Starbucks Friday & Friday the 13th

So today is finally Friday, but not just any Friday. It is Friday the 13th! Yesterday, I saw a black cat along our walkway, and that is not a good sign. I love the supernatural and the unexplained and scary. I am down for anything halloween and spooky, but a black cat is never a good sign, but they are so cute. Yesterday, was not a good day, which contributed to a long week. I really don’t want to relive this week. It was stressful and so trying. I am ready for a weekend.

Today, I have some requests to do and some things to follow up on, and then it is the weekend. I am ready for 4:30PM. I need a weekend. This morning, we stopped at Starbucks once we arrived into Oakland I got a Trenta iced coffee with one shot of espresso with no sweetener. a Trenta! I  didn’t even know they made a size bigger than the venti! I had to try it. So I dedicate this Friday to Starbucks and the Trenta size.
This evening, I hope we are doing anything, but hanging out. Tomorrow hopefully is another pool day. Sunday, I will at my cousins in Monroeville. I will have updates soon.

1-Hour to Go

This morning, we arrived in Oakland and stopped at Starbucks. I got my usual, iced caramel macchiato with quad espresso. Drew got his usual, a red-eye (iced coffee with espresso). When we left Starbucks, we kissed and wished each other a good day. He is going to pick me up at 11am, then we are going to head home, grab our suitcases, load up my dad’s car, and then my dad is going to drive us to the airport. I am so excited. I took the David Lawrence bridge to my building. I called my mom and we talked, while I was on my way to my office. I told her I had a meltdown last night because I couldn’t find my black Coach sunglasses. I love those sunglasses. I bought them back in 2013 at Costco! They were probably last season, but that is okay. 🙂 Well, I found them in my book bag, just laying there. I screamed when I found them.  I was so happy! After I got off the phone with my mom, I got online and tried to pass the time. I am over it. I am ready to go! I can’t wait for Drew to pick me up so we can head to the airport.

At one point, Nancy went into the kitchen around 10:30am, to heat up her pierogi casserole, that she made for the staff picnic today. I actually forgot about it, but I have a plane to catch! I was in the kitchen chatting with her, then Drew texted me and told me that he was outside on Bouquet street. I was so excited! I hung up a little sign on my door, that said, “On vacation until June 1st, if you need to reach Dan please send him an e-mail” (Dan is the Professor, I share office space with, well the entrance into his office, is through my office.) I said, goodbye to Nancy and I was out the door. I was ready to go!

When we arrived back to our house, my dad was in the parking lot waiting for us to get home. I knew he would be early. I wondered for a minute how long he had been sitting there, waiting. We greeted him and we all went inside the house, and we packed the last minute stuff. Drew got a call from Parliament. They needed to push back our tour to a different time, due to some issue. He explained that he also booked the noon tea. He said, that they could push that back to 3:45pm if we agreed to this new time. We agreed. I knew something was off that day, but I can’t remember what. I knew that we had tickets to see something else that day, and it closed really early. I have been struggling to keep up with the itinerary for this trip, so much to back in within 8 days! I am up for the challenge.
When we got the car loaded up, we drove to the airport. My dad was so excited for us and jealous that we were going to Europe. I bet he wishes he could go. When he dropped us off at curbside, we tried checking our luggage in and they said, “Oh well since it is an international flight, you have to go inside and get your boarding passes and your passports scanned.” I said, “Okay.” We wheeled our suitcases inside and up to the American Airlines counter. We scanned our passports, got our boarding passes, and, checked in our luggage. Then we were on our way to airside. We had plans to see Dylan. He is a waiter at Penn Brewery. We were going to have lunch there before our plane takes off. They are supposed to feed us on the plane, but not sure what time, or if it will be any good.
When we arrived at Penn Brewery, I saw the back of Dylan’s head and yelled, “Dylan Murtha!” He turned around and laughed. He said, “Hey girl!” He sat us at a booth. He took our drink orders. He recommended a beer for me. I am a miller lite girl. I forget the name of the beer I had, but I had two. I couldn’t finish the second one. I asked him what I should get to eat? I gave him the options “Steak salad, or chicken sandwich.” He said, “Steak salad.” I said, “Wait is it real ranch or that nasty ranch?” He laughs because he knew exactly what I was talking about. Nothing is worse than mayo type ranch. I like real ranch, when restaurants make it themselves, or hidden valley.
After we ate Dylan took a picture of me and Drew. We goodbye to Dylan and then went to our gate where our flight was boarding. We had a flight to Philly, then an hour layover before another flight to England! The flight to Philly was short and sweet. The flight attendant made it so peaceful. When we were about to take off she said, “Sit back, close your eyes, and think of someone you love.” I did just that, I sat back and looked over at Drew and we smiled at each other. He held my hand as we went into the air. I do love him. He is the someone that I love. 🙂
When we arrived in Philly, we went to our gate first, and then to get coffee at Dunkin. Philly airport is a madhouse. People everywhere. We were also on the international side of the Airport. So many different languages and cultures. I have never been on this side of an airport before. I took a selfie, out of boredom anxiousness.

