Birthday Dinner at My Parents

Birthday Dinner at My Parents

This morning we had a chiropractor appointment. I was finally going to get my ankle adjusted. He asked why I didn’t come to the office when my accident happened and I said because it happened in the afternoon on a Tuesday and you weren’t in. I am sure he would have made a special visit to the office to adjust me if he had to. He is a family friend.

After I was adjusted my ankle was a bit sore and tender. It didn’t feel good. I knew that was going to be the case. After the Chiropractor, we went home and I did some homework until it was time to go to my parents for dinner.

When we arrived, it was a little after 4pm. I was tied up. I was so happy to see my parents my dogs. I helped my mom a little in the kitchen, while Drew and my dad watched football in the living room.

For dinner, we ate beef tenderloin and asparagus. For dessert, there wasn’t a birthday cake because I am keto. However, they used a candle to sing Happy Birthday to me. My birthday gift from my parents was a rose gold iPad Pro. I love it! I can’t wait to get a case for it. My parents and my husband spoil me.

We had a great time at dinner and I loved seeing my dogs!

Writing

This morning I woke up and had some coffee and breakfast with Drew, then it was back to work. I finished my paper and got a shower. I felt so raunchy. Drew was going to leave around 2:30pm that day to head back to our house, and I think he wanted to go to the gym too. I felt like I was ready for the tutor to make her corrections and be able to turn it in on Monday, October 1st. I just won’t have time over the weekend to do anymore. When Drew left, I snuggled with the dogs and got ready for work the next day.

Dog Sitting

I managed to get my reading done on yesterday so I would have something to discuss in class. whew!

Also,  I had to dog sit for my parents starting September 19-25th. I am excited to see my dogs and I don’t mind doing it, but it seems like I have to pack up my life. I have so much to pack, clothes, stuff for school, etc. Packing is the hard part. I have such a tight schedule anymore. I had to RMU to meet with John Locke tomorrow after work, then start packing up the car to head to my parents Wednesday morning. channeling super girl.

Pool Weekend

This weekend we spent most of the day at the pool. Lately, it has been raining here and it was not a good pool weekend last weekend, but we wanted to try to get some sun time in this weekend.

Yesterday, I got my hair colored. I get it done every 6 weeks. My hair is a little darker at the top at the roots, and the rest is all blonde. It makes my green eyes just pop. I love it. My hair girl does such a good job and it is definitely Boujee on a Budget.  She didn’t charge me for layering my hair and angling my bangs, all she charged me for was the color.

After my hair appointment, since I was in the neighborhood, I went to see my parents and my dogs. Once, I parked next to my dad’s SUV, I saw the dogs come running up the back walkway. I got out of the car and opened the gate, and stepped inside my parents’ backyard. I love when they run up the walkway. I bent down, kissed them, and pet them little, before going inside. I hugged my dad and went inside the kitchen. I love stopping by my parent’s house even if it is just for a brief minute.

In the kitchen, my mom made us coffee, and I got a bowl of cereal. We chatted for a bit, and told them about last night (Drew and I went out with his Aunt and Uncle for dinner.) We had a good time out with his Aunt and Uncle and are hoping to eventually one day buy their house when they are ready to move, but we have a while to go and so do they, but it something to think about. My parents want to move, but they are waiting to see where we end up.

After spending some time there and catching up, I went home to my husband so we could get ready to go to the pool. When I walked in, he just finished making breakfast. Then we were going to get ready to go. I brought in the rest of the Hint water. I was raving about this water to my parents. We drink it all the time at Drew’s parents. It has no sweetener, no calories, just fruit infused water from non-GMO plants. I love it. I haven’t tried all the favors yet. I have tried Peach, Blackberry, and I think I tasted the Lemon Cayenne ( I wasn’t a fan). I do like Lemon anything mostly, just not mixed with Cayenne. My mom said, that the Hint water might have been giving her a headache. She didn’t want to chance it anymore.  I understood and didn’t mind taking the cases of water home. Andrew and I inhale it.

When we arrived at the pool, it wasn’t as packed as we thought it would be. We laid out our towels, and put some sunscreen on. I wasn’t sure if I should get my hair wet being that I just got it done. Kim said, if I wet my hair before going in the water, I should be okay.  I didn’t want to chance it, so I put it up in a ponytail, and put a hat on and played it safe in the shallow. I did lay in the water, but my head was on the steps. I didn’t want to risk it.

