Dinner with In-Laws

This evening, we went to the Cafe in Aliquippa. We were going to meet Drew’s parents there. We haven’t been there in forever. I stuck to my keto diet had a hamburger with no bun and a side of coleslaw. I had a couple drinks with my mother-in-law, crown, and soda waters.

At dinner, we talked about all that has been happening in our lives and in their lives. We hadn’t been out to eat together in a long time. She asked about my diet and I told her it is going so well. I really feel better eating this way. She was glad to hear it. We talked about my birthday plants, and dinner at my parents, as well as their vacation to Cape Cod. I am glad I got to see them.

When Drew and I got home, I had another crown and soda, then it was off to bed for this girl.

Nails & Mother-in-Law’s Birthday

This morning, I got up at 10am, got a shower, and had some coffee. I made us pancakes for breakfast, and I watched some episodes of Reign. I am almost finished with Season 4. I will miss this show. Drew got ready to go to the gym, and I got ready to go to my parents in Crafton.
When I arrived at my parents, I noticed there was an unfamiliar car parked next to my dad. I wondered who is here, and they didn’t tell me that anyone was coming. When I walked inside my parent’s house, my dogs greeted me at the door. I bent down to pet them. I walked past them and into the living room. I was curious to see who was there.
When I entered the living room, I looked over to the couch and saw my cousin Bing. I thought oh great, he is going to sing, or he has already sung. It is coming. I kissed my parents, and then sat down on the floor and listened to the older generation talk. This is pretty much my life. I was an only child, so I heard lots of adult talk and Bing didn’t really seem too interested in talking to me, just parents, so I picked up one of my dogs and just snuggled one of them on my lap.
All of a sudden, Bing burst out into song. I looked down at Louie, my dog, who was laying in my lap. His head was turning to the side, and wondering what is all that noise. I tried to keep from laughing. I knew it was only a matter of time. I texted Drew. I said, Bing is here, and he is singing. Drew said, Of course. I had to hold back some laughter. Now you may think I am mean, but it is like the Johnny Angel and the Halos type music. If you aren’t from Pittsburgh and don’t know who Johnny Angel and the Halos are, then think of it as old jazz music, or like “old-timey” 50s music. Not something that I listen to really.
Around 15 mins to 2pm, I kissed my parents and my dog’s goodbye. I had a nail appointment to attend. I drove to the nail salon, and Leanne packed up her nail stuff so we could go to her house. She had enough of the salon and was getting annoyed with the people there. On the way to Leanne’s, my car notified me that there was low tire pressure in the front right wheel.
When we arrived at Leanne and Dan’s, we went inside and she got to work on my nails. Dan came home with Maci, who I was so happy to see! She gave a hug and a kiss. I love her. Dan is a mechanic and has done work for us before on my old car. He put air in my tire and told me that after I drive it, the sensor should go off and I should be good. He handed me a beer, a miller 64. I couldn’t turn it down.

After my nails were done, I drove home to Moon. I had to meet Drew at the house, we were going to get in his car and go to Beaver Valley Mall, so the jeweler could look at my grandma’s ring. It is too small and is going to need more platinum added to it. The ring is starting to get thin. it is 81 years old. I love it! I feel so honored to have it. I wear it pretty much every day.

On my way to Moon, the tire pressure notification was still on and I was really losing air rapidly. When I got home, I kissed Drew, changed, and then we were out the door. We decided last minute to take my car to NTB. We took separate cars. He drove mine and I drove his car.

We took his car to the mall, to look at the luggage for our trip. We needed one more suitcase, he and I both. We needed a bigger one. We found a 30″ at JCPenney’s and it was on sale. We both got one, and then we got the call from NTB. They said I had a small hole the size of a pin. They were able to patch it up until I would need a new tire. I was happy it was fixable, that costs $30.00.
After the mall, we drove to NTB, since they were going to close at 7pm. We picked up my car and took it back home. We then got in his car and went to the store to get a card and a gift card. We were going to meet his parents and his brother at the cafe, in Aliquippa. Well when we arrived, it turns out that Tommy wasn’t there only his mom and dad, which was okay. We talked about everything vegetarianism, LGBT, my ring, my parents, our England trip, their Arizona trip, grandma and we gave them their birthday cards. Andrew’s dad’s birthday was last month. I had grilled cheese with tomato and fries for dinner, and Drew had a burger.
After dinner, they picked up something to take home to Tommy. They kissed us goodbye and then they left. I was tired and ready to go home. I had enough for the day. I really did. I was over it. I got my corrections from my tutor via e-mail. Tomorrow is going to be a long day of homework.

Good Friday

Today, I had plans to go to church with my boss. We thought there was going to be mass or something for Good Friday. Well when we arrived at the church, it was just a prayer service about the last words Jesus spoke before he died, no mass. At one point, I got the attention of the usher, and whispered, “is there a mass today?” He said, “yes, at 1:30pm.
I said, “oh okay, thank you.” I turned to Phyllis and said, “no mass until 1:30pm.” She said, “Oh alright, let’s stay for a little then go. There was one last year!”
When we left, we walked back to our building. When I arrived back to the department, I told Nancy that there wasn’t a mass it was just a prayer service. She said, “yeah he has to die first.” Then it dawned me, did I not learn anything from years of Catholic school. He has to die first before there can be a remembrance or even a mass!
After work, we went to the cafe with Drew’s parents I had a fish sandwich and fries. I regaled them with my story and they all laughed.  Oh well, we tried and attempted there is an A for effort there. I am so happy it is the weekend.