When we boarded the plane, I had to pee from all the iced coffee. After we got situated and in the air, I used the bathroom on the plane. Ugh, that is an experience all in its own. When I got back to my seat, I tried to find something to watch on the monitor in front of me.  All the guy next to me wanted to do was complain about how his leg rest won’t go back and he won’t be comfortable on the flight. I put my headphones on, and so did Drew. Drew watched  Black Panther. I struggled to find something to watch. I am so picky. I found this series called the Miniaturist.  If you are into period dramas, then you will love this show. Only three episodes were uploaded into the monitor, but I was so hooked.
Image result for the miniaturist
At one point dinner arrived, It was either a chicken dish or a tomato pasta with feta cheese. I picked the tomato pasta with feta cheese. I wasn’t sure about airline chicken. I did try the vegetarian thing there for a while, and I had to eat meat at Maci’s birthday party. It as either eat meat or don’t eat. The tomato pasta was so good, and they served dinner rolls, and then there was a little dessert with it. I had two vodka and tonics. They were so yummy. This is my new favorite drink.

After I finished two episodes of the miniaturist. I tried to sleep, but I couldn’t get comfy. The seats really don’t go back that far, and my neck was so stiff. I knew I wasn’t going to well rest, but the adrenaline would kick in and I would be fine.

At one point, I turned on the GPS where it shows the flight map. I watched the flight path, and it was amazing that we flew over the Atlantic. I thought about the Titanic. I thought about how scary it is to be just flying over open water, so crazy. I looked over to the left side of the plane, and you could see total darkness, but if you look at the east side of the plane, you could see the sun starting to come up, we = would be landing in England soon and it was about to be a new day.

Friday: Paris and Louie

I did not sleep at all last night. I feel like I was awake for most of the night. I slept in my parent’s room with the dogs. Paris slept up by my chest in a ball, and Louie slept by my stomach on his side. I love how they snuggle.

My alarm went off at 5:00am. I got up turned off the alarm and took them outside to do their business. Then brought them back inside, locked the door. We went back to bed until 5:30am, then I got up and got a shower, dressed, and fed them breakfast. I took them out one more time before I left the house.

When I arrived at the bus stop, it was almost 6:30am. I was going to be so early, but I never know with them. I don’t know how long things will take, or if they will cooperate, but they did this morning. When I arrived in Oakland it was almost 7:15am. I stopped at Dunkin and got a coffee. I was so early.

When I arrived at my department, I opened up the place and put my lunch in the fridge. Then I sat down and browsed on Facebook, while I drank my coffee. Too early to start working. I started working around 8:00am. I got a lot done so far, and the day is still new. I feel bad I had to leave the dogs this morning. Louie watched me leave and gave me this look like I was the biggest asshole in the world. I am hoping to leave at 3:30pm today we will see. Drew is coming over after this evening to my parents to spend the evening with me and the dogs.