We stayed until 2:30PM. We had errands to run and dinner to make. I wasn’t feeling it since I couldn’t get my hair wet. We were planning to come back again tomorrow anyway. When we went home, we got showered and then got ready to go to Walmart. We needed a shower caddy to hang over the shower head to hang out loofahs on. Also, I got some Olay micro bubbles body wash. He needs hair styling creme, and deodorant (so exciting.) I also grabbed a case of Lemon La Croix sparkling later there. That is also very Boujee on a Budget. La Croix is cheaper at Walmart but you only get 8 cans vs. 12 cans at your local grocery store.

After Walmart, we went to the grocery store and got our groceries for the week. Lately, we have been on this fish kick. We try to eat a lot of fish. I got some salmon burgers and this giant thing of salmon that was marinated in sweet bourbon. We picked up some chicken. I get tired sometimes of the same old, same old, but our work schedules don’t allow time for us to really change up our dinners. I would love some suggestions if you have any!

On the way home from the grocery store, Andrew said, “oh wow it is going on 7pm. I think it might be too late to cook. Do you just want to order pizza? Pizza Hut had that $7.99 deal for a large two-topping.” For some reason, we both were craving Pizza Hut. I agreed to the pizza. I honestly didn’t feel like cooking with it being so late.

When we got home, we unloaded the groceries, I put in some laundry, and he called for Pizza. I took some more laundry downstairs. When Andrew, left to go get the pizza I picked up my book the Death of Mrs. Westaway. I haven’t had much time to read it lately. I need to finish it before I start grad school, and before it is due back to the library. I am not going to have time to read for pleasure here soon at all.

Once he came home with the pizza, I put the book away and opened the door for him. We ate pizza and watched Smallville. We are on season 4 now. I have such an affinity for Superman, especially Tom Welling.

Today, it was more of the same. We went to the pool, and once we arrived there I wet my hair in the locker room, and then came outside. I was excited to get in the water and swim around. Once we found our spot, we laid our towels down and put some sunscreen on. The weather app on our iPhones said, rain around 2pm-3pm. We were hoping we would have time in the sun before the rain arrived.

The clouds rolled and the first couple raindrops fell around 2:00pm. We packed up to leave, as I type this it is now 4:11 and the sun is out and shining through my living room window. It never fails. When we got home, I got showered, and then made some guacamole. We are addicted. We watched one episode of Smallville, and he is now doing some work from home.

Eventually, I will have to cook dinner. I am not looking forward to starting a new week. The weekends go by so fast. I hope everyone had a great, safe, and happy weekend!

Andrew’s Birthday Pt.2

Andrew’s Birthday Pt.2

This morning, I had a nail appt with my mom at Bella’s nails in Crafton. I met my mom at my parents’ house so I can see my doggies. I got to see them for a bit, then it was out the door to Bella’s. I drove my car to the nail salon. We stopped to get coffee on the way. Once we got to Bella’s, I signed in and told them that I was here for Ana. I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a full set or just a little bit of tip with the acrylic dip. I wasn’t sure. I needed to talk to Ana. I knew she was running late, but I didn’t want anyone else to do my nails, but Ana.
When Ana arrived, she asked if I could come outside for a second? I walked outside, and she said, “I am sorry, but I have an 11:30am. Do you mind if someone else does your nails? I feel terrible.” I said, “yes, that is okay.” she said, “I will still do mom’s, but what exactly do you want done to your nails?” I said, “Well I know I want the dip, but I think I want a little tip on the end for some length, but not too long.” She said, “Okay.” She walked in and explained to the man who was doing my nails what I wanted.  I was so nervous it was hard for me to relax. Well, they turned out great! Now I am trying to get used to life with nails again.  I thought Drew was going to kill me. He likes my natural nails.

After the nail salon, my mom and I met my dad at Hanlon’s for breakfast, in Crafton/Ingram Shopping Center. I love that place. I didn’t like it when it first opened up. I missed what it used to be, Andrea’s. The food tasted so good at Andrea’s. I was excited to see my dad.
At breakfast, we talked about work, and my upcoming semester of grad school, and etc. We talked about the concert, and how the lead singers aged and sounded a little different than what they used to sound like. My dad said, well that happens. The 90s were a long time ago. It just doesn’t feel that long ago.

