradise. Everything looks so bright and shiny in that store. We went to the FitBit area, and there was the Versa, now the Fitbit is much better for tracking activity, then the iwatch I will say. I do miss my Fitbit sometimes, but my iwatch is more of a smartwatch, then a fitness tracker. The iwatch still tracks my fitness, but it is not as good as the Fitbit. Drew picked the special edition version of the Versa. The band was more of a nicer mesh material, instead of a rubbery feel. I told him he never treats himself. He should get what he wanted.
After Best Buy, we went home and talked about going to see hotel Transylvania 3. I made dinner and Drew ordered tickets. We were all set for the 8:50pm showing. I was so excited for this movie.  I was hoping it would be good. Drew set up his Fitbit. He looks so happy!
After dinner, we got ready to go to the movies. I couldn’t wait to see this movie. I was just hoping it was going to be good. Once inside, we promised to try to see this movie without popcorn, since we just had dinner, and smuggled in candy. We were sitting in our seats at the theater and we couldn’t take it anymore. I went into the lobby and bought popcorn. I brought down. I only got a medium though, with butter in the middle, and no butter on top. However, I do love a ton of butter, but we need to cut back and be healthier.
When the previews, started they showed the preview for the new Winnie the Pooh movie, that I can’t wait to see. I think Anthony and I are going to go see it. I know I will cry my eyes out. Goosebumps 2 was coming out. I loved those books as a child, I will probably drag Drew to see it with me when it comes out. It looks so good.

Spring Break Week

This week was so quiet. There was hardly anyone on campus. The students were gone and the staff was able to catch a bit of break. I was able to finish writing my paper. All I have to do now is get someone to read it over for organization and preferably punctuation. It is my first big paper of Grad school. I want to do well on it. I will be so satisfied with a “B.” I was able to complete my homework for next Monday as well. I wanted to be so a head of the game, so I could relax, and maybe elaborate more on certain points in my paper.

On Thursday, we were able to leave at 3pm. I locked up the office and went to the Cathedral to get the keys off of Drew.  We drove in today, and I just wanted to go home early! Drew gave his keys and I was on my way home. It was an easy drive home, hardly any traffic at this time of the day.

When I got home, I got ready to go to the gym. We were going to go to the gym, when he came home. I drove to the bus stop to pick him up. When he got in the car, we decided that we just wanted to stay home tonight.

On the way home, we stopped at Giant Eagle and picked up some beer, snack food, and breakfast for tomorrow. We were ready to just chill for the evening. At Giant Eagle, we ran into Iceberg. He was there to promote curbside express. We got our picture with him. Iceberg is the mascot for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

When we got home, we ordered pizza and watched more episodes of the Office. Leanne and I were texting back. She has been my friend, nail tech, and therapist for years.  She told her me her husband’s dad has stage 4 lung cancer. I felt so bad for her. I told her if there is anything she needs just to let us know. I did end up making a 11:30am nail appointment tomorrow. I need my nails done, and It would be good to see her. Life is so precious.

My 29th Birthday and Our One-Year Anniversary

Today, I had a nail appointment and I didn’t have to work today, either. Drew went to the gym, while I was getting my nails done, and then he was going to go grocery shopping. While, he was out I beat him back home after my nails, and I put on some Halloween music, and started to scrape out the Pumpkins so we could carve them. I was happy to scrape them out, I poured some wine, and waited for my husband to come home. When he came home, he brought home flowers. I love getting flowers. I used to get them all the time, so when I do it is amazing!

After we carved our pumpkins, we made dinner, and he gave me my birthday gifts, and I gave him his anniversary letter, and he wrote one for me too. We cut the top layer of cake. It was so nice, and drank our champagne that we had in our room on our wedding night. The cake was better than the champagne. It was romantic and sweet. Our cake was so yummy! It was a great birthday and a great one-year anniversary.

Tommy and Megan’s Wedding

Today, I had a nail appointment at 10:30am. I went to Dunkin and grabbed Donuts and coffee for Leanne and I. She did my nails and my toes. I love hanging out with her.

After my nail appointment,  I stopped home for a bit, my mom made me a sandwich, and then I went home. I got dressed and Andrew’s parents picked me up, and took me to the hotel to see Tommy and Drew; his dad was going to get ready with the guys as well. Once we got to the hotel, the Pitt game was on and Drew was getting dressed in his tux. He looked so good. He put his hands on my hips as I pinned on his corsage, he said, “I know a bubsy that is going to be having my baby tonight.” I just laughed. He does look so damn good in a suit.
After they got ready, his mom and I went down to see Megan. Megan was getting her make up done, when we walked in, and Butters was there. I was so glad to see him. He gave me kisses and let me hold him. I took Butters to see Tommy. They hadn’t seen each other since Wednesday.

When I was on my way to take Butters outside, the florist was at the bottom of the elevator. He asked if I could take them up to the bride and groom. I said, Yes I can do that. I took the flowers back up to the room and told Butters that we would go out after I delivered these. He couldn’t wait the poor thing, just peed in the hallway of the hotel. I felt bad for him.

After the first look, we went to E2 where the ceremony was going to be held. I stood next Drew and we all gathered around. Drew and I both did the readings.  He read a little reading on “Union.” Butters stole the show.