At the end of the day, I was able to leave work at 3:15pm. I was excited to be able to bug out a little earlier. When I got home, I took the dogs outside and they were so happy to have someone home! Then I took them upstairs and I got a shower and then tried to take a little nap, before Drew arrived. I slept for about 10 mins and then got up. I wanted to get the dogs fed, before Drew came home, and before we went to the Hop House for dinner.

When Drew arrived home, I was somewhat irritable. This period has to come soon. I am getting so anxious. I apologized for being so irritable. I am having all the symptoms it’s just no period.  What the hell! I can’t be pregnant. I don’t want to be pregnant right now. We got ready to leave the house.

When we arrived at the Hop House, there were a few people at the bar, and at the tables. Most people were outside. We thought about sitting outside, but for some reason, I thought it was kind of chilly. We took a seat the bar. We ordered our drinks. I was in the mood for a magic hat #9.  I was ready to get the weekend started. It has been a pretty easy week for the most part, but I do love my weekends.

Dinner was yummy. We split a soft pretzel for an appetizer, and for dinner, I had a chicken salad for dinner and Drew had a steak hoagie. This restaurant is our favorite little hole in the wall. We come here, only when we dog sit.

After we left, we went home and took the dogs for a little walk around the block, they did their business. Then we got them settled for the night. We watched Jersey Shore Family Vacation, then I went up to bed and the dogs followed. Drew stayed up for awhile and watched television. I was so tired. Tomorrow is another busy day!

Dog Sitting

This morning, I got up a little earlier than usual. I needed to get my car packed up. I got dressed, and packed up my car. What good is going over to your parents, if you can’t take your dirty laundry? I bagged up my dirty clothes in a garbage bag, and then packed up my duffle bag and my dress for Maci’s party on Saturday.

When we left the house, I met Drew at the bus stop and we drove to Crafton in my car, so we could take the bus together. Then, he would take the Moon bus home, and I would take the Crafton bus back to my parent’s. We had this all coordinated. When we arrived in Crafton, it was close to 7am. We missed the 28X as I was parking the car. He was like, “Oh man.”  I said, “We will be okay. We can get another bus and still be on time.” I don’t like the 28X anyway, even though it takes right to Oakland.

When we got on the Crafton bus, it was packed. The ride to downtown went pretty quick. I had my purse, umbrella, and two library books that I planned to return today at lunch. I was struggling to hold everything on my lap, as the bus was moving. This will be a lot easier on the way home.

When we arrived down town we got off the bus and walked to the bus stop to pick up a 61 or a 71. A 71 came by first, so we hopped onto that bus. When we arrived in Oakland, I got off at the stop where the Starbucks is on Fifth. I kissed Drew goodbye, and he went to his office in the cathedral. I needed coffee.

After I left Starbucks with a hot caramel macchiato in my hand, I was on my way to my office. I was running a little late, but I didn’t care. No one was going to know. I am on time most days and stay later than I have to on most days, and some times do not even take a full lunch hour, so it all comes out in the wash.

When I arrived to my office, I got started. There isn’t too much going on today. When Nancy came in we touched base regarding the drama in her friend’s circle. Wynn came down a little later in the morning, and asked me if I wanted to go the Greek Festival with them today. I was touched. I love when they include me. I said, I would love to. They take cards so I wouldn’t have to get cash. I haven’t been to the Greek festival yet. Drew said he went last year and it was so good. He wants me to bring him back a Gyro. I forgot a Gyro was Greek, that is what I will have. I don’t really know about anything else on the menu. I am weird about food.

When we arrived to the Greek Festival the line for the Gryos and hot food was up the sidewalk, past the church. I stood in line. Nancy, Wynn, and Lindsay went inside to get inline for food. I wanted a gyro and so did Drew, so I was determined to wait in line. There were a couple guys in line behind me, who were facilities people at Pitt. They were talking usual guy talk. I surfed my phone, texted Drew, and pretty soon I was next in line. It didn’t take too long. I got a freshly squeezed lemonade too. I can’t tell you the last time I had lemonade. I ordered two gyros and an order of Greek fries to go. My total was $28. I walked inside to meet up with the girls, and they were at a table, and had already finished eating. I sat down and opened one of the gyros and started to eat. They all thought I was crazy for waiting in the line.