After breakfast, I drove my mom home, and then I went home myself. I  had some birthday things to do with Drew tonight. When I got home, I kissed Drew and tried to hide my hands. I didn’t want him to see my nails, not just yet. I knew he would notice them soon enough, but I wanted to wait as long as I could. I cleaned up the kitchen a bit, and then we went to Best Buy. Drew wanted to get the Fitbit Versa for his Birthday gift.

On our way to Best Buy, I had to stop and get him a birthday card. This is so unorthodox. The element of Birthday surprises is gone when you get married and if you chose to have a joint checking account, well then there goes the surprise for certain. We also got candy to sneak into my purse at the movies. When we arrived at Best Buy, it is like a gadget lovers paradise. Everything looks so bright and shiny in that store. We went to the FitBit area, and there was the Versa, now the Fitbit is much better for tracking activity, then the iwatch I will say. I do miss my Fitbit sometimes, but my iwatch is more of a smartwatch, then a fitness tracker. The iwatch still tracks my fitness, but it is not as good as the Fitbit. Drew picked the special edition version of the Versa. The band was more of a nicer mesh material, instead of a rubbery feel. I told him he never treats himself. He should get what he wanted.
After Best Buy, we went home and talked about going to see hotel Transylvania 3. I made dinner and Drew ordered tickets. We were all set for the 8:50pm showing. I was so excited for this movie.  I was hoping it would be good. Drew set up his Fitbit. He looks so happy!
After dinner, we got ready to go to the movies. I couldn’t wait to see this movie. I was just hoping it was going to be good. Once inside, we promised to try to see this movie without popcorn, since we just had dinner, and smuggled in candy. We were sitting in our seats at the theater and we couldn’t take it anymore. I went into the lobby and bought popcorn. I brought down. I only got a medium though, with butter in the middle, and no butter on top. However, I do love a ton of butter, but we need to cut back and be healthier.
When the previews, started they showed the preview for the new Winnie the Pooh movie, that I can’t wait to see. I think Anthony and I are going to go see it. I know I will cry my eyes out. Goosebumps 2 was coming out. I loved those books as a child, I will probably drag Drew to see it with me when it comes out. It looks so good.

Sunny Sunday

Sunny Sunday

In this moment, I am sitting on my parent’s back porch. They say you can always go home. I feel at home today and I feel good today. I am sitting here relaxing with my mom, and catching up on the buzz and seeing my dog, Louie.  He hates to be snuggled. He likes it on his own terms. I am not even sure if he likes pictures. He is hard to get a picture of straight on.

On the way here I stopped at Starbucks and got a venti caramel macchiato. I could tell when the barista handed it to me, through the drive-thru, that it was going to be so sweet. Keep in mind, outside of having one yesterday, that was a tall size, I really haven’t had a caramel macchiato in a while and at first sip it was gross. I wanted to throw it out, but I didn’t want to waste the money. It was so sugary and sweet. I have been away from it for so long and I actually prefer my Red Eyes (iced coffee with a shot of espresso) over my macchiatos. This will be the last one, unfortunately, it is the end of an era.