St. Patrick’s Day Eve

After work today, we went home and I changed. We had dinner plans with Andrew’s parents, brother, and sister-in-law. They were in town for a hiking and outdoorsy event. We were supposed to hang out tomorrow with his parents, but I guess we are going tonight instead. I just don’t want to hang out all weekend with his parents. We have such a busy day tomorrow anyway.
When we arrived at the cafe, they were just pulling in, we said our “hellos” and gave each other hugs. Then we went inside and got a table. When we sat down, we ordered our beers, and eventually, I had my green beer! We talked about their plans to go to this hiking event. Megan, my sister-in-law was describing it to me, and I said, “oh good times.” she said, “Yea actually it will be. it is a great ab work out.” I am nodded and said, “I bet.” They are so outdoorsy and so active. I forget the name of the walk, but you carry rocks in your book bag, and the weight can be whatever you choose it to be, and it will force you to keep your abs locked in and pulled tight as you walk this trail. Ugh, sounds like torture.
Oh, we also talked about Megan’s program, and how tired she is. She doesn’t get to work out as much anymore, and how much she owes in debt. Andrew and I had to volunteer information about our lives, and upcoming plans. We don’t get asked too much about our plans, events, and current things happening in our life when they are around. It ‘s kind of sad, but whatever. I just hate how we have to make a fuss over them and what all they are doing, so I just let it roll really. They are different people.
At dinner, Andrew’s mom asked if we were still coming here tomorrow? I said, “No, we are here tonight.” She said, “Oh, okay. I thought you were still coming here tomorrow for the party.” I said, “No, probably not, since we are here now.” I don’t want to hang out with parents all week and I have things to do really. She said, “Well we can drive like we drove Tommy and Megan tonight? So you two can drink and have a good time.” I said, “Oh okay, well we will touch base tomorrow.” Drew doesn’t really say too much. He leaves it up to me, really.  When we got home, I got ready and went to bed. I was so tired and I had an early day tomorrow.

Saturday: Hair Appointment

This morning I woke up around 8:00am. I got a shower, and got ready to leave the house for my hair appointment. I was running a bit behind, so I just drove straight to the hair salon. I wanted to stop and see my parents, and my dogs. My mom was out to lunch, so I figured I would just stop over after my hair appointment and kill some time before I had to go to Pitt to work on my group project.
When I arrived at my hair appointment, my hair tech was still busy working on her client before me, so I talked to Leanne and Maci. Leanne was coming down with a cold, so I didn’t want to get too near her. I didn’t kiss Maci either. I wasn’t sure if she was going to catch what her mom had, or not. I am over being sick.
When it was time for me to sit in the chair, I explained to her how I wanted heavy highlights and a little low lights, but mostly highlights. She said, she can do that. I told her I wanted to go lighter again. I do like the dark root, but I am ready for a brighter blonde look again.
While I was under the dryer, I sent Drew a picture of me with the foils in my hair. He said, I looked good. He is so cute. When she washed my hair out, and took out the foils. I was excited to see it styled and dry. She did trim my layers, but didn’t take anything off the length.
When she styled it and dried it, I was in love. I was already lighter, then I thought I would be. The dimensional blonde looks awesome! I hope people notice it at work. When I left the salon, I stopped at my parents for a half an hour.
When I walked into my parents, the dogs came running. I love seeing them. They jump up on their hind legs and try to kiss me and climb on me.  I have missed them so much. I sat with them and visited with my dad for a little. Then I had to leave to go to Pitt’s campus to work on our group project.
When I arrived on campus, I parked under the building I work in, Posvar. My group and I were meeting in that building, and going to work on our project and hopefully finish it today. I was ready to put this one behind me. We ended up going to the classroom, that is right outside my department. We wrote up our script for our narrated presentation via power point. We also were able to get it all finished that day. It is not quite exactly 10-mins, but if we were to add anymore it would also be stupid, so I think it should be quality over quantity, but we all agreed it is good enough and we were ready to go by 5pm.
When I got home, I was so glad to see Drew. We relaxed and hung out for a bit, then we went to dinner with his parents. We were going to meet them at the Cafe. I was excited for it at the time, but when we arrived there, I wasn’t feeling it for some reason. I was still blowing my nose at dinner, and I had a coughing fit and had to go to the bathroom for minute. It was not fun for me at all. I really just wanted to go home after that.
After we ate dinner, Drew finished his beer, then we were on our way home. He said, that he felt the same way. We both had wings and fries and kind of regret it now. It didn’t taste as good as we thought it would. We were ready just to go home.