On our way back from the festival, I stopped at the cathedral and dropped off the other gyro and the fries for Drew. The ladies made fun of me for bringing him his lunch. One of the women has been married twice and the other married for a few years with a daughter.  I didn’t care. Drew and I are newly married and I don’t do this all the time for him, and besides we were close any way to the cathedral.

When I left work it was 3:30pm, I stopped at the library and returned my two books. I browsed the shelves for a couple books to read this week and next. I wanted to read tonight at my parents. I picked up two historical fiction books. One about Charles Dickens, the other about Lord Byron’s illegitimate child. What I wanted was Hemingway’s movable feast about his time in Paris in the 1920s, but I couldn’t find it. I didn’t even think to ask my old professor if I could borrow his copy.

When I met up with Drew around 4:30pm, we took the bus out of Oakland together. He seemed moody and grumpy from the day. I was kind of glad I was going to my parents and spending the evening by myself with the dogs. I think with his attitude and how he is annoyed by the dogs, we would have wound up in an argument. Also, my period is 3 days late! I took a test yesterday morning and it said Negative and it was a definitive negative. I knew I wasn’t pregnant, but still this is annoying, just start already!

When we arrived down town, we kissed goodbye the G3 to take him to Moon was quick to arrive. Typically, I am the first one to get on the bus, when I have to go to Crafton. Shortly after his bus took off, a G2 arrived to take me to crafton. On the way home, I listened to music and stared out the window.

When I arrived in Crafton, I got off the bus and went to my car. I drove to Dollar General to get more pads. I didn’t want to be out of them. I was close to it from wearing a pad every day waiting for this period to arrive! After I left Dollar General, I went to Subway and got a foot long subway club on wheat with everything on it, but olives and jalapenos.

When I arrived to my parents, I set my subway bag and drink on the table outside and opened my parents’ back door. There were the dogs at the door. They ran outside on the porch to greet me. It was like unleash the hounds! I bent down to give them kisses and loves. I bet they are so confused. I let them run around in the grass and go to the bathroom, then I carried my food in and set it on the table. I got their food ready, and then set their dishes down. Louie loves to eat. Paris takes her time.

After dinner, I brought in my stuff, and took my dirty laundry downstairs. I put a load in, and then got a shower. After my shower, I ate half of my subway sandwich, then snuggled the dogs. I watched most of The Rage: Carrie 2, and Revolutionary Road.

One thing about the Rage, is that it was set in the 2000s. The turn of the millennium. I noticed all the fashion statements, and stereotypes from that time period. It is weird to think it was that long ago. I had existential moment.

Before I went to bed around 10pm, I let the dogs out one more time. Louie went, but Paris did not, then I locked up the house and went to bed.

Barre

This morning, I woke up refreshed and ready to go. We were on our way to the car and I said, “That is the smell of the promise of a new day!” He said, “Get in the car.” We both laughed. Somehow, some way I became a morning person and I am not sure why. I don’t mind mornings. It is weird. I never was this way as a kid, or even in high school. I was always moody in the mornings when I was younger.

When we arrived in Oakland, we stopped at Starbucks. I ordered a venti, iced caramel macchiato with an extra shot of espresso. Then I said, “And whatever this Ray of Sunshine wants.” She smiled and took down Drew’s order, and wrote on the cup his name and the words, “Ray of Sunshine.” I laughed. I told Drew what was on the cup and he laughed. I was hoping they would call it out, “Andrew Ray of Sunshine”, but they didn’t.

Today, Nancy is back! I am so happy to see her. She looks like she doesn’t want to be here. She says she is tired from the weekend and having two days off. I bet she is ready to just hang out and do whatever. Nothing too really exciting is going on today.

After work, I met up with Drew and we drove home. It was a bit of a long drive home. There was some traffic. After we got home, I got changed, kissed Drew goodbye, and went to the gym.

When I arrived at the gym, it was dead for the most part. I got on a treadmill and did five minutes of cardio before class. I like to get a little in before I start barre. When I was finished, I cleaned the machine and then walked into the basketball court area, where the class was being held. I grabbed a chair, a mat, weights, and a stretchy band. There were only 2 other people in the class. I liked it that way. I set up in the middle of the floor.