When we left to go to Monroeville, we took my mom’s car. I didn’t feel like driving. I could have, but I decided not to. Once we arrived, I walked into my cousin’s house, and Angie wasn’t there to greet me at the door like she always does. I was kind of upset about that. Mackenzie greeted us at the door, we hugged and I complimented her shoes. They were cute.  As soon as we turned the corner, to go towards the kitchen. There was a table set up for demonstration. It had all the things there that people could buy. I thought this was another direct sale promotion thing. I already knew what to expect. I have done this before. I used to sell Partylite, but I have been to Mary Kay parties, Tupperware parties, Home and Garden Parties, etc. I do love Partylite. Home and Garden has nice things. I just know what this is all about. It is a pyramid scheme.  I don’t want to get involved in this again.
When I saw Angie, she was sitting at the kitchen table eating Ramen Noodles, chicken flavor out of a mug. She didn’t seem herself. She had her hair in her face and these huge classes on her face. I gave her a hug and she just said, “Hi.” It breaks my heart to see her like this. She is not the sweet bubbly little girl. She is going through some intense stuff right now and teenage years were on the horizon and they are not the easiest years, but if she can just hold on and get the right help, she will enjoy them. I enjoyed my teenage years. I sort of wish I could relive them again, the same way. I wouldn’t change a thing. Does anyone else feel that way?
I said hi to my other cousins, Eileen, Katie, and Dorcas. They are all sisters and they are mom’s cousin’s too.  It was good to see Eileen. I am not sure when was the last time I saw her. I don’t think she attended my wedding or my shower. She is kind of distant. I don’t let it bother me.
Eventually, I gave Angie the little gift I had in my purse for her. I handed her the little box. Her mom stood next to me as she opened it. When she saw, the Eiffel Tower keychain she screamed. She was so happy. She gave me the biggest hug. I said it is from the gift shop in the Eiffel Tower, even the tag is in French! Her mom hugged me and said, “Thank you, she really needed that right now.” I smiled and I was glad I could make her happy.
Once the demonstration got underway, I sat on the floor in front of my mom so other people could sit on the chairs in the living room.  I am more comfortable on the floor. The couple who did the presentation talked about the three key things that Amway could provide; natural green and safe for you and the earth laundry detergent and household cleaning products, vitamins like Double X and etc. Lastly, Amway teamed up with Artistry’s makeup line. I looked down at the order form, at parties like these you have to buy something. I wasn’t sure what. I went into the family room where Angie was and called Drew. Angie was watching TV. When Drew picked up, he was out to dinner with his parents, but I told him the situation and the costs and everything that they offered on the order form. The last thing I needed was more lip gloss or makeup. He said, just get the popcorn it was like 40 bags of popcorn that was garlic and olive oil flavor for $16.00. We honestly didn’t need anything at all.
After we placed our orders, I hung out with Angie little. She was down in the dumps and I wanted to try to be there for her. I know it is a lot to take in, but I just wish I could protect her and make her snap out of this, but it’s not that easy. Before my mom and I left, Angie’s mom confided in me about Angie, and what the next steps were for her. It is so sad. I never went through any of this growing up. I just hope she gets better, but I know it is easier said than done.
On our way home, I was so hungry. They didn’t have any snacks at my cousin’s, so I asked my mom to stop at McDonald’s for me. I haven’t had McDonald’s in years. I typically don’t eat fast food like this, but this was a desperate time. I got the two cheeseburger meal with fries and a drink. It tasted so good, but I was going to regret it later. Once I got to my parents, my dad had just finished making hamburger helper. He is so cute. I couldn’t wait to get home to my husband.
On my way home, I talked to Anthony for a bit, and we got caught up on his life. When I walked in the door, Drew was sitting at the dining room table. I told him about Angie and how sad it is to see her the way she is. He feels bad for her too.  I asked how dinner was with his parents at the cafe, and how Grandma was doing. He said, that dinner was good and Grandma is okay. She was so glad to see him, I bet. Just like that, it was time to get ready for another week ahead.

Dog Sitting Day 2

After work today, I went to Subway and got a foot long. I wanted to eat half for dinner tonight and the other half for dinner tomorrow. Then I went home and let the dogs out we sat in the grass for a minute. They didn’t need to go to the bathroom, I guess. When we went inside, I fed them dinner.
After they ate, I went up and got a shower, changed into comfortable clothes, then sat down to eat. I watched Jeopardy while I ate. I like to guess the answers, some I knew and some I don’t, but it’s still fun. After I finished eating, I cleaned up and then took the dogs for a walk in the alley, where they finally went to the bathroom. We were good until it was time for bed.
When I went back inside, I took their leashes off, gave them treats, and their vitamins, then laid on the couch and tried to watch the show “Harlots.” I just couldn’t get into it. This is the second time I tried getting into it and I just can’t. I don’t know I mean I like the time period, but the topic is a bit much for me. I don’t know it’s just not my bag  I guess. So I turned on Riverdale. I forgot I still need to catch up on Season 2. I finally finished Season 1. Right before I started Season 2, I did some laundry. One more load, and then laundry was done for the week.
I went back upstairs to the first floor, laid back down on the couch and watched Season 2 of Riverdale. I couldn’t finish the whole season. I will finish it tomorrow night. Drew called me around 10 mins to 9pm. I was so happy to hear from him. I missed getting a phone call from him out of the blue, like when we were dating. It was a cool feeling. We talked for a bit, and then I went back to watching Riverdale, until about 9:30pm, then I tried to get the dogs out on more time. Louie went to the bathroom, but not Paris. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to get up, in the middle of the night. I went upstairs to get ready for bed, tomorrow is Friday!
