After work today, I went with Anthony to the gym. He didn’t get home until about 7pm. I was dressed for the gym but laying on the couch. I thought seriously about not going. I drove to his house and then parked my car. I got into his car and we drove to the gym.
On the way, we talked about work, my grad classes, the group paper and he gave me some advice, this guy he is talking to, and etc.
When we arrived at the gym, we played some basketball for a bit, then went towards the cardio machines. I was just not into it. I was so tired and ready to go home. We waved to Drew, who was in the weight room lifting weights. Then, we hopped onto the elliptical. I typically treadmill it up before I do the elliptical.
While we were on the elliptical, we watched John McCain’s casket arrive at St. Andrew’s base. We watch them transport the casket, into the motorcade. It is so sad for his family. Megan McCain couldn’t stop crying it seemed. Cindy McCain looked stone-faced. I can’t imagine losing my husband or burying my dad. Anthony had me laughing for a bit.
At one point, Drew came over to say hi. He said to me, “I haven’t seen you smile this big, at the gym ever before.” I agree with him. Typically, I am not a happy camper at the gym. It is nice to have Anthony there with me someone to talk and laugh with while working out.
After we finished the elliptical, we did some strength training, then it was time to go. We drove back to his house, and I got into my car and drove home. When I got home, I was happy to see Drew. He could tell that I was just ready for bed. We hung out for a bit, then I went up to get a shower and lay down. We try to go to bed at the same time, but I am usually in bed and asleep before him. Tomorrow was Friday and it was about to be Labor Day weekend!
This morning, we took it easy. We drank some coffee and watched Smallville. We are on season 3 now, Clark meets Lois for the first time. I am such a sucker for Superman, especially Tom Welling. After Smallville, we got ready and went to the gym. I was going to try to get a really good work out in and run again. I am really trying to get back into it, without thinking about it too much.
The gym was a bit packed, I wasn’t sure how long I was going to stay, but whatever. I went to it. I got on a treadmill started out at a 3.5 speed on a 3.5 incline for about 10 mins, then I turned the incline down to 0.0 and increased the speed to 4.5 and started to run for at least 4 mins. I used to be able to run for 7 mins, but it’s not happening as of late. I can’t wait to get back to that. I did another walking session back at 3.5 speed and a 3.5 incline and walked for 10 mins, before kicking it back up again and running again. I did this for about 30 mins, and then I got off the treadmill. I used to do an hour of cardio, but I have been talking to a few people and they said, that all you need is at least 20-30 mins of cardio anymore than that is ridiculous.
After the treadmill, I did some weights. I did the lat machine three sets of 20. I was sore the last time I did this, and I like that feeling. After the lat machine, I did the hip abductor. I looked over and saw Drew in the weight room lifting weights, he looks so in his zone. I am struggling so bad getting back into this.
After the strength training machines, I went home to get a shower and get ready to go to his parents. I put on some comfy beach pants that I got at Old Navy. I am so in love with that store. I paired the striped blue and white pants with a white tank top. I was just going comfy. When Drew got home, he got showed and then we were on our way to his parents.
When we arrived, his dad was already cooking on the grill and the dinner was almost ready. It has been a while since we were over there for dinner. His dad made steaks, potatoes, hot dogs, hamburgers, salad, some cheese spread with cut up pastrami over peppers, baked potatoes, and sweet potatoes. I was ready for a steak. I was so sick of hamburgers and hot dogs. We talked about work, school, grandma, Tommy and Megan’s new dog waffles; I can’t wait to meet him. For dessert, we sang happy birthday and had cake, chocolate covered pretzels, and because they know I am not a fan of chocolate cake they bought me a piece of vanilla cheesecake. I am so hormonal and thanked them for the cheesecake, but told them I am going to have a small piece of cake today.
After cake, Drew opened the gift he got Bose wireless headphones. We are not too sure what happened to his other headphones. The cake was so good. It had pieces of chocolate chips in it, so yummy. I got up and went into the living room and laid on the couch. I was so full. I ended up falling asleep.
While I napped, Drew helped his mom set up her Fitbit. We gave her his old one. After he finished setting it up, Drew came over and kissed my cheek to wake me up. He is so sweet. He said, “Want to go soon?” I said, “Okay.” I smiled and got up from the couch. His mom packed us up at a doggie bag to take home. I love when they do that, because it is helpful to us. The leftover food will help with his lunches and dinners for a couple of days. It seems like Drew had a great birthday weekend, now to get home and start a new week again.
Today, we had a slow start to the day. We got ready went to the gym, and I really wasn’t feeling it today, but I did some cardio and a little strength training. Then went back on the treadmill. I was going to leave, but I did 20 more mins. My friend Erin got on the treadmill next to me. I wanted to hang out and talk to her for a bit. I told her about the barre class on Friday morning. She wants to go with me, and then get coffee after. I was happy that she wanted to go with me. It is always cool to have a friend to go to classes like that with.
After I got off the treadmill, I went home and got a shower, and made some lunch. I put in a load of laundry. I checked on the dinner that was cooking in the Crockpot. Then I decided to look at my work e-mail. I saw that one of my professors, for one of my grad school classes e-mailed us a syllabus and said that the course should be up on course web sometime this week, so we can see the readings and assignments that are due. I had a harsh reality check. I looked at the text books that they are offering there are 5 of them. I instantly started to get so nervous. I saw that I only had two things due for our first class, which I was happy about.
When Drew got home with the groceries, I helped him put everything away. I told him about my syllabus and how it was sent today via e-mail. I told him that I was so nervous. He said, “Awwe you are going to do so well baby.” I said, “Thank you, but I am nervous.” He was there for me and we talked it out, but I just had so much on my mind.
After dinner, I read through my textbook list. Drew asked me if I wanted to order them now? I said, “Please if that would be okay?” He said, “Definitely baby, you can start reading, while you are off and get a head start. I am so thankful for him. I really am. I don’t know what I would do without him.
After I ordered the textbooks, we went to go visit Grandma. When we arrived at the rehab facility, it reminded me of where my mom’s, mom was when she was in a nursing home. There were older people roaming the hallways in their wheel chairs, older people in bed, asleep, or up watching television. It was depressing. I hate it that his grandma is in a place like this.
When we walked past this older woman, she was in a wheel chair, and had a hospital gown on, and no blanket covering her. She was saying, “Help me. Get me out of here. I want to go home” (We found out later she has Alzheimer’s). It was so sad. When we arrived, to Grandma’s room, we walked in and she was up eating dinner in bed. She looked okay, but not herself. I felt so terrible for her. Andrew’s mom was due to arrive shortly.
When my mother-in-law came in, she brought us some cheese from Thanksgiving, that we had given to her. We told her she could keep the extra, but she didn’t realize that and packed them up for us, and put some ice in a zip-lock bag and sealed it, so it will stay cold. I thought that was weird but whatever.
After we visited with Grandma for about an hour so, it was time to go home and get ready for a new week. I still had some things to do around the house. It was a short week, but still had to be at work.