Next, to me, there was an 8-year-old girl, who was going to take the class for the first time. She thought it was going to be ballet, so she started doing little twirls up on the balls of her feet. I felt bad. She was also deaf and a little slow. I was hoping the instructor would be nice to her and go easy on her, but at the same time, I wanted to be sore the next day have a good class. Is that wrong of me?

When class got underway, we started our piles and leg work like always. Then, Chris, the instructor kept correcting the little girl. I felt so bad. We did the typical leg lifts with the chair, some arm works with the band. It seemed as soon as the little girl figured out what to do, we were on to the next exercise. It was hard for her to keep up. Of course, we did some ab work on the mats.

While we were laying down on the mats, I glanced over at the little girl and she smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up. I was touched. She looked at me to mimic my positions. She was trying so hard to keep up. I told her that I was sleepy in sign language. She said she was too. I do not know much ASL, but this little girl inspired me to learn.

After the class was over, we were putting our stuff back, and cleaning our mats. The little girl approached me and gave me a high five. I high fived her and said, we did it. She smiled and gave me a thumbs up. She asked me how old I was. She signed me her age. I signed her my age. She was shocked. It was cute. She was cute.

When I was getting ready to leave the gym, her mom was sitting on a chair waiting for her daughter. I said she is so cute. Her mom was a little deaf too, but she seemed to be able to hear bits and pieces. She said, Thank you with her voice and in sign language. The little girl was trying to get my attention, so I looked back at her. She said, “Goodnight” to me in sign language. I looked at her mom. Her mom taught me how to sign goodnight. I had so many things in my hands; my phone, keys, earbuds, and water. I tried to sign using what hand motions I could with how much I had in my hands. She smiled and gave me thumbs up. I said, Goodbye to Chris and then I was on my way home.

When I arrived home, I packed up to go to my parents, and then I got a shower. It is so much to pack up to go over there for a few days.  I put all my stuff by the stairs. I got a text from Drew’s mom asking we could pick up Aunt Tootsie and bring her over to his parents for dinner on Sunday? I said I would ask Drew when he got home from the gym. I told her that I am just meeting him at your place because my mom and I are getting pedicures in the morning before heading over.

After I sent the text, I called Drew and asked him if he would be okay with picking up Aunt Tootsie and taking her to his parents on Sunday? He said, yea no problem. I said, Steve and Maryann may pick her up, but they haven’t confirmed if they are coming to dinner yet or not. He said, not a problem. I texted Drew’s mom and told her that I just spoke with Drew and he said, he can pick her up if need be. She said, thank you. I thought to myself damn he is way easier going than I am.

Transformation Thursday

After work today, I had a hair appointment.  I took the bus from Oakland to Downtown with Drew.  We kissed goodbye. He was getting on the Moon bus and going to hang out with Zach to watch the Penguins game. I got on the Crafton bus.  When I stepped onto the bus, I tapped the scanner with my Pitt ID. I looked up at the driver. It was the same driver from the day before. I noticed him then and he looked familiar. How do I know this guy and he clearly knows me. I bet I know him from when I used to go to the clubs in station square. I may know him through promoter people, so weird and mind-boggling.
When we approached the Ingram stop, I stood up and held on to the pole. I was getting off after the Ingram stop. I look up at the bus driver and we make eye contact in the mirror. He smiles and I smile back. I was careful not to give the impression that I was interested, but how do I know this guy?

When I arrived at the hair, nail, and tanning salon. I saw Lynn in the back and I told her that I was here for my 6:30 with Kim. She said, “oh okay.” I said, “Do you want to leave? I will watch for tanners, and put them in the bed.” She said, ”really you don’t mind?” I said, “No take the evening off.” She laughed and thanked me. I took a seat in Leanne’s chair and took off the polish on my toes. I painted my toes a peachy orange color. Then I decided to pop off my acrylics. I was missing one of my index fingers, and we already spent so much money booking our attractions. I just figured I would take them off and save some money. I do like them, but I can’t keep up with them. I hate how they look after a while when they needed to be filled. Leanne might be pissed, but whatever.