Summer Course Meeting & Goofy Golfing

Summer Course Meeting & Goofy Golfing

This morning, we had the summer course schedulers meeting. I was still trying to consume some caffeine. During the meeting, we figured out who is going to teach what, and what classes we are going to offer. It was the easiest meeting thus far!
After the meeting ended, the work day seemed like it took forever to end. When I met up with Drew to catch the bus, he seemed a little tired. I wasn’t sure if we should go Haunted Mini Golf or not. Yesterday, he had that big Demo and it really took a lot out of him. I know he was stressed about it and he was working so hard.

When we got back to Moon, we hung out for a bit, then got ready to go to Hopewell. We go Haunted Mini Golfing at the Windmill every year. Each year, I get my annual Michael Myers picture. All the horror movie figures are hand painted onto the fence that surrounds the mini golf grounds. Well this year, they must have put Michael together unevenly he as lopsided, but I still got my Michael picture.

When we were on the last 6 holes, they finally turned on the spooky music, and a guy with a chainsaw was walking around revving up the chainsaw. Drew and I joked that times must be tough here at the Windmill this year. In the past, we would tie this event in with an Aliquippa weekend. I would drive down, and then we would go mini golfing, then to the Cafe with his parents for dinner, then go back and spend the night at this parents house. This year it is a little different, we are still meeting his parents for dinner at the Cafe, but they don’t life in Alquippa anymore.

After goofy golfing, (Andrew won by 2) we must up with his parents at the Cafe. I had a pretty busy week, so I was going to treat myself to a couple pumpkin beers with the brown sugar rim on the glass. I knew Andrew had a rough week, but he had to drive.  We always have a good time there at the cafe. I talked to the owner for a bit about my birthday party. He said, he would reserve a table for me that night and that we would be taken care of. When we got home, I was a bit woozy from the beer and couldn’t wait to go to bed.

This morning I had a dentist appointment, and I was so glad that I got to sleep in a little bit longer. The past couple of nights I have been sleeping with my Fitbit on and setting the silent alarm. It will vibrate until I wake up. I love it. I like it so much better than the alarm on my phone. I think it is a nicer way to wake up, instead of just a crazy alarm sound.

After I got a shower and got dressed. I packed up my stuff and grabbed some pizza out of the fridge. I was a little apprehensive about my Dentist appointment this morning, and then having to go to work after. I was hoping maybe the day would fly by. When I left the house, I called my mom and talked to her for a bit.

When I arrived at the Dentist, I was 10 mins early. I put on a little make up, once I parked the car, then I walked inside. After about 5 mins, they called me back. I sat in the chair, and she put a bib on me. Then I told her about my enamel and how it chipped a little. It is somewhat noticeable and perhaps they could put some bonding on, like my other dentist used to do. He would do without question. She said, that I would have to make another appointment for that. I miss the old dentist so much. He never submitted it, he just did it. I guess we were like family to him.

After my cleaning, the Dentist came in and he checked my mouth and told me that everything looks good and that he could put some bonding in there during my next appointment. He also wanted me to schedule a consult for MTM to see if I am a candidate for that. MTM is a cheaper solution to 6-month smiles. I thought about 6-month smiles, but it is so much money, and I just feel like braces are not an option for me. My teeth are somewhat straight. I just have a little crowding in the front on the bottom. I think this Dentist wishes I could lay a golden egg for him.

After my appointment, I went to Peace Love and Little Donuts. I bought 3 donuts; Flintstones, chocolate chip one, and a razzle-dazzle. I knew Drew would probably want the Chocolate Chip one, but he wanted the Pitt Panther. I guess the only Pitt Panther they knew about was a cake donut with blue and gold sprinkles. I thought it was something to do with chocolate, so I knew Drew probably wouldn’t want it (I ended up getting the wrong one. He wanted the sprinkles, which was surprising.) I also purchased a caramel latte with fat-free milk. I haven’t had my coffee yet.

Once I got to the bus stop in Robinson, I ate my razzle-dazzle donut and then asked Drew when the next bus was coming, because the app never works for me. He says that one just drove by while I was on my way, and it might be better to drive in, so I went back to the car and got gas in Greentree. He said, if we are on the way home and get stuck in traffic, it might be cutting it pretty close on only a quarter tank. I texted Phyllis and told her I was driving in.
After I got on the parkway, I was bumper to bumper before the tunnels, but smooth sailing to Oakland. I parked in Sennott Square and then walked into my building. Drew was going to come to my building to get the donut that I got for him at lunchtime. Phyllis saw my box of donuts and I asked if she wanted one. She said, “Yea who wouldn’t pass up donuts?!” I said, “True.” I grabbed the box and showed her the two that I had in there. She picked the chocolate one. I knew it!

When I got back to my office, I told Drew. He said, he was okay it didn’t matter. I said I figured since she let me go to the appointment and I was kind of late getting back here. He understood. I am glad he is so chill. When he came by, I gave him the donut and then we talked for a bit. I introduced him to Linda. It was nice.

When he left, I was hoping the day would fly by. I heated up my pizza and ate it, now I am not sure what is going on. I am ready for the day to be over. It is not all that eventful around here yet. I am ready to go home. Tonight, we are going to the cafe with his parents for the Preseason Steelers’ Game. I am so excited to just drink some beer and chill.