When Kim arrived, she started on my hair. Her son’s baseball team lost the game. She thanked me for being cool about her being late. I said, “not a problem.” She heavy highlighted my hair. I wanted more blonde. I buffed my nails while the highlights were setting.
After a while under the dryer, she took the foils out and washed my hair. I was so excited to see it. When she was brushing out my hair, it already looked so much lighter. I just felt like my hair was thin and stringy. I had her cut my hair to my collarbone. I was taking a risk of getting it short, but I needed a change. I wanted to feel lighter. She then trimmed up my bangs. I hoped Drew was going to be okay with this. He does like my hair long.
After my hair was dry and styled, I decided to go tanning. I set the bed for 20 mins. I knew that was probably too long, but we will see. I shut the door, stripped down, and lotioned up. I laid in the bed. I shut the lid. I took a little nap. I definitely felt myself falling asleep. It’s one of those sleep where your body jumps, and you wake up. I sleep so soundly in a tanning bed. 🙂
At one point, I felt like I was getting too much my back was starting to feel too hot. I got out of the bed, shut the lid so the light wasn’t so bright. I got dressed and turned the bed off. Then, I cleaned the bed and shut the light off. I walked back to the front and paid for my hair and rescheduled my next appointment.
On my way home, I stopped at my parents to see my dogs and eat cereal. I was hungry, but I didn’t want to cook dinner, or stop and get fast food. When I arrived at my parents, I teased my dad about the Penguins and Capitals game. My dad was born and raised in Washington DC. He loves his Washington Redskins, Capitals, and Nationals. I cheer for the Redskins occasionally, just to make him happy. Louie ran up the walkway to greet me at the gate. He is the sweetest dog ever, our first boy dog, but he is so sweet. I picked him up and kissed him and held him. He doesn’t like being held really, but I do it anyway. I walked halfway down the walkway before I set him down. Paris was on the back porch. It was too wet for her to greet me. She doesn’t like when it rains. I greeted her when I walked into the house.
After I ate two bowls of cereal and talked to my parents for a bit. I left I was ready to go home. When I arrived back to my house, I showered and got into some PJs. I sat down to watch Howard’s End. I have been trying to get into this series, simply because it is a British show. I am having a hard time falling in love with it.
After a while, Drew came home. He said he loved my hair. He does like my hair longer though. I am glad he likes it. It will grow eventually I told him. We talked about Zach and the Penguins.

Writing Center

I broke down and made an appointment with the Writing Center. I have heard that they are not constructed properly for Graduate Students, and they are more geared to undergrad. I needed to find someone else to proof read my paper. I did have my previous Lit professor, Spe read it. He made his comments, but I have no clue how to apply them. I agree with his suggestions and I think some areas of my paper need tweaked and tightened up, but I have no clue how to go about it. I also had another graduate student here in the Sociology department read my paper. I think he did a better job of trying to help me and giving me things to think about for me to expand my thoughts and add more sentences to some of these paragraphs, but I still needed help figuring out where to begin.
When I was checking out the website for the Writing Center. I noticed there are a few different schedules O’Hara Student Center schedule, and the Hillman Library Schedule. I want the Hillman Library Writing Center, it is closer to where I work. I made the appointment during my lunch hour at 1 pm. I printed out my paper, and then I figured I better call the writing center and see how this works. When I talked to the administrator, she said, that once you enter the library, walk towards the Cup and Chaucer (a coffee bar), then to your write, you will see a sign that says, “Writing Center.” You will hang out there and wait for the tutor. I said, Oh okay, easy enough. I gave her the name of the tutor I scheduled with online, and she told me what the tutor looks like, so I would know who to look for, while I was waiting.
When I arrived at the Writing Center, it was about 12:40pm. I looked around for my tutor and didn’t see her. I flipped through my paper, and scrolled through my phone. I was nervous. It was almost like a blind date. At one point, I looked up and saw a woman with red hair standing near a table, with her daughter. I stood up and introduced myself. I figured this must be her. She and I shook hands, and then she sat down at the table with me. I turned back and said hi to her daughter. She was so cute. She sat the table behind us.
Throughout the appointment, the tutor read over my paper from start to finish. She made corrections here and there, and gave me some things to think about and possibly how many sentences I might need to write to expand on my thoughts in certain places. I am so glad I made this decision. I wish I would have started this process last week, but I thought I was not going to need the writing Center, because of Spe, but it turns out I did need them and I just hope I had enough time. Time flew by, and I was a half hour late coming back from my lunch hour. I felt so terrible. I am never late. I never did this before.
When I arrived back to the office, I apologized to Nancy she said don’t worry about it. I immediately fired off an e-mail to Phyllis, my supervisor. I knew she wasn’t in this afternoon, but I just wanted to make her aware of the situation and how I planned to make it up during my lunch hour next week. I was hoping she would understand.
In the afternoon, I did some requests and made the corrections on my paper. I also e-mailed the tutor. We have an appointment to meet at 11am-12pm tomorrow. I talked to Nancy and I have to be here, while she is at a Department Meeting from 12pm-2pm and needs to leave her office a few minutes earlier to get set up. My appointment will be cut short, but I think I will be okay. My week is going to be a bit chaotic next week. We have prospective students coming in to visit the department. I will see what happens, but it’s going to come to a point, where I will have to turn it in eventually, and the grade that I get is the grade that I get. I will have to learn from this for the next paper.
After work, I walked to the cathedral to go meet Drew. I was ready to get out of Oakland.  When we met up, I told him how hungry I was and how I just wanted a burger. He said, I feel the same way. We drove from Oakland to Red Robin. It wasn’t a bad drive and we were so ready to eat some good food and have a couple beers.
When we arrived to Red Robin, we sat at the bar, and ordered Coors Light, and put our food order in. We chatted about England, work, and how it is almost the weekend! When our food arrived, it didn’t have a prayer. I was a bit of a glutton. I had two orders of fries and two beers. He had two beers and three orders of fries. Bottom less fries get us every time! It was such a good idea.
When we got home, I got a shower and put some pjs on, and then we watched the Office. We are on Season 4. Jim and Pam are together and officially a couple. They admitted it to the Office! After that I fell asleep. I was so tired. I have so much going on anymore. I can’t stay awake. Tomorrow is Friday.

The Start of Christmas Break

This morning, I woke up, got a shower, got dressed. We get to leave work at 1pm today, so I just dressed in jeans and a long sleeve shirt, with a t-shirt over my long sleeve shirt. I didn’t care. I was ready for a break.

When I left my parent’s I drove to the bus stop and wasn’t long before I got on a bus. The commute to downtown was much quicker since I was at my parents. When I got to Oakland, I grabbed a coffee and then walked to my building. I was hoping for a smooth day. I just wanted to stay in my office and watch the clock. I said, Good morning to Nancy when she came in and made an attempt to get to know a co-worker, who I really haven’t talked to before. It was a refreshing way to end the year at work.

Around 1pm, Nancy and I locked up our files, turned out the Christmas lights, and locked up the department. We wished each other Merry Christmas and said, We would see each other in the New Year.

When I arrived at the bus stop, I got on the bus, and the commute to downtown was so quick, I had miles to go before I could go home. When I got back to the bus stop, I drove to Robinson. I picked up my mother-in-law’s Christmas gift at the Things Remembered. It’s a picture frame; 8×10.  On the bottom of the picture frame, it is engraved with mine and Drew’s Wedding Date with fall leaves. The people at things remembered engraved it at the bottom, the frame is vertical. The picture is a horizontal picture. I didn’t realize this might be a problem, but hopefully, it was going to be okay.

When I got to Walmart, I got the wedding picture printed, which almost didn’t happen because I didn’t have proof of copyrights. I was so pissed, but they let me get a copy of it. I need to get in touch with John from Moods Image, but I haven’t been able to track him down.

After Walmart, I went to the dollar store for last minute gift bags, and wrapping, then to Burger King and got us some dinner. I was not cooking tonight. When I finally got home, I brought everything into the house, we ate dinner, and I wrapped gifts. I was so happy to be home. I threw in some laundry and settled in for the night.  In the evening, we watched a movie together, until it was time for bed. I couldn’t wait to sleep with Drew. I missed him.

Pedicures & Thanksgiving Break

At work today, I got out at 3:00pm. I couldn’t wait to leave. I quickly locked everything up and said, Happy Thanksgiving to Linda, then I went down to the escalator. I found Nicollette there waiting for me. She and I jumped up and down and hugged. We walked to the Nail salon in Oakland, where we both had appointments. We were going to get pedicures together and start our Thanksgiving break off right. Our pedicures didn’t last long, but they were relaxing.

When I got home, Drew and I went to dinner at Yai Fei, and then to Kirklands to look at Christmas decorations. We bought an ornament for our tree. It is a reindeer with an “H” on his belly. After Kirklands we went home and made the cheese and cracker tray to take to his parents tomorrow. We made it in the shape of a turkey. I am so excited for thanksgiving.
Thursday, we picked up Aunt Tootsie and then drove to his parents. When we got to his parents, my parents were already there. My mother-in-law arrived shortly after, she had to help transport grandma. I had so much to be thankful for, my family was there all together. It was so nice. Dinner was yummy. We have so much left over. We will be eating Thanksgiving all week long and perhaps longer.
After we left his parents, we went to visit Grandma, she seemed to be doing well. She just had the heart cath put in for the valve that will get replaced next month. She will be joining us for Christmas, but wasn’t able to come to Thanksgiving dinner. Grandma was so happy to see us. She looked pretty good. After we visited with Grandma, we went home and relaxed for the rest of evening. I was so tired.
Black Friday, we were slow to get ready. We went to the gym for a bit. It wasn’t all that packed. Then we went to the liquor store and picked up some Kahlua for when we decorate the tree later. I like to have Kahlua and cream while we decorate the tree. When we got home, we got showered and I changed into something festive. We put Christmas music on and decorated the tree and the house with Christmas decorations. Andrew put his arms around me and said, “Our love is like Christmas pure and beautiful!” I was like, “Awwwe!” He is so sweet when he wants to be. After we decorated, I heated us up some Thanksgiving dinner and then we watched Star Wars the Empire Strikes back. I love Vader.

30th Birthday & 2 Years of Marriage

Today, I am 30 years old. I feel pretty good about it surprisingly.

This morning, we went to Starbucks, when we got off the bus and I got my usual. A venti blonde roast with a pump of pumpkin, and room for cream. Since I am a Starbucks reward member, I get a free Birthday drink. Drew got his usual, venti iced coffee with a shot of espresso.

We parted and went to our buildings, I called my mom and she wished me a Happy Birthday. We talked for a bit, then when I got off the phone with her I got some work done. I don’t have too much going on right now, but that will probably change tomorrow after I meet with my DGS. It will make the week go by faster.

When Nancy arrived, she brought me a blueberry muffin, and wished me Happy Birthday! I told her Thank you! I was glad I didn’t get any pastries at Starbucks this morning!

At 11:45am today, I met Drew at the bottom of the escalators and we went to lunch. He was so cute. He held my hand, while we walked to Stacked. He asked me how my day was going and if I was having a good birthday so far? I said I was having a great day.  We walked to Stacked together.

When we arrived at Stacked, they aren’t so busy. It was nice. We got right in and got a table. We both did a build your own burger and curly fries. Lunch was so good. After lunch, went to the book store and he bought me a Pitt phone case since mine broke this morning. I really need a case, this phone has to last me.

After we left the bookstore, we went back to work. I didn’t want to go back at all. Thankfully the day went by quickly, and it was time to meet up with Drew again to catch the bus

When we got home, we made dinner and he went to the store. He got me flowers and two cupcakes so we both could have one, while he sang Happy Birthday to me. After dinner, we watched Halloween II. It was a great way to start a new decade. I felt so loved and so happy.
